OP and others mentioned the GTR, cant sit back when people ramble on about silly high running costs when they have no idea I get the fanboy thing from owning a GTR, God knows I've been flamed enough about my 'fanboyism' of my puny wee Nismo. However, Octet did point out, very graciously, that the servicing was around £1000 per year, along with a bit of a warrant at £1000 + VAT per year. Now if you have £2000 +VAT a year to throw at your GTR, that's great, there's no bigger fan of the GTR's engineering pedigree than me. But to say that no one but you knows how much it costs etc, is frankly rather arrogant. What you have to remember is that there are a lot of forum users out there that HAVE researched the running costs and there is no pretending that it is 'reasonable', just like any high end, complicated and evocative car will be. It is expensive, comparatively against less complicated cars, but maybe not for other more complicated cars. So the OP wants a V8, the GTR is not a V8, he hasn't ruled it out nor tried to trash its reputation, which is awesome. It's not got 'presence' though, just legendary engineering. Anyway, me and the Mrs were out looking at furniture earlier on today, in one of the places we visited, there was a Jaguar XK R in the car park, man that had more presence than all the Nissans in Japan, what an awesome looking beastie!!

GTR is 2 cylinders short anyway, but a delightfully engineered car, just need deep pockets to run one. Maybe I'm risk averse, but, 35k in anyone's budget, is too much, IMO, to take that risk. Ricey, I get that on the outside, it will look like a 'minter' but, it's the inside that worries me the most. Also, there are good points about gearboxes, the Maserati was never known as a car, for the price, to have a smooth operating gearbox, auto or manual (I would have an auto, now, due to being an old bastardo, but modern autos are just too complicated for my good lady)

As someone said, GTR will cost £2000 per year (+VAT, another £400) for peace of mind, that's £6000 over 3 years (£7200 inc VAT) and a limited warranty, take in depreciation, finding an unbastardised one, that's a lot of money. A 911 is a good shout, not a Porsche out and out fan, but after looking at some GT3's on Sunday, they are class, fact, pass that on . If I was hanging by my balls from a bit of fishing line and had to pick between the two, the Maserati would win. If I had the chance to own a V10, with the added security of a bullet proof warranty, the M6 would win, hands down. If I was looking for a car in a 35k budget, with NO RISK, the mustang would win. At the end of the day, it's your cash, your risk and your happiness at stake

Cheap or not, it'll have more presence. Same 'aggressive' mods as our Merkin cousins put on, Whipple, Steeda etc, as far as I'm aware, they're not standard on any 'Stang in the Colonies What about an AMG Merc, not a diddly small one but one of the 63's or 65's. I know you've discounted the Mustang, however, it'll come with 3 years warranty. The GTR that someone suggested is over budget and is horrendously expensive to service and if something goes bang....well, the Maserati may well break down, expensively, every other week (I love the look of them though) and the Aston, is indeed, a chance to be Bond, every day. However, the cheapest to insure, service, modify and run will be a Mustang. Just saying, you seem to think that depreciation will be a major factor on that, but if you keep any of the other two that you favour for more than a couple of years, they'll depreciate as well, maybe not as much, but they'll be older, again! and just as expensive to run. Interested what you'll plump for. Kyle R has a lovely M6 for sale that would be my choice (I understand that you don't want a BMW though, but a V10!), if I didn't have a Mustang on order

Its only the turbo one that uses oil. Supercharged one is fine. The S that middle daughter had was a 58 plate (that was turbo wasn't it?), she never had to put a drop in it in 4 years, car was serviced at the recommended intervals. What level of oil use are we talking? 1/2 pint between services?

Sorry mate, those "stock" seats are awful in a Nismo, IMHO. Nice colour and all that, but they just don't suit. The Mk1 seats are fantastic on a long journey (2+ hours), the 'stocks' are pretty uncomfortable on longer journeys (my mrs always complained, although I could stick it out a bit longer). You would have been cheaper keeping your black edition and just adding the body kit (although all the suspension goodies would have been lost) As long as your happy, that's all that counts. The Recaros in the Mk2 look the part, but other than track use, possibly, are a fairly cosmetic, more uncomfortable solution. Just my honest opinion, hope you return it to what it was like when you come to move it on. Did you retrofit the heated element?, switches etc? One thing that I initially missed, but not at all now, was the heated seats (no need, obviously with the cloth)
