  1. I dreamt I wanted (and could perhaps stretch to) a yellow Corvette last night, so I configured it this morning ... then son no.1 FaceTimed and told me Ford are thinking about a twin turbo V8 Mustang for 2018/19 ... now, if I last out till then, I just might .................. Not heard that rumour yet , that's a new one. New Facelift mustang is due to unveiled next week. Don't think the new model will be seen until 2021 ish Hugh, just get out and buy a Mustang now!, you so want one . There was talk of a smaller engined TT, pure speculation at the minute, but no 5.0 V8 TT anytime this side of 2020, if ever! The current one may well be the last NA Mustang. (I know No1 works for Ford, but even the facelift out next week is an unknown quantity at the minute to most Ford US employees, try Googling for a pic be even better though, if he could get one ) The Corvette is still the sweetest car sound I've ever heard, it is possibly the only left hooker I'd put up with
  2. Those are a fantastic looking set of wheels (great tyres as well ). Colour is just what I'm looking for as I start my search for a new set of wheels. What's the weight of them? Your width and offset are a bit out from what I need, have you got a link to where you got them? Edit: http://projexuk.com/wheels/niche
  3. What's a, 'an Yorkshireman'? tut, tut Hugh https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hogmanay
  4. ^^ how do you know it was 130+? Were you doing 130?
  5. True gent by the sound of things, helped in some old fashioned, fairytale ending type ways for a lot of people. Not a fan of his music per say, but I'm sure we all found ourselves singing/humming along to at least one of his songs in the car listening to the radio.
  6. Loved the Alcantara and leather steering wheel in my Nismo, so much, I've got the Ford GT350R wheel winging its way from Santa as we post
  7. Loved the big tank, don't underestimate the usefulness of that
  8. Given the looks of the 135/140, I can't think of any boxes that this car ticks. I understand that its a fantastic piece of engineering but for the life of me I couldn't imagine going into a dealership and desiring one, bland and not aesthetically appealing IMO.
  9. ...........or mongtards that hit their brakes at every oncoming vehicle
  10. Full fat FRPP suspension mate, it's a proper Sports GT Coupe . Made for Europe The Maserati was at 'home', but not really at 'home' . May have been down to driver ability though
  11. Sometimes it can be a pleasurable experience. In the Alps just over the border from Austria, in Italy, me and the Mrs found ourselves on one of the most sublime roads Europe can offer, twisty with every apex sweeping and good vision ahead, empty, bar the Maserati sitting behind me. Had the conversation with my Mrs as to what was about to happen and she gave full permission to have a play . Well Mr Maserati must have had the same conversation with his Mrs As the road spun out in front of us, we got faster and bolder, fantastic 10-15 miles with just the two of us having a blast. At the beginning, he had the natural talent, or so i perceived, but as we got into it, it became clear that I was better than he thought (or me for that matter :lol). It was fantastic, the noise alone was monumental, two big V8's blasting through the mountains. Once my Mrs had, had enough, I slowed down to let him catch up and overtake. He and his good lady, had the biggest smiles and gave big thumbs up on the way past. Sometimes, when you know it's right, this is a great game. On the other hand, when I had my RX8, I tried to give a 350z owner some respect on a bit of motorway (A5000 coming off the M6) and he scowled and tailgaited for miles before, easily passing me, just for giving him a thumbs up, he was a K-nob, it got me thinking though, that I wanted more torque, as he overtook me like I was going backwards:lol:
  12. The torque is woefully short, that's a lot of work to get anywhere quick and, as Ekona says, you'd get pretty pi**ed off with a golf diesel pissing all over you. It's pretty, in a Japanese way but Toyota missed a trick here. Fatrab on here had a supercharged one, had a few problems with that. Sorry but tyres and wheels aren't going to fix the gutlesness of this pretty car.
  13. Menopause? Do the right thing by you, f**k the rest of them, most, if not all, won't give a toss about you when they go home. Have you talked to a doctor? Sounds like you're experiencing some sort of breakdown.
  14. Driverless trains already exist, they're all in sidings, going nowhere Go Sothern Rail Anyway, that's not helping Steve. I've got some relatively high up friends in Network Rail darn sarf, I'll ask what your first move should be to get into maintenance/planning. Got a few friends with TFL as well, on the maintenance side, I'll give them a poke too Wait out........
  15. yea i have applied for a role of two unsuccessfully This one was in June, bit there are others, it gives a good insight on what's on offer http://www.raillive.com/ Opportunities to network as well
  16. 'In off the street' is a railway term. Have you looked on any of the TOCs sites to see what's available? I know of people who've started as carriage cleaners and ended up seriously high on the management scales, the last MD was a carpet fitter, who started in the signalling grade. It is an industry that offers limitless opportunity.
  17. Sadly, there's a lot of nepotism still prevalent in the rail industry, however don't let that put you off. There are several career tracks, no pun intended, that you can go, depending on your quals. Engineering (civil and mechanical), maintenance, operations, which is more to do with the running of trains (drivers, conductors, station staff etc.), so run by Train Operating Companies (TOCs) or Network Rail for the track, power and signalling side. It all depends on your qualifications, but the opportunities are endless in the railway industry. There are a lot of sub contract companies working for NR. Driver training takes two years, it's all dependent on hrs and traction driven with basic rules and traction courses to be completed before being given a driver instructor, roughly 300hrs of train handling, but can be more before being passed out as a driver. No formal qualifications are required but there is a large, competitive field that TOCs can choose from. Lots of teachers, policemen and other professionals are attracted by the high wages and excellent benefits. The entry tests are not that difficult, attention to detail is where most applicants fall down and psychometric testing weeds them out. Don't bother applying if you're colour blind, for a driving position, for obvious reasons. If you like the outdoor life, in all weathers, mostly nights and certainly all bank holidays, then Permanent Way (PWay) is the way to go. That's NR. Pay and conditions (apart from when it's driving rain and freezing) are excellent. Do your research and keep applying, you may have to move for the right job. Ok edit: just seen your post, if it's rolling stock maintenance TOCs run this part. Coordination of rolling stock, that's more a control/TCS type job. You'll not walk in off the street to either of those posts.
  18. Don't let Dan kid any of you, he's a fully paid up, dyed in the wool UKipper, if not further right than that
  19. With the Merc bosses seemingly close relationship with Verstappen's father, I hope that this is more than likely. If it does happen, I'm looking forward to Hamilton throwing his dummy out more often
  20. Alonso must've excluded himself in that statement he's in a bad car, double world champion and could hardly get in the points, nullifies that argument. Going back a few posts, drivers that won the championship that didn't deserve it, James Hunt springs to mind. Hamilton is so far up his own bottom, he thinks that he's due it, the boy is a knob, put him in a Red Bull and he would be out qualified and out driven by the 'upstart' Verstappen all day everyday. Like the Beavis lad, I'm glad that there's some excitement about this now. Hamilton in an average car? He'd be an average driver, Verstappen in the current Mercedes would be unstoppable. Hopefully, the new batch coming along will add to the mix.
  21. Thank you, my demeanour is flawless, now with that in mind, if I said your Range Rover was crap, but having never set foot in one, would you like that? When the OP makes sweeping statements on any marque as to how bad they are, without ever having tried it, your Range Rover for instance, how would you react? Would you correct them? Ask what their experience is with them? That's all I did. It wasn't 'another example', of anything, it was a fair comment. Now I had a fair bit of hounding on here regards my choice of cars, we all know who those 'suspects' are, some of them more 'suspect' than others. It is only natural that I would return fire, mostly, if not always the case, that those having a go at my choice of car, knew little if anything at all and were merely trying to wind me up enough to have me banned from the site You need to have a think about your perception of my comments and me In saying all that, AMT is as mad as a box of frogs
