Had some Michelin Super Sports fitted yesterday morning at a local tyre specialist. http://www.merrow-tyres.co.uk/
Have to say, after you ignore the very strange address name, what a great place. They were able to get hold of a full set of super sports within 24hours at a price that blew most places out of the water. Very knowledgable and they took great care of the car. Snuck a look in while they were working and good to see protectors were placed over the wheels to ensure absolutely no scratches. Great place and i would definitely recommend them.
Well what do i think of the tyres. Well for starters you can now get the super sports at the same approx price as the original bridgestones so it was common sense to give them a try. I wasn't expecting a big difference and i admit i've not been able to push the car as im just taking it carefully given new rubber and wet roads (talk about understeer ).
Initial impressions are very very impressive.
1) Steering feels much much lighter - not sure why but i like it feels more fluid
2) Less tram lining but will need to confirm after experience of more roads
3) No grinding whilst cold and on full lock. One thing i hated about the bridgestones was on a cold morning at full lock the tyres were rock hard and it would just slip and catch making a horrible grinding noise. No issue with the SS's they are a lot softer.
Time will tell but so far love them, car feels much much better.
If anyone wants tyres quickly at a great price where they will look after your car check out merrows.
