  1. Retired some years ago but worked as a Chemist for an American oil company specializing in lub oil additives. Before that I worked for British Steel and Shell. Caroline works for Careers Wales, attempting to find jobs for school leavers and people made redundant. Pete
  2. He did nearly 100 in the end, the 3 Renault teams managed a dismal 19. Pete
  3. Renault engined cars in trouble with electrical problems, Red Bull won't be doing any more running today. Pete
  4. Stiff as in it won't turn? Try some WD40, years of not being used (never used mine in 7 years) will stiffen it up a bit . Pete
  5. This reminds me of the case of Bill Johnson, the Olympic Downhill skiing champion of 1984. Attempted a comeback at age 40 then had a nasty accident and was in a coma for several weeks. Came out the coma O.K but the damage he'd done to his brain meant his health gradually deteriorated over the next few years and he's now in a care home at age 50. Of course this may not be the case for MSC but in view of his age and the length of his coma I'm starting to get a bit worried now. Pete
  6. I also think a lot of people underestimate the running costs. Pete
  7. Must have a chance this year of getting at least one top ten finish (Marussia as well)....I very much doubt that more than a dozen cars will actually finish the first few races. Just totted up the laps from today BTW, a grand total of 93 between the lot of them . Pete
  8. It's been noticed. Can't really understand why people buy a car in May then sell it in the next January . I think in many cases its just a case of box ticking. Added to that a few long standing members have sold up just recently. Pete
  9. More Caterham 2014 Marussia car should arrive overnight. Pete
  10. Mercedes confirm front wing failure for Lewis. Pete
  11. They buy it from oil companies, some of it comes from the giant Shell Pernis refinery in Holland and is stored at a terminal in Essex, if I remember correctly there was a major problem with the quality of this a few years ago (contaminated I think) For Supermarkets up North its more likely to come from Stanlow or Grangemouth to keep the transport costs down. Pete
  12. Yes, I often see and get this sort of behavior, the easiest way to deal with it is to leave a significant gap to the vehicle in front (but not enough for the driver behind to nip past you), driving tight up to the vehicle in front doesn't leave you much time to react when somebody decides to do a double overtake. I never, never double overtake when following something really slow moving like a tractor, road sweeper, etc. I saw someone doing this one day behind a bus which was doing about 30 in an unrestricted area, the road was dead straight and some guy in front of me decided to overtake a couple of cars and the bus at the same time....the bus then proceeded to overtake a cyclist which very nearly ended in the said driver having a huge accident. The only time I ever confronted a driver who tailgated me for miles was hilarious. It was an MX5 with a young guy driving it when we were forced to stop at traffic lights and I opened my door he simply drove straight through the lights on red. Sadly for him they had just installed cameras on these lights, A54 at Kelsall . Pete
  13. Not really, Gasoline has to meet many quality control standards which are laid down by the petroleum industry. Most fuel in the U.K is supplied from the nearest refinery, for example the refinery in Stanlow supplies all the fuel (except some supermarket brands) for the entire North West of England and North Wales. My understanding is that the additives for each company are added at the loading terminal and they are in any case pretty much the same. Pete
  14. Premium will depend on age, number of owners, mileage and condition. At one end of the scale you could be paying out at least 2.5k-3.0k extra on a one or two owner in mint condition with 25k on the clock. Middling mileage, say 70k around a £1,000 to £1500 and high mileage 120k and above 300 to 500 hundred. Not sure but I think Ultra Yellow ones may have a slightly higher premium on top of that. Pete
  15. Yeah, must have had tight security. Pete
  16. It's impossible to give an exact figure as HowManyLeft doesn't differentiate between Coupe's and Roadsters. As far as 370's go only a handful will have been written off but we don't know how many were sold in 2009/10. It's a little easier to make an estimate of 350's, at the peak of ownership in 2009 there were 7,825 350 Zeds either Taxed or Sorned, this figure has now declined to 7,453, a reduction of around 5%. If we assume a similar percentage decrease in coupe's and roadsters we can guess at around 50 to 60 roadsters have bitten the dust ......so around 1100 left would be my (very rough) estimate. Pete
  17. You can download the sales figures for each year from 2005 through to 2013 in XLS form from here. http://www.newsroom....resCountry.aspx Just over 1,000 350Z Roadster were sold in the period of 1st March 2005 to 31st December 2007, no breakdown of figures for 2008 but just over 500 350Z sales, probably a further 120 or so of those were roadsters. Pete
  18. 146 were sold between January 1st 2011 and December 31st 2013. Don't have any figures earlier than that but sales have been poor, just 21 sold in 2012 and only 7 in 2013 . Pete
  19. Don't know of anybody on here with a GT-R replica front end. Pete
  20. F1 cars future unveiling. We'll get plenty of photos and a good idea of who is where when testing starts next week. Sauber - 26 January (online) Toro Rosso - 27 January (Jerez) Mercedes - 28 January (Jerez) Caterham - 28 January (Jerez) Red Bull - 28 January (Jerez) Force India - 28 January (Jerez) Marussia - 28 January (Jerez) Williams - 28 January (Jerez) Lotus - TBC Pete
  21. Not sure about this but I think I read somewhere that a few plaques were either never fitted or removed and sold on EBay. Who actually fitted the plaques, dealer or factory? Pete
  22. That would be me , although I should point out that my father was born in Overton on Dee, which at the time was a detached part of Flintshire although his family actually lived just over the border in Cheshire. Many of Flintshire's residents were born in Chester as the local maternity unit on Deeside closed down many years ago and the alternative in Wrexham is an MRSA hotspot. Pete
  23. No, if it doesn't have the bulge bonnet then it isn't an HR. While you can fit a bulge bonnet onto a 276 or 300 you can't fit a bonnet off a 276 or 300 onto an HR, it simply won't physically fit as the HR engine is taller. Pete
