Haas F1 entry confirmed. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/113401 Pete

The rev limit for current turbo's is 15,000 but what I find a bit strange is that the previous turbo era in the 80's and early 90's produced a lot more noise than todays turbos. Most of the old turbos only revved to 13-14k, it was only in the last couple of years that they went up to 15k Pete

Also another get out clause, if you get caught speeding in one county, and are told to go on the course etc, if you then sped in a different county, they have no record of your previous course and offer it to you again That was before each constabulary joined their databases together and S.A.C details are retained for 3 years now...plus another 2 for research. Haas F1 to be confirmed today according to reports. F.I.A also considering 2 other potential entrants but Stefan GP is not among them having withdrawn their entry. EDIT...I'm now hearing that a second team have been accepted to make the grid up to the maximum of 26 cars. So far I can find no indication of who this team is. I'll keep rooting around various sites for answers. I've been unable so far to put a name to the 2nd entry but the name of Colin Kolles came up several times. Also, I did find this interesting report. http://www.minardi.it/international/news/exclusive-bmw-ready-to-come-back-in-formula-1/ Here we go. http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/f1-to-allow-new-kolles-team-in-2015/ Pete

I'm afraid I have some very bad news. Our little ginger and white cat, just 9 months old has been knocked over and killed on the busy main road near to us. I've lived here ever since the road opened in 1985 and despite having had over 30 cats through the years have never lost one on there before. She rarely left our garden yet we found her almost a quarter of a mile away. Like all cats she was a real character and we're all going to miss her so much. Just devastated and heart broken. Pete

How strange, Chris Hoy is a legend of the boards but would never race on the roads like for example Chris Boardman because he said it was "too dangerous"! Pete

Some others to think about. "North by North West" by Alfred Hitchcock, the scene in the auction room is pure genius "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly", possibly the best ever final scene, except for possibly "For a few Dollars More" "The Godfather" has nobody else mentioned this? "Bonnie and Clyde" saw this at the pictures when it was first released. "Erin Brockovitch" don't normally like Julia Roberts but this is a great film. "Quatermass and The Pit" probably quite dated now though and finally, "Robocop" just love the dark humour in this one. Pete

F1 has always favoured smaller drivers, I have stood next to both Stirling Moss and Jackie Stewart and they are tiny. Prost and Senna were also very small. James Hunt, Damon Hill and Button are the only World Chamions 5' 11" or over. To be fair though I don't see what J-EV's problem is as he's only 5' 7" There's nothing really new here though, jockeys and Boxers have been starving themselves to death for donkeys years. Is it fair to taller/heavier drivers, well I'm not too sure, many sports favour big guys, Basketball, Tennis, Swimming, Volleyball, High Jump and some like Horse racing and Gymnastics are for guys/girls who are smaller than average. You are what you are and apart from Boxing, I can't think of any sport that specifically caters for all sizes....Rowing does have a lightweight class but you still have to be around 6' 0" to be competitive. I'll be an official O.A.P in 23 days. Pete

Fangio only started 46 GP's compared to Hamilton's 132 and he was over 40 when he started his first GP, so yeah, he was pretty good. Pete
-
Yes, dominant indeed and it'll probably stay that way all season. Some excellent racing further back with a whole host of teams and drivers very close together. Good to see Williams in the mix again although the safety car probably screwed up their chance of a podium. Pete

Roadsters have an extra button on the passengers side to tilt the seat, so I'm guessing that even if these were U.K spec they wouldn't be suitable if they were out of a coupe. Pete

Chromatic's - 2008 350Z Build Journal/Log
JetSet replied to Chromatic's topic in Member Build Projects
Yeah I thought so too.. All the 350's Buttons light up right? I heard some talk when I was finding part numbers to get the right buttons for this car that some people didn't get their buttons to illuminate? Surely that's not true. Mine's a late prefacelift and doesn't have illuminated controls, think they were introduced with the facelift model in 2006. Pete -
Oh dear, the car will be a back marker then, still promotes Marussia and Caterham Looks that way to me. Haas has a stated aim of one of the drivers being American and its over 40 years since an American born driver won a GP and well over 30 since Italian born American Mario Andretti won a GP. The last few Americans and Canadians who were schooled on oval racing have been major flops (Michael Andretti, Scott Speed, Sebastian Bordais) and in fact oval racing is pretty much dominated by non Americans anyway. One option would be Alexander Rossi but in reality he's not a regular front runner...qualified 15th today. Setting up shop in a country with little motorsport history is probably a bad move, they should seriously think about locating to where the expertise and F1 industry is based. Dallara may know how to build Indycars but these are incredibly crude compared with F1 cars and The H.R.T they designed was a real dog. Pete

Both the Orkneys and Hebrides have courts as do a few of the other Islands, in fact Scotland has loads of courts for some reason. Bit awkward if you live on Fair Isle though . Pete
-
Desperately sorry to hear this, our thoughts are with you and your family. Pete
-
I'm not aware of any distance limit but in rural areas I can definitely see a problem. AFAIK there are just 2 crown courts in North Wales, Caernarfon and Mold plus one just over the border in Chester. So if you live in somewhere like Rhyl it's 35-40 miles to the nearest court. Pete
-
I'm in North Wales but very close to the border with Cheshire. I'm on the map but unzoomed it's easy to mistake my location for Cheshire and I also have Chester postcode. Pete
-
They are apparently not a straight fit. I have seen one fitted to an earlier car but I believe you need more than just the bumper, for example the headlight washers are different and so is the bumper lining. Pete

Some more info on the Haas entry. The most likely European base will be in Brussels where Haas has factory facilities, although he would probably be better off locating in the South Midlands. He also has wind tunnel facilities in South Carolina. Finally, the design work on the car will be to some extent handled by Dallara. Pete
