Tree identified thanks - Now, how do we get it out ?

Let's hope the roots haven't gone to far under the building as it looks to be very well established. Pete -
I think the interior lights come on at that low level only when the headlights/sidelights are on. I think this may be a facelift thing, don't think my 55 reg does this, but Caroline's 08 definitely does. Pete

This morning quite close to the retail park, got a wave too!! Looked to have a body kit as well as a private plate * 6 ***. Pete

Not for me either, just looks too fussy. Would like to see some more photos taken from a standing position though. Pete

My daughter went backpacking there for a couple of months last year with 2 of her mates and loved it. She said there were no safety problems at all but she did stick to the tourist areas. Pete

Worth a try I guess but he sold that car shortly after I took that pic in May 2011. Pete -

Good spot Will Don't think its Twilight Grey though, you can just see Caroline's Twilight Grey poking out a bit and it looks different to me. Pete -
I'm not sure if you'd call this spiritualism but I can recount an experience I had when I was 18/19. At that time I had a real problem with warts on my hand, they were really ugly and having to hide your hands from all and sundry was getting me down. I had about 20 or so and eventually went to the doctors. He gave me some stuff to paint on them but it really had no effect, other than highlighting the warts under the lights in discos . My mum then suggested I see Mr Lewis. a company director where my mum worked who was apparently a "wart charmer". Well, nothing to lose I reckoned so Mr Lewis arrived at our house took a good look at my hands and gave them a quick examination and said they'll be gone in a couple of weeks. A couple of weeks later and no improvement which is really what you'd expect. Anyway, a month passed and Mr Lewis asked my mum about the warts. He was or seemed quite surprised and sought another audience with me. Same thing, examined my hands for a for a few minutes and then exclaimed ah ha!. He explained to me that he had missed one of the warts and it would definitely work this time. Amazingly 2 weeks later an examination showed that about 50% of them had gone and within 6 weeks they'd all gone. These days I still get warts, they started again in my 40's but in fairly small numbers, just 2 at the moment. Pete

I had something very similar but not really spooky like that. I worked in a large steelworks when I was in my 20's and one day a complete stranger about my age came up to me in work and started chatting away to me. He knew my name, asked how my Lotus was going plus a few other things that only someone who knew me would know, I was too embarrassed to ask "who are you" and bluffed my way through the 5 minute conversation. Now the thing is, I have an excellent memory, especially when it comes to faces. For example I was in B&Q when I spotted a guy I was in school with like 45 years ago and hadn't seen him since. Whoever this was is a complete mystery and although I racked my brains out at the time never discovered who he was. I never saw him again but then again there were 11,000+ people working at the steelworks back then. Pete

Welcome along . With there being 3 different 350Z models, in fact 4 with the GT4, it's best to do a little research as to what model is what. Some sellers will try and pass one model off as another. Pete

Can't wait to see this . Pete -
Back in 2006 there was still quite a demand for 350 Zeds and the older pre facelifts that dealers had left over sold fairly quickly, only a few made it onto 06 plates. When the 313 arrived in 2007 demand had fallen so it's not that uncommon to see the 300's on 07/57 and even later plates. Someone posted a spot of one a while ago on a 10 plate! That one you've posted is on a 56 plate and clearly isn't a 313, so yes, very similar situation. Pete

Nothing to worry about, some lubrication of the joints will help and it may take quite a number of attempts to get it open. When Ricey detailed our roadster last week the roof hadn't been down since October and it took around 6 or 7 attempts to get it down, a couple of days later it went down first time. Just make sure you don't try and force it, you can apply a little pressure but nothing more. Pete

I moved to Wales as a 12 year old in 1961, the very large house we lived in was due to be demolished as it stood in the way of the Rock Ferry By Pass. The house we moved to was massive and had been empty for 2 years following the death of an elderly lady who lived there. Being an only child and with no other houses anywhere near I was always listening out for strange noises, most of them turned out to be birds in the loft or in a few cases birds stuck in the chimneys. Anyway, we rented this house, it was owned by The Castle Fire Brick Company who in turn were owned by John Summers Steelworks. The house still had a lot of "stuff" lying about, one of them was a diary belonging to the old lady from the early 1900's . There were also some wonderful drawings she had made as a child. She was one of a large family of 8 children but when we read through the diary we came to some pages where she described no less than 5 of her siblings all dying in the same week in a flu pandemic that swept the country in the early 1900's or possibly the late 1890's. Then, we later found out that her husband had hung himself in the house in the 1930's....shortly after that we received news that the person who had taken over the tenancy of our old house in Birkenhead had also hung himself in the house...how weird is that! When I was 15 or so, this weird noise started up but only late at night. I can only describe it as the noise you would hear if you stood a few feet away from an electrical sub station. This went on for several years and would last 15 to 30 minutes before it stopped. It could only be heard from my bedroom and seemed to be coming from the loft (which is where the suicide took place). The loft had been sealed by my Dad when we first moved in and according to him there was nothing up there to cause such a noise and the electricity supply was on the opposite side of the house. I left there when I was 24, the noises had stopped by then, but years later spoke to the next occupants who also heard strange unexplained noises. I don't think I'd ever want to live in an old, large and isolated house again . Pete

What's your favourite guitar solo? Or guitarist?
JetSet replied to glrnet's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Is that a Mott the hopple cover ? La roux Nope, Le Roux was an American 1980's melodic rock band pretty well unknown outside of Louisiana. This is an original song , with a stunning guitar solo at the end. The thing is this sort of band as good as they were IMHO were competing against established rock bands of that era and despite 4 albums never made the breakthrough. I followed The U.S/Canadian and to some extent the British rock scene very closely from the mid 70's to the early 90's when it fizzled out. A great time for music . Solo at 3:40 Pete -
I had to start from new with my Renault Clio for the simple reason that I needed to put my daughter, then aged 19 and a provisional license holder on the insurance. Worked out quite well when she came to insure the car herself as Admiral gave her one year NCB for being on my policy for 4 years. Pete

Funnily enough, I did run this through my mind some time ago seeing as I'll have a spare Zed at the Wales meet . I'm not sure the owner would have been too happy though . Pete

Not much I'd say, they hold their price remarkably well, much better than a 370Z, mint condition ones fetch crazy prices. Can't remember the exact figure my son in law paid for his 1994 911 about 5 years ago but I think it was very close to what I paid for my Zed brand new. Pete Now your in the 964 and 993 territory (air cooled) where you will be lucky to get one for under £25K Yeah, was in that region. Pete

Usual place for me please Graham....unless you can find someone slower . Pete -
Good advice. When I changed jobs in 1969 I soon learned that one of the guys I worked with owned a Lotus Elite of 1962 vintage. I was pretty impressed as he was only about 28. When I got to talk to him he told me that he'd owned it for 4 years but it was broken and had been for about 3 years. The Coventry Climax engine had gone bang and he simply couldn't afford to get it fixed. Fast forward to 2007 and I bumped into him at a company reunion, he still has the car and it still needs an engine . I also know of a guy who broke down in France on the way back from Le Mans back in 2011. His Maserati still hasn't been fixed as the cost of repairs is horrendous (you could get a 2 year old 370Z for what it's going to cost ) Pete
