  1. Yes, the A40 then onto the A49 is a good route, I drive it several times a year. Keep in mind The M4 in South Wales can be very busy and allow at least 30 minutes to get through Hereford. All the other towns on route like Ludlow and Leominster have By-Passes but Hereford doesn't and can be a nightmare in the rush hour. Pete
  2. Yeah, what I did was to print it out, write some notes then give the notes to Caroline (not that that helped ). I also zoomed into Google maps at road level and drove in virtual each critical junction. Pete
  3. That was one of the things that I didn't like about The Z4 the long bonnet. Turning out from junctions can be difficult and getting out of a parking space in a supermarket car park with a big Chelsea tractor right next to you is tricky. To get to our house you have to make a turn right into our lane off another narrow lane which is on a blind bend.... not easy in a Clio, difficult in The Zed and almost dangerous in a Z4 . Other than that I found the driving position somewhat uncomfortable, but that's more than likely a "just me" thing as Caroline found it great for her. Pete
  4. They are Cockchafers. They fly at dusk and are attracted by light. We get them here now and again and despite the fact they're harmless they are quite frightening if they buzz around your head (or land on it ). Cats find them quite tasty though . Pete
  5. Not expected to reach this far North thankfully Pete
  6. Doesn't look too bad to me. One thing you have to keep in mind is North Wales's micro climate, it can be blue skies in Chirk and belting down in Snowdonia or the other way around. I just took a look at the BBC forecast for Betwys-y-Coed for next weekend and it looks quite decent, highs of 22 degrees both Saturday and Sunday with light showers . Pete
  7. I think its roughly 28 m.p.h per 1,000 revs in 6th, so 84 m.p.h. Pete
  8. Run flat or with very little air in it would be my best guess. The problem with 30 profile tyres is that the walls are so stiff that when driving normally it's difficult to feel the difference if the pressure has dropped by 10-20 psi and even when parked up you can't really tell just by looking at it. Lucky you didn't have a blowout! Pete
  9. Welcome along . Rays were an option even on GT's, they only started fitting them as standard in 2006. Pete
  10. That was my Dad's first car also a 1958, I think it was an ex rental car, just 12 months old when he bought it. Pete
  11. Not really, it works O.K but can't use post codes and there's no updates for the CD version. Pete
  12. My first car was a 1965 "C" Reg MiniVan. My dad bought it (with my money I must add) as I knew nothing about cars in 1969. Paid £180 for it with about 40k on the clock. Just one owner too although looking at the old fashioned log book it was almost full of change of ownership stamps. The previous owner must have moved house 10 times in 4 years . . It was unfortunately riddled with faults..hole in the petrol tank, an orange warning light was on all the time and nobody knew what it was. There was a horrible misfire which turned out to be the HT leads, the heater was pathetic and all the grommets on the floor were missing and the drivers window, a sliding affair was stuck. It did however have a push button start and a dip switch on the floor . What happened to it...oh dear, without going into specific details I allowed someone else to drive while I was in the back (don't ask) . Got rolled over after the driver lost control and hit a kerb by The King's School in Chester on Boxing Day 1969. I was able to drive it home and the scrapman picked it up once the insurance wrote it off. Pete
  13. Welcome along , whereabouts in North Wales? Pete
  14. My original battery lasted just 2 years, mainly because the Zed had little use and stood on the drive for several weeks at a time. I obviously don't know the history of your car but if it stood on a dealers forecourt for several weeks/months then the battery life will be shortened by a considerable amount. Pete
  15. Probably , my eyesight isn't as good as it once was, I struggle to take everything in on really huge sets, say 60" and above. Pete
  16. Yes, my son in law had a 50" TV in a room no more than 12' x 14', just looked absurd. Our living room is 23' x 15' so a 50" looks just about right . Pete
  17. Sold to wizurd, thread can be locked. Pete
  18. Genuine Nissan spats, were fitted to my Zed from new and removed 12 months ago. The visible areas are in good condition although there are a few scrapes and scratches on the underneath . There is also some dulling of the black underneath the spats. I'm asking £40 for the complete set and I'm afraid its collection only or I can take them to The Wales meet next week. Thanks for looking. Pete
  19. Interior was updated in 2006, this tackled one of the main issues by moving the hazard warning switch as it was fairly easy to knock on with your elbow. Other changes were nicer knobs, different door cards, Illuminated ignition switch, illuminated steering wheel controls and a few other minor things. Exterior changes included new bumper with slightly different shaped headlight washers, uprated headlights, rear LED's and Rays are standard fitting from 2006 onwards. Also, Nissan engineers managed to add an extra 70 kilos to the weight . Differences are neither night and day or barely noticeable...somewhere in between I'd say Pete
  20. Just had to use Caroline's LapTop to post a message as my XP machine was temporarily down and I noticed the EMotion Icon was greyed out. Is this a known issue the same as tablets? Cheers, Pete
  21. GT4's do fetch a premium even if they are a bit tatty, I'd say that one was £1,500 - £2,000 overvalued. Pete
