  1. Cars don't need to be exotic, it was the done thing to wave at oncoming MG Midgets/Austin Healey Sprites back in the day. Pete
  2. I got flashed by a TVR on the Evo Triangle last Sunday . Pete .
  3. I hate heights even more than flying, no way would I go up there. Pete
  4. I'll look up the figures for American sports cars, but I suspect you're right. However, BMW at least, have a huge presence in the U.S, loads and loads of Euro Boxes over there but very few Z4's, not sure about Audi though and American sports cars sell in minute quantities outside of The U.S and Canada. What really matters though is worldwide sales, the 350Z was considered a huge success but I wouldn't be surprised if sales of it in The U.K were higher than the rest of Europe put together? I should add that Nissan sold 70,000 vehicles in The U.K last year, Toyota sold 47,000 and for some strange reason The U.K is the only country in the world where Nissan outsell Toyota. BMW sales 73,000, Audi over 100,000. Pete
  5. Not a lot to do with the Nissan badge, in The U.S.A sales of The Zed series held up much better than The Z4 or The Audi TT, only Porsche did better. Cars Sold in The U.S.A Z4...........2004.......13,654, 2009..........3,523 350/370..2004........30,960, 2009.........13,118 Audi TT...2004........5,275, 2009............1,935 Porsche..2004.......31,473, 2009..........19,696 (Total sales of all Porkers) Maybe our American cousins don't have the same badge snobbery as us though. I will attempt to dig out further sales figures when I get a spare few hours. Pete
  6. I also spotted a Zed right close to The Moreton just as we left on the Saturday morning run...reg V6 *** (I think). He waved alright though. I thought it must have been a late arrival but I was bringing up the rear on the last group out and never saw it again, I'm sure some others in my group must have spotted it too? Pete
  7. BMW, Toyota and Honda all pulled out of F1 because car sales fell so sharply they simply couldn't afford it any longer. Porsche also saw a big drop in their sales lucky for them they have a massive mark up on every car sold. TBH, I'm surprised that Nissan haven't dropped The 370Z yet, worldwide sales have been at around 50% of projected sales when the car was released. Pete
  8. The police have been using fixed wing planes in places like Arizona and Nevada for 40 years. Some of the roads there are dead straight for many, many miles, you could reach crazy speeds in the right car. Pete
  9. Depends on the technology I guess. They've been able to accurately measure the speed of F1 cars, Moto GP and possibly the fastest of them all LMP at way over 300 kph to the nearest 0.1 kph, for at least 20 years. Pete
  10. Hmm, nothing wrong with the 370 but it was kind of the wrong car at the wrong time. Nissan started this project when the 350 was selling well and continued with it despite a large fall off in 350Z sales in 2007/8, the worst recession since the 1930's and a massive hike in crude oil prices. Pete
  11. Some great pics there Chris. Is this an optical illusion or do you only have 1 wiper Dave? Pete
  12. WTF..... Tuesday.........Cancelled by letter, phone Jury line after 5 PM...did that, message says not required, phone again on Wednesday Wednesday....Phoned Jury line..."Your Jury Service is now complete!" Bizarre or what . Pete
  13. I don't recall seeing this one before, standard Zed with Rays, registration UK 53 *** Pete
  14. Some of you on The Wales meet will know that I had to go home early to feed the cats. Well, the older cats can look after themselves for a few days, plenty of mice and rabbits around here but the new kittens can't fend for themselves just yet. Here are the offending kittens that cut my Wales weekend short. I also popped after the Saturday run to feed them as well . Pete
  15. Yes, spotted that. I don't know how the bumper is held in place but it could just be a bent bracket. Pete
  16. I'm 4 inches shorter than you but have to have the seat all the way back because of my proportions, long legs (34") and arms, short body. However I don't have the seat reclined as far as it will go by a couple of inches. A lot depends on your driving style though, I like to have my arms stretched out so my elbows tuck in to my body on cornering. Pete
  17. For me the rear LED's . Pete
  18. Great weekend that was over far too quickly but at least we only have 51 weeks till the next one . Thanks as ever go to the team, Will, Graham, Colin, Darren for the superb organisation and to the photographers on route, Andy, Lydia and Chris (who must have been cursing the decision to sell their Zeds ). Hope everyone has made it home safely and that you managed to notice the "Arrive Alive" mobile fund raising cameras on The A5 . Pete
  19. 911 in the 70's, no way I could afford one, RS Sierra in the 80's, just out of my reach so I settled for a Capri 2.8. Stopped having dream cars after that, just went for the best car I could afford. Got the Zed over it's competitors because I felt it was great value for money and a bit different to anything else out there. Dream car nowadays, don't really have one although a GTR would look nice on my drive . Pete
