  1. Caroline has this setup on her Zed, 20 inch wheels 10J front ET 25, 11J rear ET (not certain but I think 28). First thing to check is that they're going to clear the brembos and will they require spacers, Caroline's wheels needed a 10 at the front. Pete
  2. I've had mine from what was essentially new and apart from the time I had to replace the battery (it stood unused for the first 13 months of its life) I've never reset the computer. It was reading pretty much the same in 2009, when the battery was changed as it is now, that is 26.1 MPG. Seeing as I only do around 150 miles a month I rarely fill it to the brim as I see little point in carrying a full tank of petrol for weeks on end but I have on occasions taken note of my mileage and fuel added and done some calculations. On longer runs around 29/30 on shorter runs 20/22. Of course when the temperature drops in the winter it'll use a fair bit more fuel. Caroline's Zed has never been reset either, 7.8k when we got it and 22k on the clock now and hers has never reached 22 MPG but she only does short runs to work and back with the occasional trip to Cheshire Oaks. Pete
  3. The day Caroline picked up her Zed in 2010. Mine's changed a little since then Pete

  5. This one looks the most likely "Death walks behind you". All the original members of Atomic Rooster have passed away. Pete
  6. I have 6 of those in my collection Pete
  7. How sad. Spent a fair few bob in our local cafe playing White Room on the jukebox over and over again...B side was pretty good too! Pete
  8. The fastback is so sexy. Do it! I bet parking that up would be fun. Nice motor though. Pete
  9. I think there was a move 20 or so years ago to hold a GP around the streets of Birmingham. They actually ran a few F3000 championship races (same status as GP2 has these days) but an F1 race never materialised. For those curious you can watch the entire 1990 race here. Pete
  10. Hmm, yes, got attacked by a gang of youths in the city centre, maybe 6 or 7 of them and around 14/15 years old, including girls in the early 70's. I decked the first 2 lads and the rest ran off . Only other time I went was to run The Coventry half marathon. Pete
  11. This was the original cover for Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Street Survivors" album. Sadly and ironically , 3 days after its release three of the bands members and several of the crew were killed in a plane crash. The album cover was withdrawn shortly afterwards and replaced with a more sober image of the group. Depending on condition the album with the original cover can be worth up to $50 and up to $500 for the 8 track. Pete
  12. Yes, had Dotz back then (and a subby) Pete
  13. A few more from yesteryear. Pete
  14. Looks like he's used a couple of rolls of masking tape . Pete
  15. Works well enough for The Queen Pete
  16. Yes, I kinda missed out in the housing boom. The estate I bought my first house on had an opening day offer of £3,800 and the houses went to £3,900 the next day. By the time I started looking, just 18 months later, 3 bed semis were £5,500 and by the time I was in a position to buy £6,000. Then after almost getting to completion at 6k I was gazumped and had to start looking all over again..grrr. Still, I sold it a couple of years later for £8,500 Pete
  17. Shropshire is nice, affordable too, my uncle moved from Bognor to Preece Heath near Whitchurch when he retired. I also love Herefordshire and The Cotswolds. When I went on one of The Midlands meets that Wasso organised we passed through some lovely villages in Warwickshire. My Aunty lived in Surrey at Godalming, nice place but crazily expensive. Pete
  18. People did get married earlier in The 70's (I was 24) possibly because it was easier to get a mortgage, my first house cost £6,500 and my salary was £2,500 p.a. I was able to save the 10% deposit in about 3 months as I already had £400 saved up. Pete
  19. That's an Interlagos Fire , Brickyard Red's are prefacelift. Pete My bad. Easy mistake to make, the colours are very similar. I think Brickyard Red was a one year American colour only and there are none in The U.K. Pete
  20. If you really must know , I also got married for the first time in 1973, October actually. Didn't last too long though and I'd remarried by 1979. That lasted until 1997 and I've been with Caroline since 1998 and married for 6 years. Pete

  22. I agree about the 10 year re-tests - but don't see any connection between age and ability. Of course the fact that I'm 58 has some bearing on this, but there's plenty on here who are heading up in the age stakes, but not necessarily diminishing in driving skills. There's plenty of young idiots as well as old fools - and plenty of very young people who have considerable skill. The age element is less important than the skill . . . Testing every 10 years would require in the region of 3.5 million tests every year which is probably impractical, however I'd go with a retest at 70. The thing is though that the tests have changed so much over the years. When I passed my motor bike test in 1967 there was no written part to the test, you just drove around the block and the examiner just observed from various places. After passing my test this entitled me (and still does) to drive any motor bike, no limit whatsoever. Same with the car test which I passed first time in 1969, no written test, just a few questions on the highway code and a few set maneuvers, easy peasy. Also entitled me to drive some classes of vehicles that you would need to pass a further test these days. Pete
