  1. Nasr and Erikson in at Sauber. The provisional entry grid for 2015 is also out. List includes Manor Racing (formerly Marussia) and 1Malaysia F1 (formerly Caterham) however Manor won't be able to compete unless they send at least one car to the final GP. After months of silence from Forza Rossa there's a whole pile of news of them in the last few days. Basically, they have gone down the Haas route and delayed their entry until 2016...not enough time to get their car ready, money hasn't turned up, etc. Be amazed if we ever see them TBH. Pete
  2. Yeah, I accept that, but Audi sell 80% of their cars outside of Germany where awareness of DTM is probably limited to hardcore Motor Sport fans whereas F1 has a pretty high profile in most parts of the world. There's little doubt that Audi/VAG have looked at F1 in the recent past and decided that the time isn't right but I'm convinced they'll have a bash at it somewhere along the line, maybe as an engine manufacturer, maybe when Bernie's gone Pete
  3. Caterham have also reportedly entered the 2015 championship under a different name. http://www.f1zone.net/news/manor-and-caterham-submit-2015-entries/44314/ Pete
  4. I once accodently changed down from 5th to 2nd at about 70....in a Capri 2.8i . In a couple of cars I've had in the past, can't remember which ones but a long time ago, I've almost managed to get it into reverse instead of 4th . I must admit I frequently and purposefully go from 4th to 6th, especially where there's a 60 limit. Pete
  5. They've also recently employed Stefano Dominicali. Yes, another major manufacturer or two is what F1 needs right now. Pete Rumour mill also stated they're developing their own engine ALREADY! I've also seen they want to buy out a team to avoid the costs of starting ground up, specifically RedBull, but I'm not sure I believe that one though as they have another few years with Infinity. I believe they looked at the new engine regs along with Toyota and Honda. Toyota didn't do very much and dropped the idea and as we all know Honda went ahead with the project. Audi went as far as designing the engine and testing parts of it on a dyno. This was back in 2013 and the project may have been shelved by now. Rumour has it though that Audi may not continue in LMP beyond 2015 as they will need a new car for 2016. They are said to spend £230 million per season with virtually no prize money and outside of Le Mans not a great deal of publicity. So far Audi are denying any talk of F1, but it must be very tempting to try and knock Mercedes off its perch and if Audi/VW came in I'm sure BMW would prick their ears up. I also hear that Ford are looking at a return in a couple of years time, Cosworth are just waiting for the go ahead, the engine has already been designed. One other manufacturer that may be tempted is Hyundai, rumours have persisted since as long ago as 2006 until quite recently that F1 is on their radar. One other item of interest that I picked up is that Forza Rossa are negotiating (presumably with the administrators) to buy out the Caterham equipment including the cars. Pete

  7. It's emerged today that Barichello was to drive in the last 3 races this season for Caterham. It's also being reported that Marussia will be back for the last race of the season with Chilton and Rossi. It's understood that they have lodged an entry for 2015 too. Pete

  11. This one seemed a bit off with me, so after a little research I found that at 33 light years it can cause quite a bit of damage to the Ozone but isn't cataclysmic until it's a bit closer. 12. The problem is that F1 needs backmarkers to showcase new talent. Webber, Alonso (Minardi), Riccardio (HRT), Vettel (Torro Rosso) Damon Hill (Brabham) Keke Rosberg (Theodore then ATS), James Hunt (privateer March) even Senna (Toleman) plus numerous others started in non competitive machinery and performed well enough to get noticed by the bigger teams. It's difficult enough as it is to get an F1 drive, the last two GP2 champions haven't found a drive for example. Obviously, we don't want to see mobile chicanes and teams need to be well within the 107% rule but slower cars are a fact of life in every racing series there's ever been and lapping cars should be in the skillset of every decent driver. 13. James Hunt competed at Wimbledon in the junior event Dan Gurney was the first F1 driver to wear a full face hemet. He was also the tallest driver ever to win an F1 race (6'4") Steve Morse of Deep Purple was a commercial pilot with Atlantic Eastern Airlines. 15. Yes, It's roughly 55p a litre these days. Premium fuel (95 RON) is around $3.30 a gallon but a U.S Gallon is only 82% of an imperial gallon (3.7 litres) . 98 RON (if you can get it) would be 60/62p. Pete American guy was over here through work and was moaning about the price of fuel in the US... when I showed him our prices he just couldn't get his head around it! Swings and roundabouts I guess. Fuel is cheap in The U.S.A and salaries are higher but for example the cost of anything to do with medicine would be eye opening to most of us. Giving birth in a hospital a cool $9,000 ($3,500 if you're insured). Then there's dental treatment, prescription medicines, hospital and doctors bills, old peoples homes....much more expensive than The U.K. Pete

  17. A couple of other lesser known lead singers have also died in 2014. Most people won't have heard of them but will have possibly heard of the bands they fronted. First off is Fergie Fredrikson who was the lead singer for the band Toto from 1984 onwards. Here he is at work for his previous band Le Roux. Secondly there was Jimi Jamison who was the lead singer for the American band Survivor.
  18. Ran into this problem myself once. The wheels I had didn't have the inserts inside the wheels for the bolts to fit into. They were Vertini wheels BTW. Pete
  19. Well. maybe . I think it started off as a separate forum then merged with the other one. Someone who's been around the Zed scene for longer than me will probably know for sure. Here is their forum logo. EDIT, Logo won't post........... Pete
