  1. Nope, didn't have a camera in 1977 . However, I did find a photo of a GT6 engine bay and you can see how big the battery was and how much space there was to wedge the much smaller battery in. Pete
  2. A new one on me RE08--- parked up in ASDA about 4:30 this afternoon. Pete
  3. I never take these online petitions too seriously, I mean like over 10,000 people have signed a petition addressed to Death asking to bring Terry Pratchet back . https://www.change.org/p/death-bring-back-terry-pratchett Pete
  4. Had to change mine on Tuesday, it's on its third battery now as I had to change it after leaving it standing for over a month in June 2008. It's a tight fit alright and with a full size battery it's a real pain to get the rear clamp into position. In the past I've had to fit smaller batteries into vast spaces. A good example was when I replaced the original battery on my Triumph GT6 with an almost new but much smaller battery from a Triumph TR7 that came from a write off (at that time my dad had contacts). What I did was to jam the battery in with wood and put an elasticated spider grip around the battery. Pete
  5. You would have to ask the dealer who originally sold the car back in 2009, It's pretty difficult to get precise information but from my own experience I understand that the stock of U.K 350Z's had pretty well run out by September 2008. With a 9-12 month gap before the 370Z was available the dealers bought up all the unsold 350's in Ireland and sold them off cheaply. I'd have had one myself but they only offered roughly what I could get now for my 2006 350Z in P/X. Pete
  6. Yes, because they were unregistered they don't count as imports. Our local Nissan dealer bought about 20 of them and sold them for 22k or so. Some of them are facelifts dating back to 2007 but the majority were 313's with of course the bulge bonnet. Pete
  7. Welcome. The first screen is from a prefacelift 350Z and is most likely a "Nurrish" SatNav. These are touch screen SatNavs made by a member on here, Dave Nurrish. The second screen is from a Japanese Imported 350Z and doesn't work in The U.K/ Pete
  8. They are bolted on but its the adhesive that's the problem. Removing the adhesive without inflicting any damage to the bodywork is tricky and time consuming to say the least. I had a garage do mine and they made a right mess of it but several have done it themselves. I'm sure somebody will be along to advise you. Pete
  9. Definitely, some guys on the 350z US Facebook page are saying there was never a 2009 350z, but on my registration document it says its a 2009, reg obviously says 09 and was registered March 4th 2009, so it must be right? Would be great seeing you all at a meet sometimes, you all seem like such a great bunch of people. Welcome along. They stopped making The 350Zed in 2008. What you have there is most likely an Irish import, the wheels are the biggest clue to that. Anniversary wheels were standard on Irish cars but were not even an option on U.K cars (apart from the limited edition GT4 on which they were standard). When the Irish economy went bump in 2008 the cars were bought up by Nissan dealerships in The U.K and sold as new. This was around September 2008 so they'll be 58 or 09 registered. Nothing to worry about though, they would just need a speedo conversion to make them identical to U.K spec. Pete
  10. Just keep in mind that there are 2 different washer covers that aren't interchangeable, one for the prefacelift and one for the facelift. Pete
  11. FIA to possibly open the door for a couple of new teams in 2016. Ideal time for VW and BMW to come in, but not much chance I guess. http://www.planetf1.com/driver/55667788/35455/Todt-FIA-may-open-tender-for-new-teams Pete
  12. They're no match for a cat though, neither are stoats for that matter. A few years ago one of cats trapped a polecat in our garden but wouldn't actually tackle it and I don't blame it. Haven't seen a weasel or a stoat around here for years, they used to be common, but last year there was a weasel or stoat that was cornered by one of our cats underneath some black plastic sheeting in our garden. Couldn't see it but I could hear it spitting furiously at the cat. Sadly, I haven't seen a Green Woodpecker since the late 1980's Pete
  13. One of our cats sleeps in a tunnel Pete
  14. I used to have one of these donkeys years ago. Completely useless but it looked nice. Pete
  15. Alonso's crash was described as nothing much really, car didn't even bounce off the wall apparently but it doesn't need to be much of an impact to give you a serious head injury. If anyone has seen Dale Earnhardt's fatal crash, it's on YouTube if anyone wants to look, then you'll see a classic example of what looks like a very modest crash especially by the standards of NASCAR. There was also the crash that killed F1 driver Mark Donahue in the 70's, walked away from the car, didn't seek medical attention but died 24 hours later with a clot on the brain. Pete
  16. Bet he is as well..!! When I raced FF1600 many years ago, I had an off at Silverstone in the wet, then they had catch fencing, which I went through 2 layers of of it and got hit on the head by one of the poles, which cracked my helmet and apparently (as I don't remember) knocked me out for a few minutes. Went to the medical centre, Doc waved his finger in front of my eyes and said "follow my finger", which hopefully I did. he said fine you can race tomorrow..!! This whole situation with Alonso is so over the top, unless there is something we don't know. I'll try and find out..! I was at what is now called Luffield in the 70's at The British GP when several F3 cars competing in one of the support races all went off and got themselves tangled in the catch fencing. One of the drivers, can't remember who, got knocked out, dangerous things those poles. Must have been 75 or 77 I reckon, shortly after they castrated Woodcote. Pete
  17. I've had success on various lenses , watch faces using Jewellers Rouge, which is very fine Ferric Oxide. Not used it on a windscreen but don't see any reason why it shouldn't work Pete
  18. Some other things I'm looking forward to. F1 starts up again in 2 weeks time, Tour de France in July and most of all close up photos of Pluto from The New Horizons probe in July and the asteroid Ceres from The Dawn Probe due any day now. Pete
  19. Retired. Worked as a lab assistant at Shell (Stanlow) , then moved on to a now defunct Pharmaceutical company. After completing my day release course in Chemistry I went to work at British Steel (Shotton) as a shift Chemist , had a couple of stints working on product development while I was there plus a stay at Birkenhead Docks, where the Iron Ore ships docked and unloaded, working on environmental issues. After I took redundancy I found employment as a Quality Control Chemist at Lubrizol, the largest oil additive company in the world. Retired early in 2003. Pete
  20. Mate of mine was -6 or so and he had both of his eyes done about 16 years ago, he's in his mid 50's now and its only in the last 12 months that he's started wearing reading glasses. Pete strange - I was told i would still need glasses at the end of the procedure and even then the chances are it wouldn't work effectively Yes, his glasses were so heavy that even after a couple of years you could still easily see the ridge on his nose where his glasses used to sit . He did have to travel down to London several times as there were very few places in The U.K that did laser surgery around 1998 and from memory it cost about £500 per eye. I knew quite a few people who had it done around that time but they were -3 or so and had it done in Liverpool for £300 per eye. I would have thought that they'd have got it off to a fine art by now. Pete
