  1. That's what I wrote, where is the complaint? Pete . Pete
  2. Will this apply to all cars or just new cars? Pete
  3. I'm not a busybody you know, yes, it annoys me but I'd never be out of the police station if I reported everyone who was committing some sort of offense, like using their mobiles phones. Pete
  4. I don't disagree but the problem is that if you taxed aviation fuel it'd be us that would pick up the bill in higher fares. Pete
  5. There's always going to be some unfairness in the system and you've highlighted one of them although the number of exempt vehicles would be quite small. Another advantage of adding the duty to the price of fuel would be that vehicles that are currently untaxed would have to pay their share of tax. Good point. I live in an area where there is a large Eastern European population and on a trip down to ASDA I'll spot numerous cars with PL and LT plates. Foreign cars are supposed to be registered after 12 months but I know of one Polish car that's been parked on the road for 3 or 4 years. Pete
  6. I'm not complaining by any means, I knew exactly what I was taking on, but I've had my Zed for 9 years and have averaged less than 2.5k a year, so the pollution I've put out is probably the same as the pollution put out by a Micra doing 10k a year. They should simply drop the road tax and work out how much they need to raise the price of fuel in order to get back the tax they'll loose by scrapping VED. It's been discussed by various governments, even as long ago as the 1970's but it would seem that they probably think its a vote loser. Pete
  7. This has come up many times before. Cars registered on or after 23rd March 2006 are subject to the new tax bands based on emissions. The original legislation called for this to cover all cars no matter when they were registered, however, the government of the day capitulated to pressure from the trade/AA/RAC and other motoring interests and as a temporary measure allowed cars registered before this date to stay in their original tax bracket. It looks very likely that the temporary measure has been extended or forgotten about. Pete
  8. Well, maybe but my licence and yours will most likely expire before this becomes law. Pete
  9. Get there early, shops open at 10am. Try and leave before 11am if possible...lol. Pete
  10. Just looking at cars for when Caroline retires next year. I may be missing something here but are Renault really charging £250 for a test drive??? http://offers.renault.co.uk/cars/clio/hirepurchase Pete
  11. Spotted an import Ginger 350Z MC 53 --- parked up in Tesco this morning, looked to be in good shape. Pete
  12. I can remember using Stanney Lane and Wolverham Road as a short cut when I worked at Shell in The 60's when the A5117 was the main road to Manchester ! Pete
  13. Yes, both my original rears and the remaining original front tyre were found to be cracked in October 2010 and the car was registered in January 2006, just under 5 years old. Considering that my Zed sat in a showroom for 13 months before I bought it in February 2007 then it looks like rubber perishes with age. Sadly there was only 9k on the clock then and while the rears only had 2 or 3k left on them the front one would have been good for another 10k at least. Pete
  14. I don't usually comment on other members cars when they come to sell them, but having seen this one in the flesh it's absolutely stunning. Pete
  15. Intruder discovered in the bathroom last night . No idea where this one has come from, only 5 houses within a mile of me and none of them has a cat. Nearest farm is a mile and a bit away so guess it could have come from there. Obviously not a feral, he's in pretty good shape and not that scared of me, maybe he's been dumped or has just wandered off. He was here again tonight so he must like it around here and he's kinda cute Pete
  16. Yes, my son in laws mate has a Mazza and it broke down on the way to Le Mans in 2012, gearbox problem and I think the bill was over 10k, including shipping back to the U.K but I'll check that out. Pete
  17. I'm on my 3rd battery, the previous 2 gave up the ghost without warning. Did manage to charge the first one up but it only lasted a week before it died again. With winter on its way it's best to just get a new battery. Pete
  18. They're rather nice aren't they!!!! Pete
  19. Why has it got a Toyota badge in the rear window? Pete
  20. Can make quite a difference if you're only using it for short journeys. Just wait till it gets really cold though. Difficult to calculate exactly how much more fuel is used on a cold frosty winters morning but I'd put it at around 30% extra for the first couple of miles. Pete
  21. Still playing Trackmania United Forever, now with customized 350Z Pete
