Both my sisters had Hillman Imp's. One was blue and one was bright orange. They seemed like great cars. Yeah, my second car was a Hillman Imp Californian, the fastback version. Paid about £470 for it, 18 months old with 12k on the clock. Water pump failed shortly after getting it but that was done under warranty. Later on I had a Sunbeam Stiletto the twin carbed version of the Californian. Pete

Not unless they nuke them . Seriously though the only positive thing airstrikes will achieve is to soften them up/demoralize them, Troops will have to go in at some stage, Just like previous wars, you bomb the hell out of them, then send the troops in (WW2, Kosovo, Kuwait, etc). Doing nothing isn't an option with this bunch of perverted scumbags. Pete

A 4 year old MiniVan , FDM 319C. I sold my lambretta for £60 and my dad gave me the other £100, so £160. My dad's friend was a salesman at a well known auction house in Queensferry and they'd taken the minivan in part exchange, one previous owner, 32k on the clock. Pete

Stripped for parts would be my guess . Pete

The 350Z doesn't have a seat belt warning light for the passenger side. My best guess is that they fit both the cables to all Zeds (both LHD and RHD) and just activate/connect the one that goes to the drivers seat. Pete

Yes, I only had 7 lessons with a driving instructor too. Although my dad didn't have multiple cars at his disposal he did let me drive his Hillman Minx on every opportunity, including driving us both to work every day, 30 miles there and back, driving down to Orpington in Kent and back a couple of times (no M6 back then), must have driven over 5,000 miles I reckon. The lessons were just to iron out my bad habits, like not using the mirrors, etc. Pete

Yeah, I used to struggle when I went to The States. I can't stand coffee and you can't get anything like a decent cup of tea over there. Solution was to take Tea bags, sugar and a heating element that fitted into a cigarette lighter socket with us and buy some local milk. Not perfect, especially in Colorado which is way over 5,000 feet in elevation and consequently water boils at a lower temperature. Sure, I still drink loads of soft fizzy drinks when I'm over there but nothing is as refreshing as a nice cuppa Pete

I'm guessing that replacing the Nismo bumper must have been very expensive. Pete
-
Your paying to be the owner of a very small production run with a very highly sort after brand, Nismo, i dont think it has anything to do with bragging rights. Take a look at Nismo s or z tune Skylines compared to std. I'm afraid that to me it's just a base 350Z with an ugly body kit on it, doesn't even have electric/heated seats. S-Tune and Z-Tune are actually tuned by Nismo, this one just has the standard HR lump. Even if this turns out to be genuine,a GT4 in yellow with or without a Nismo kit or a Pearl White HR would be a better long term buy IMHO. EDIT....So it is genuine, thing is we don't know what sort of spec was on offer in Japan, lack of snow button is interesting though, thought all JDM's had them? Pete

As somebody said earlier in the thread the vast number of random stops don't produce an awful lot of positive tests. I would imagine that the majority of positives come from the fact that every accident means a breath test, no matter how minor the accident. Younger drivers are more likely to have an accident so will get tested more often. Targeted breath tests must account for a lot of positives too, my step daughter was targeted both times she got caught. 50% maybe? I know there are 45 million active licences in the U.K. You can check here for the age distribution....I'd do it myself but I don't have M.S Office on this computer https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/nts02-driving-licence-holders Pete

When I was 20, I went to a party, drunk far too much, threw up in a bucket in front of my friends mum, passed out, woke up in my van almost frozen to death (it was XMas eve). I didn't even know where I was but somehow found my way home (12 miles!! ), parked up at home, did the falling asleep/freezing routine again, dragged myself into bed then my parents woke me an hour later and dragged me off to my uncles for XMas lunch....felt ill for 2 whole days. Never again I said and have stuck to it since then. I was in a way quite lucky because I never liked beer anyway . Nowadays I might drink a glass of wine 2 or 3 times a year and maybe a glass of shandy on the odd occasion. I do however drink a hell of a lot of tea , Pete

I believe that this the interior of the Nismo Fairlady 350Z. Black rev counter, no plaque and no switches where the plaque goes on U.S models, but 3 buttons on the steering wheel. Pete
-
This is what the interior looks like on a left hooker. Note the positioning of the plaque and that the Jap car has a couple of blank switches where the plaque should go. I made a slight mistake by saying the speedo was silver, it's actually the rev counter. Could still be genuine, can't find a pic of a JDM car. One thing to note, when new the Nismo cost around $38k, a fully loaded 350Z actually cost slightly more. It may be unique in the U,K, but not worth paying an extra 5k just to have bragging rights. Yes, the last sentence says it all. Petrol sold in the UK must conform to BS EN 288 British Standards. This allows up to 5% ethanol in petrol. Tesco fully complies with these standards with the ethanol content of our fuels varying from 0 - 4.8% depending on the location and supplier. Pete
-
There's a couple more issues, Nismo has a silver speedometer, plaque should be on centre console, pic shows it isn't, wrong steering wheel. Pete
-
Hadn't noticed that, need to investigate further Pete
-
It's a lot easier for me to fill up at Shell, there's always a 10 minute queue at Tesco and it's further away. Pete

Just called a 350Z Nismo or I've seen it called the Fairlady Z Nismo The Nismo edition of the Nissan 350Z Coupé debuted at New York International Auto Show on April 4, 2007. This version featured the same engine as the regular 350Z (VQ35HR) but was only available with a 6-speed manual transmission. The car featured NISMOaerodynamics package based on the Super GT championship car, which included an aggressive front fascia with chin spoiler, side skirts, an extended rear fascia with under body diffuser and a rear wing. The car also had NISMO-tuned independent multi-link suspension developed by Yamaha, Brembo brakes with four-piston front and two-piston rear calipers (with 12.8-inch (330 mm) front and 12.7-inch (320 mm) rear rotors) and NISMO-branded gunmetal grey RAYS alloy wheels (18x9-inch front and 19x10-inch rear with 245/40WR18 front, 265/35WR19 rear Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires) and a NISMO-branded tuned exhaust. Yamaha also included a front and rear dampener to help with stability with the chassis. The conversion process for the Nismo 350Z began with a limited number of chassis being pulled from the assembly line to be sent to Nissan-tuner Autech to have structural seams hand-welded for greater body rigidity. This process made the Nismo 350Z a more capable track car than the other trim levels available at the time. The NISMO 350Z went on sale in the USA in July 2007 at Nissan dealers.[17][18] 1607 were produced for the 2007 and 2008 model years, and it was assumed that if there was a greater demand, more would be produced, limited to 10% of all 350Z sales. The NISMO model 350Z had a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $38,070 for the 2007 model year. Pete
