You'd be surprised how many UK cars actually end up abroad. Fair comment, having just investigated what a second hand Zed costs in France then I can understand why someone would come all the way over here to buy one. Pete
-
Liam, have to say that I'd still be very wary about anybody buying from abroad. I'll do some research and see if this another kind of scam Pete

I understand your concern about short term owners. However having been on this forum for several months I've noticed that some Zed's have a quick turn around in ownership. Several reasons for this, while they are relatively cheap to buy, they aren't that cheap (to run) and I feel that some owners buy them without giving this enough thought. Then there are some who's circumstances change, redundancy, new arrivals in the family, company car, etc. So, although the number of owners should be kept in mind (and 3 owners in 7 years isn't bad) you should really concentrate on the car itself. Here are the official weights for U.S Models. Obviously, the face lift alone wouldn't add this sort of weight so there must have been several undocumented changes. pre 2006 Coupé: 3,188 lb (1,446 kg) (Base) 3,197 lb (1,450 kg) (Enth) 3,217 lb (1,459 kg) (Perf) 3,247 lb (1,473 kg) (Tour) 3,225 lb (1,463 kg) (Track) Roadster: 3,428 lb (1,555 kg) (Enth) 3,462 lb (1,570 kg) (Tour) 2006-onwards Coupé: 3,339 lb (1,515 kg) (Base) 3,346 lb (1,518 kg) (Enth) 3,400 lb (1,500 kg) (Tour) 3,404 lb (1,544 kg) (Grand) 3,353 lb (1,521 kg) (NISMO) Roadster: 3,580 lb (1,620 kg) (Enth) 3,600 lb (1,600 kg) (Tour) 3,602 lb (1,634 kg) (Grand) Pete

Greeny, it's a scam, here's some more detail of what exactly the scammers are doing. They'll already have your EMail if you included it in your add but that's not what scammers at this level are after. http://www.suite101.com/content/car-buy ... al-a215956 That's just one plucked out of the internet at random. Lots of this going on, sadly very little is being done about it. I do believe that a similar post to yours appeared here a few months ago. BTW, Some things I never do....answer international calls or calls that say unavailable or withheld. Pete

I remember him well from my days of following F5000 all over the country, small guy, looked like a young kid in the 70's despite the fact he must have been at least 30 . He was known as "Crashley Ashley" back in the day , often wondered what happened to him Pete

Caroline used to have a really nice MR2 Turbo...then she was offered a company car, she chose an Audi TT and sold the MR2. 18 months down the line, she'd spent the money she got for her MR2 and was made redundant...no car, no money had to start again with a Daewoo Lanos Pete

Flattened my battery once, even with decent terminals it wouldn't start from my 1200cc Clio (absolutely zilch) , but started O.K from my wife's Z4, I'm guessing Zed's need a fairly beefy battery to jump start from. Pete

Yes, The rolling radius for the Zed is designed like that. Many other performance cars also have staggered tyre sizes. The figure is roughly 3% bigger rolling radius at the back than the front for the 350Z, so for example 245/35 and 275/35 would be ideal for 19 inch wheels Pete

Most of my miles are my commute to and from work, I don't drive like a grandad but then I don't drive like I just stole the car either. I have also been on quite a few spirited drives with some guys on here. I drove around for most of the winter (Dec - Jan) in all weathers with no ABS and no TC due to a problem with a rear light switch so I guess that tells you something, good or bad depending on your viewpoint... I must admit I am surprised how well the tyres have lasted, are yours REO50's too? Mine are RE 040's. My driving style is pretty conservative, don't spin the wheels, drive well within my limits around corners, etc. I guess the RE 040's are a bit softer, although there's still tons left on the fronts. Pete

I wouldn't bother buying the part worn fronts, just get the rears and change them when you get a chance. Then change all 4 later this year. BTW, I'd be interested to know how on earth you get 18k+ out of a set of tyres...I mean it's not like I throw mine around and yet the rears are pretty well finished after 9.6k Pete

Welcome . Don't know what the rear spoiler is, looks like a Nismo V1 with the base removed but I'm sure someone will recognise it. Pete -
Some HELP needed please, 350z Import
JetSet replied to tprice's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
O.K, If you have that size on all round then there's your problem, rears should be 2 sizes bigger, ie 225/50/17 front and 245/50/17 rear. Pete -

Welcome to the forum . What are the tyre sizes? Pete -
Although its not in Wales, its actually right on the border, it's well worth a visit to Chester if you've not been there before. There's so much to see and do and it's all compressed into a relatively small area, you can walk round the Roman walls or visit the City Centre with its unique shopping rows. Chester also has the best and biggest Zoo in The U.K Pete

Presumably, if one of the doors is unlocked then it works O.K? Pete

Sadly, that's very true, left mine standing for a month and although I got it going again it just wouldn't hold the charge after that . Pete

Welcome to the forum . While its true that 2006 model has a few extra bhp its also a fact that it weighs considerably more than the older version, around 75 kgs so the performance difference is pretty slim tbh. The main difference as I see it is the uprated lighting and interior are enough of an improvement to make them a bit more desirable. Pete

Yes, I would have thought that the TC would have a built in allowance for slight differences in rolling radius as the tyres wore down. The Celica I had before The Zed had a very similar TC problem, it would kick in on right hand bends at low cornering speeds for no apparent reason. Started doing it with less than 900 miles on the clock and gradually got worse. The dealer reset it on the first service and that cured it for a while. However it came back and an examination at the next service revealed a warped disk at the back and uneven wear all round. Can't complain though, Toyota replaced the disks and pads on all 4 wheels under warranty and that fixed it. Pete

Finally Joined! Another happy zed owner

Welcome to the forum and Zed ownership . There are apparently at this time only 2 companies that can remap the Zed, one in Leeds and the other in the south of England, you can of course do all the other mods you've listed yourself. Pete -
Funny you should mention that Let me know when the wheels are free, I thought the best thing would be to contact Tarmac and see if he can transport them down via his new company. Have you got your new wheels yet? Are you saying the car needs a clean.....the cheek of it I don't have my new wheels yet but you can have the Rays anytime from the 25th onwards . I can swap them over next week, providing my back is fully recovered from the last wheel swap I did. Pete
