  1. Yeah, just take their number and report them. While there are plenty of idiots who will try and bully you there are 10 times as many who just don't realize that they are tailgating. On a recent motorway drive in my Clio I estimated that probably about 20% of drivers leave sufficient room, about 60% drive too close and the remaining 20% drive dangerously close. There's a stretch of Motorway on the M56 near Runcorn where they have painted chevrons on the road and signs to leave a 2 chevron gap between vehicles. I was in inside lane doing 70 but overtaking me at about 85 was a line of cars about a third of a chevron apart . Pete
  2. Same here, had to sell my Lotus Europa to put a deposit down on a house. Going from a Europa to a Mini 1000 was something of a shock Pete
  3. Not too far behind you Will . should make the 1,000 before Wales Pete
  4. Vettel won his first GP in the hopeless Torro Rosso back in 2008, he just blew everyone away on a wet track, I knew that day he was a bit special. Hamilton has only ever driven for a front running team but it's obvious that he's very fast and his race craft is excellent, second only to Alonso of today's front runners. I can see a good three driver race for the championship this year . Pete
  5. If you're doing an 8 mile round trip to work and back then that's all you'll get . The highest average I've ever seen is 31.3 it's currently at a more realistic 26.8 over the last 4,000 miles or so. Pete
  6. Yeah, looks to have a Nismo kit on it but well overpriced, somewhere around 2.5k would be my guess. Pete
  7. Vettel is a very young guy and he'll get better. He certainly has the potential to become one of the all time greats once he irons out the mistakes. No doubt about it Hamilton is also exceptional and I can see some great battles between the two of them (and Alonso) this year. Can't wait for Malaysia Very impressed with Perez too, a great debut, in fact this could be the best intake of rookies for a while Pete
  8. As Beau has said, it's not that difficult to get over 30mpg on a long run. The Zed drinks fuel like crazy in the first 3 or 4 miles then once the engine warms up the mpg is very reasonable. I'm only getting 2mpg less than my previous car a 1.8 Toyota Celica. Welcome to the forum BTW Pete
  9. Both Saubers have been DQ'd for a technical infringement regarding their rear wings. Sutil moves up to 9th, Di Resta to 10th. Pete
  10. Yeah, going to attempt to get up myself, going to be a big struggle as I've stayed up the last 2 nights as well . Pete

  13. Never been broken into but had a few things taken from the garden when the A55 was under construction 25 years ago (some underwear from the clothes line and gardening tools). I live in a very modest cottage that's hard enough to find so security is pretty low on my list of priorities. Pete

  17. The reality is that there is already an unofficial speed limit of 80 on Motorways, as long as you're not tailgating, driving erratically or doing 80 in fog or heavy rain then you're very unlikely to be pulled. The only problem with making the official limit 80 is that it'll push the unofficial limit up to 90 (80+10%+2mph). I'd go for a 75 limit with an unofficial of 85 for a trial period first... Pete
  18. Some younger drivers think they're immortal and often drive well beyond their limits, it's only a matter of time with some of them. Young lads are a particular menace they're easily distracted and just don't have the sense of responsibility that older drivers have. We've had several fatal accidents around here involving young men, what's noticeable is that they like to show off to their mates and especially to young girls. It's often the case that when they have fatal accidents...1, there are no other vehicles involved and 2, they are quite often the only survivor as they are the only ones in the car wearing a seat belt. I believe that a curfew for under 21's who've recently passed their test is or has been under consideration. Just generalising here, but older drivers, well, younger and middle aged men tend to be more aggressive, driving too close, cutting you up, women and van drivers are the worst offenders for using mobile phones, and just about everyone, young and old. fails to use signals these days. Jeez, when I took my test I had to do hand signals Pete
