I can see Kimi swapping places with Bottas but I would have thought that Massa would stay at Williams. While its true that Rosbergs contract is up I can't imagine that Mercedes would let him go especially if he's World Champion. I suppose he could go to Ferrari but I just don't see it happening. Pete

Just read this on The BBC. Quite shocked especially as he has Red Bulls only podium this year. Pete

There's only one fixed camera in Wales on the A55 (at Colwyn Bay in a 50 mph limit) and The Mobile Cameras (Go Safe) don't operate on The A55. Don't think Cheshire Police use Mobile cameras on the Chester to North Wales section of The A55 either. There are plenty of unmarked cars but I find that if you stick to the limit, 70 in most places they don't bother you. One of the main tasks of the unmarked cars is to monitor the foreign HGV's on their way to Holyhead and I'm lead to believe that they won't pull you as long as you're under 80 mph. In fact when the road gets busy mainly in the summertime you'd be hard pushed to get up to 70, or 30 along the section by my house! The A55 has many accident blackspots, like the Rhuallt Hill, Ewloe Interchange, The Flint and Dobbs Hill exits or The Roundabouts at Penmaenmawr and Llanfairfechen . The road was built on the cheap and does not meet today's standards, for example the slip roads are too short, in some cases too close to each other with major "weaving" and small minor roads empty out onto The A55 with no slip roads at all and of course no hard shoulder anywhere. Apart from the stretch in Angelsey I know this road like the back of my hand, I watched it being constructed from my back garden, driven it hundreds if not thousands of times. If they spent a couple of Billion on it widening it to 3 lanes (The Conwy tunnel cost close to 200 Million back in the 80's so widening that would be at least half a billion today), removing the roundabouts and lengthening the slip roads then 80 would be more realistic but the roads budget is being eaten up in South Wales by The M4 relief road. For the first time since I was eligible to vote I've still got no idea who I'm voting for in The Welsh Assembly election. Sadly, the option to scrap the Welsh Assembly isn't on the ballot paper. Not voting Labour as I've done in the past as I have been treated abysmally by them in the last 10 years (long story, I'll reveal it in time). Don't like Nationalism, so they're out, LibDems can't be trusted, Green Party....hmm. UKIP, no chance. Would have considered the Cons but they want to raise the speed limit on The A55 which is already a death trap and their leader in Wales is a smarmy git who gives me the creeps. However,The Cons have the best chance of unseating the incumbent Labour candidate, a career politician who thinks he is too important to be bothered by constituents like me. It could well be that I'll go into the polling booth and make up my mind then Pete

As far as I can make out both Brickyard Red and Interlagos Fire are unique to the 350Z so goodness knows how much a respray would cost. Of course, it might not be Nissan's Brickyard Red, maybe a body shop came up with something very similar? Pete

I don't believe it was. I know you could get in US, not sure about Japan or rest of Europe. Of course that doesn't stop anyone doing a colour change, it is a nice colour after all. Only in The U.S.A from what I can gather and they were only sold in 2003. There are a couple of the very similar Interlagos Fire's about, imported from Japan but these would be on 06 plates I think. The interior suggests its a U.K car so must be a respray. That must be the shortest stubby.........ever Pete

McLaren 650S Spider crash within minutes of ownership
JetSet replied to valy's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Clearly in a built up area with most likely a 30 limit, road looks slightly damp. Any sensible person buying a Supercar would take it very easy for a few days or weeks, get to know the car. Anyway, from studying the 2 photos it looks to me like the car was actually travelling in the opposite direction to the way it finished up and it spun around on hitting the tree. Single car accidents like that are almost always down to driver error, If he'd have owned the car for 6 months then I would have given him some latitude but on the first day, c'mon. Pete -

When I first moved out to Wales, early 60's, Sonic booms were not that uncommon. Jets from R.A.F Valley would break the barrier over the area we now call the Evo Triangle and The Clwydian Hills. I think they stopped going supersonic 1963/64. Up until the 90's you could see Tornados flying subsonic at low level over much of the lesser populated areas of North Wales, but its less common to see any RAF activity nowadays. Pete

Well deserved, they've been consistent right through the season unlike their competitors. The comparison with Nottingham Forest is quite striking, Clough took a load of rejects and molded a yoyo club into European Champions, although I very much doubt that'll happen this time. Pete

Another dog I owned was a Fiat X1/9. Almost undriveable in snow or ice and things constantly going wrong. Bought mine with less than 4k on the clock, within 6 months the door had a massive rust sprout and Fiat refused to honour the warranty as they only covered rust from the inside. In the end it turned out that the door had been vandalised before I bought the car and the Fiat main dealer had bodged the repair so in the end they had no choice but to fork out. Very poor build quality, I should have known better but I really fancied one. Good concept but poorly executed, only kept it 12 months. Pete

You need headlights on when its raining, snowing or foggy and most importantly in twilight. It's not going to help you see any better but, it will help people to see you. What cars need are lights that come on automatically when the light level declines to a certain point, they've used this technology for years in cricket and indeed The Z4 Caroline owned had a manual version that you switched on when you got in the car. Generally speaking most people have got the message but there is a hardcore of those who refuse to put any lights on until its almost pitch black (mainly 4x4's in Black) Pete

My current 350Z. If I could have one of my old cars back though it'd be the Capri 2.8i I owned from 1985-1987, however looking on the gov site it would appear that it was scrapped in 2001. Another good one was the RS Turbo (G622 PLG) I owned for almost 12 years from 1989-2001 and that one is still on the road although the mileage now reads 25,040, somewhat less than the 116,000 it had on it when I sold it Pete

Without doubt my Lotus Europa bought in 1972 with 20k on the clock. Faults were..... Continual leak from the rocker box cover, a standard Renault one didn't fit properly and it was impossible to get one to fit the aftermarket cover. Gear linkage snapped Brake pedal fell off, I was doing close to 70 at the time Throttle pedal snapped Door handle broke...it was off an Austin 1100. Hub nuts at the rear constantly came loose. Lotus used a locking washer, absolute rubbish. Non standard exhaust needed tightening every few days. Both rear shocks failed within days of each other. Paint "spidered" Electric windows stuck in the on position occasionally, flattening the battery. Speedo cable snapped. Engine mounting snapped when I went over a sleeping policeman at Pontins in Rhyl (yes, they had them back then) Twin Weber carb had to be cleaned every few thousand miles. Doors needed rehanging. High winds lifted the boot up and it snapped in two. Other than that it was great Pete

Yes, the so called baby boomers are getting into their 60's and 70's so expect the trend to continue. Pete

Yeah, hardly a day passes without a celebrity dying. Never got into Prince, not my sort of music but " When Doves Cry" is a masterpiece. Could be wrong but I think Prince didn't allow his music on YouTube. R.I.P Pete

Have to agree with Dan here. There's no doubt that Suzie Wolff is very talented but we're talking about competing against the best drivers in the world here. Lesser formula where strength and endurance aren't a major factor can be advantageous to women as one factor in their favour is their weight, Danica Patrick for example weighs just 45 kgs . Not many sports where women can compete against men on a level playing field, showjumping and to an extent ultra marathon running (where women have more fat to burn) are the only ones I can think of right now. Yeah, they kill lots of pet dogs, cats and even foxes. Americans are usually excellent at making species extinct or extremely rare but despite declaring war on the coyote in the 19th century the numbers have increased several fold. Only a wolf, bear, cougar or the fearsome wolverine prey on coyotes but they generally don't overlap their enemies territory. Pete
