I'm afraid that if you've run it flat or even with low pressure for any distance, 20 miles and 15psi seems to be enough, then the fitters may well refuse to repair it. That's happened to me twice now but to be fair I could see the damage on the inside of the tyre Pete
-
Yeah, apart from the answers you've already had I think its important that you don't mix tyre patterns as well. The Maxxis are Assymetrical while the Bridgestones are I believe Rib pattern. There are occasions when the only alternative is to fit a non matching tyre...for example earlier this year it was impossible for me to find matching tyres due to the tsunami in Japan so on the tyre fitters recommendation we had to fit a Maxxis to Caroline's roadster as it was the closest match on pattern to the existing tyre. The tsunami may have lead to many others fitting the "wrong" tyres too Another thing to look out for is ill matching tyre sizes, for some it may well be a temptation to fit wider or lower profile tyres to replace your old worn out ones but this can play havoc with the TC. To fit the Nurrish you will need a new cubby but he would normally provide that for you and include it in the price. However, first off, I don't think it'll fit into a facelift Zed and secondly he is currently out of the country. Pete

Just spotted parked in ASDA, Queensferry. This one was on a private plate V31 XXX and it was an imported GM pre facelift model. Had a huge boot spoiler plus one of those neat roof spoilers and it also had some very nice wheels (type unknown to me). The most striking thing about this zed though were the the 2 massive white stripes running over the car, anyone know this car, certainly the first time I've seen it. Pete

Works fine on my 55 reg pre facelift Pete

Hmm, very nice, I guess that's a lift off hard top?, doesn't look anything like the coupe hard top to me. Yeah, wheels are a disaster area for The Z4, they not only corrode on the outside part of the wheel but on the inside of the rim too. I was told that if you find a Z4 with good wheels then they've been refurbed. Caroline's Z4 wheels were absolutely rotten on the inner part of the rim, the paint( or whatever was on there) had pretty well peeled off after she'd had the car 18 months and 7k miles from new. Had to have 3 or 4 warranty jobs on the car too compared to zero on the 350Z, nothing major though. Pete

That's the way to do it . There are ways and means of downloading from YouTube and you would be amazed at the amount of stuff on there these days. Just recently I've spotted entire LP's in high quality by a wide range of artists such as Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, The Who, Fleetwood Mac and many, many others too. Even really obscure bands from the 60's through to the 90's can be found on YouTube and the list is growing all the time . Pete

The only difference would be the quality of the case and its internal controller, cheap boxes don't normally last that long (I've got half a dozen broken ones) but decent ones, say for example Iomega or genuine WD boxes last for years. Also some of the better ones will have an extra USB port so you can plug a USB stick in One thing you should always bear in mind when selecting an external HD is if its possible to remove the HD without smashing the case apart. As far as NAS goes, yeah very handy, worth the extra £20 or so, the one I have from Iomega has a built in url web address so it's really easy to access it from anywhere in the world. The first NAS I bought was a 300gb device that I bought from EBay....although listed as new I found some deleted files on it which I was able to restore, they were someone's holiday photos Pete

Utterly shocked. Saw him wandering around Chester a couple of months ago and he didn't seem to have a care in the world. Local lad, he went to the same school as me and my daughter and he'll be sadly missed. One of those guys who didn't make any enemies, reading through the posts on the LFC forum yesterday it was obvious that Liverpool fans thought very highly of him. Just so sad. Pete

Looked into this recently as Caroline wants to ferry her granddaughter around in her Zed. Looking at the rules, once a child reaches 9kg's at approx 9 months then they can go in a forward facing group 1 child seat. Group 1 seats are suitable for 9kg - 18kg children and the only guidance that I can find is that the front seat should be moved back as far as possible, no need to turn off the airbag. Once children reach 13kg's they are required by law to go into a forward facing seat. From what I can see the age laws are just a rough guide, its the weight and height which is important here. Pete

Just yesterday we parked the roadster at the station and while waiting for the train a couple of women, in their 40's by the look of it, were looking over it. One of them remarked "I think its a BMW" Pete

If it has buttons on both sides of the steering wheel its a GT Except for the roadsters, for some reason they didn't get the extra buttons until 2006 Welcome to the forum BTW Pete

I think we can squeeze this one in Pete

Stupid question but did you use the right oil and fill it to the correct level? I don't think there's any service schedule for changing the diff oil as its supposed to last the lifetime of the car (in theory at least). No harm in changing it every so often though . Pete

One of the problems with laser surgery is that it isn't permanent. Once you reach 50 or so you will almost certainly once again need glasses for reading as your eyes age and currently there is no laser treatment for presbyopia (although you should retain your distance vision) Having said that, it's well worth getting it done if you're in your 20's or 30's, mate of mine had his done about 20 years ago and he was 5.5 and 6.0 , about the limit in those days. Good race by Lewis, he was really up for it yesterday. Alonso continues to impress, wonder what he'd do in a Red Bull? Button showed great composure in holding off Webber for lap after lap. Next up Brazil, lets hope we get a few showers during the weekend Pete

Things to look out fo when buying!!

Welcome to the forum. There are many factors that decide how long your clutch will last . Do you drive mostly in heavy stop/start traffic, do you rest your foot on the clutch while in motion? How smoothly do you change gear, are you in the habit of slipping your clutch during the traffic light GP or holding it on the clutch on a steep hill when you should be using your handbrake? Even on the flat and when stuck in a queue a lot of people just leave it in first with the clutch pedal depressed, Caroline does that ......Then as you say there's the hit and miss aspect or maybe just pure luck Some people are incredibly heavy on clutches, changes should be seamless, my ex used a technique that threw you forward with every gear change, no wonder she only used to get 30k or so out of hers Pete -
Overtook me this afternoon on the dual carriageway close to ASDA. Maybe my eyes are failing me but I'm pretty certain that it was on an 05 plate, thought it could be Steve from St. Helens as he has a retro plate on his 370Z? Pete

Welcome to the forum . Nurrish is out of the country for a couple of years but you do see the odd second hand unit for sale on these forums. There's also the Cookbot SatNav system but I'm not sure if he still sells these. If your JDM has a SatNav then I'm afraid it won't work in The U.K and apparently impossible to get them working. Pete

These are known as Easter Eggs. There's a list of google ones on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google%27s ... aster_eggs Pete

Doesn't say what mods though . Which Zed's don't have HID? Jap Imports or U.S cars? Pete

The guy I bought a set of wheels off had just changed his Zed for a Z4 M coupe and he was pretty pleased with it although he had some fairly major dramas with the electrics that still needed some attention. They are certainly very nice cars but they don't stand out really, Z4's all look pretty much the same to me Pete

Cut off date is 23rd March 2006, cars registered on that date and after pay the full rate. Pete
-
Yeah they'll fit, but unless they are for RHD cars then they'll be illegal as the beams will point in the wrong direction. Nissan facelift headlights are mega expensive(from Nissan). They do come up for sale here now and again though. BTW, I once used jewellers rouge to clean up a badly scratched headlight many years ago Pete

Yeah, I'm famous for the gaps I leave and don't get too concerned if someone starts tailgating me....some years ago I was behind a seven car pileup on a humpback bridge on my way to work in the dark, saw the brake lights come on in front of me and gradually slowed down as there was someone right on my bumper, he backed off when I slowed down and was promptly rear ended by the next car in the chain, luckily he didn't get pushed into me. There seem to be conflicting views if this was fog or smoke, one motorist has said it was definitely fog. If it was firework smoke then I can't see how you can lay the blame the organisers as they had permission and nothing like this has happened in the 50 years that the U.K has had Motorways. Pete
