  1. I got done for parking on Zig Zags...back in 1972 , I did see them while I was parking up but they weren't there the week before and I had no idea what they signified I'd been parking at this particular place for a few years. Got a £5 fine and an endorsement. Pete
  2. I think the plate was actually 3502 with the 2 "modified" to look like a Z. Yeah, got this from the DVLA site. The vehicle details for *JZ 3502 are: Date of Liability 01 11 2012 Date of First Registration 27 07 2005 Year of Manufacture 2002 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 3490cc CO2 Emissions 0g/Km Fuel Type PETROL Export Marker N Vehicle Status Licence Not Due Vehicle Colour BRONZE Vehicle Type Approval Not Available Vehicle Excise Duty rate for vehicle 6 Months Rate £121.00 12 Months Rate £220.00 I checked out 3507 too, no result returned so it is no longer on a 350Z. Pete
  3. I've never read so much bullsh*t. It's an Import and from the sounds of it the seller doesn't have a clue (or is lying through his back teeth) . A couple of those pics highlight that the colour of the sills and rear bumper are a really bad match as well....avoid. Pete
  4. Spotted in the car park at ASDA Queensferry today a Sunset import coupe with the reg JJZ 350* , looked fairly standard to me. Pete
  5. There are about 30 gun murders every day in America (less than one a week here) and many other accidental gun deaths too, so in the big scheme of things 12 deaths is no big deal to Americans. It wouldn't really matter if there were 300 gun deaths a day and a "Batman" massacre once a week, the vast majority of Americans consider that it's a price worth paying for their right to bear arms ....guns are just a way of life (and death) there. The gun lobby in The States is very powerful, any attempt by any government to tighten gun ownership up would be electoral suicide I'm afraid. While we will debate the merits of better gun control and shrug our shoulders, Americans will continue to bury their heads in the sand. Pete
  6. Yes, it's the constant on/off technique that knocks your MPG down. No need for it, doesn't get you there any quicker . It also reduces the life of your brakes and increases your chance of running into the back of another car. It amazes me that some people will spend hundreds of £'s on super duper cleaning products yet drive right up peoples rear ends ensuring that they pick up the maximum number of stonechips possible Pete
  7. Jon Lord was an unusual guy really, he was a fair bit older than any other members of the band and his solo albums were not what I would describe as rock music. I've got an album of his called "Saraband" (I think) which came out in the mid 70's, well worth hunting down if you've not heard it. A legend though, sad to see his passing. Pete
  8. If it's a blond lady who works at Charlies in Queenferry, save the card she has a few of them from Jetset and me. Indeed, this car is on an 03 plate and is easy to recognize as the exhaust tips have never been cleaned from the looks of it Pete
  9. I've got one, Blade Silver too, unfortunately I'm in North Wales . Pete
  10. VOSA recommends 2 miles, but that isn't a hard and fast rule unfortunately. As far as the rollers go, 4wd definitely a no-no, 2wd with lsd, well a lot of garages will run the test with both rollers running rather than taking them out on the road, saves time apparently I asked about this at my last MOT. Pete
  11. Some of you may remember this one Pete
  12. Took me a while too Pete
  13. Changed in 2006 with the facelift but those have been fitted at a later date as Sunset was discontinued with the introduction of the facelift. Pete
  14. Never been a hosepipe ban around here, not in my lifetime anyway Pete
  15. Funny, I went to every British GP from 1972 to 1988 (some of those were at Brands Hatch) and it only rained at one of them, 1975 I think. The only GP I attended abroad was the Monaco GP also in 1975 and it lashed it down most of the time The 1972 GP at Brands cost me £5 entry fee (at the gate on the day) and 50p for a paddock pass, I believe it's £155 entry fee these days One of the problems with attending a British GP is the sheer scale of the number of spectators, back in the 70's it was around 40-50k, with maybe 10k attending practise ,nowadays its 120,000 and a course in the middle of nowhere with just one main road can barely cope even if the weather is perfect. Pete
  16. A car can be Cat D for any number of reasons but seeing as a Cat D can be returned to the road without having to go through a vehicle inspection then the damage couldn't have been that serious. Cosmetic repairs are sometimes known as Cat X and aren't recorded. Pete
  17. Sadly, I don't have a pump, just a long piece of plastic tubing that has to be primed manually . This will mean a trip into what I would roughly describe as a field (it hasn't been cut or had cattle on it since 1985) which is of course totally waterlogged and overgrown with birch trees and brambles not to mention the nettles . Because of the way my house was built it means that everything from the gutters and surrounding land finds its way into the tank, consequently, even if we had no more rain (fat chance) it would take a week or 10 days to get back to normal levels left alone. Pete
  18. Sorry Pete I know it's not a laughing matter but all I can think about now is you sitting on your back step with your feet in the water fishing Roof developed a leak as well Sewers now overflowing, septic tank unable to handle all that rain, on the plus side the flood in the lane has subsided and no water in the house (other than what the bucket under the roof leak has collected) Pete
  19. Our lane was completely flooded with a river flowing past my back door, incredibly there's also a mains burst up the road adding to the problems. Blue skies now though Pete
  20. Not until the Jetstream shifts from its current position. I can tell you that there's absolutely no sign of it moving for at least another 2 weeks and there are already signs of yet another big storm heading our way for next week. Pete
