  1. It would be pretty easy to to set up a system that forces you to put your seatbelt on before the car will start. The first car I ever hired in The States in 1981, a bog standard Ford Escort, had such a system fitted, although you could unclip the belt once the engine had fired up. I'm not sure how safe it would be to have all the belts electrically locked with the engine running but probably better than not having a belt on at all. Pete
  2. + vat etc 40k more like. The rear is gash but it's the 380RS. I don't think theres one in the UK Yep, it's not a 350Z and would have to be imported as a 380RS, this could be a big problem....I found this in a 2009 posting on here. Pete
  3. I've had over 100 spam messages in the last 3 days and they're just the ones that have gone directly into my spam box, I guess there's another 30 or so that got through the filter. They include no less than 17 from PPIClaim, 9 from Accident Direct and 5 from Injury Claim, makes you sick really. I also get loads offering cheap viagra and other various medicinal products 3 or 4 four a week from Dabs Direct, I last dealt with them in about 2002 I only check my mail about once a month and there's usually only 3 or 4 that aren't spam. On top of that I get about a couple of telephone calls a day from various charities and Indian phone centres or people trying to sell me something, sometimes as late as 9.30 at night. The hike in stamp prices doesn't seem to have had much effect on junk mail either Pete

I had no idea, so I looked it up on a Land Rover site Too complicated for me...and the etiquette is mind numbing...for goodness sakes Pete

    Special wave?

Is it a secret or can you explain Pete
  6. Slightly different here, they open up if you click on them but the x closes them again...nice Zed BTW Pete
  7. It's quite difficult to get the 1st to 2nd gear change right...especially on the pre facelift models but once the car gets warm then the crunch is not that noticeable. Pete
  8. We're all different, I'm only 6'0" yet I have to have the seat right back as far as it will go and fully reclined too as I have extra long legs and arms and a very short torso. Consequently my head sits at a similar level to my 5'4" wife when I'm driving Pete
  9. About £40 a month, I average just over 2k miles every year. Caroline puts about £60 a month in her roadster. Pete
  10. They cost a bit more than a Zed when new, I think the basic S version was around 32k, a fully loaded Zed around 30k circa 2003 and after 9 years they fetch a bit more than a Zed, so not much difference in residual value really. Pete
  11. I thought all the late HR Zed's had Sat Nav fitted; Even a base model car had Sat Nav I thought, I haven't seen a late model without Sat Nav. I'll try and keep it short . Up until the introduction of The HR, every single 350Z had to be ordered from a main dealer and you would specify what options you wanted to be added. After the financial crash, which roughly coincided with the introduction of HR update model, Nissan and their dealership network only brought in 350Z's with the SatNav fitted. You could in general pop along to your friendly Nissan dealer, hand over your cash and drive away with one a few days later...if you didn't fancy one with a SatNav, then you simply placed an order and waited a few months, dealerships figured out that folks would rather pay the extra £1,400 or so rather than wait for an indeterminate time. I worked this out after a conversation with a Nissan main dealer in 2008 when he told me that he could get me one within a week but it'd come with a factory SatNav Pete
  12. Well it does have 33 extra bhp but the HR car weighs around 75kgs more than the 276 model, so the power to weight ratio isn't really that much better. For day to day driving there's not a huge amount of difference, however once the revs go over 5k then you do notice the extra grunt. Always worth getting the newest Zed you can afford TBH, the newest 276 models are getting on for seven years old now and most will have had several owners, one owner 276's are getting fairly scarce these days. Pete
  13. I've driven up and obviously down Pike's Peak. There are no safety barriers at at all so definitely not for the faint hearted, in places there are drops of several thousand feet. Going up is pretty scary, I don't think I exceeded 30 and there were at the time sections of graded roads rather than ashpalt. The drive to the top and back is around 50 miles but to give you an idea of how steep it is there is a sign at the bottom saying don't enter unless you have at least half a tank full of gas . At 14,100 feet I believe its the second highest road in The U.S. It costs around $25 to do the drive but the views from the top are stunning Pete
  14. Wow, she's really fit! Hard to believe that 2 of her 3 husbands left her for other women as did her long time partner . Pete
  15. Caroline Wozniacki, Denmark, Tennis Pete
  16. I don't know what we've got here but I don't think you can put a 56 plate on a 2003 car Pete
  17. You're probably going to need a CD to get that unit working, don't think the DVD is compatible with a 2004 Zed....I think the DVD's only work on the facelift models. Pete
  18. Their laws are far closer to ours than to America. Guns are held mainly for hunting and competitive shooting, personal hand guns aren't allowed. You need a permit for which you need to pass an exhaustive test and have no criminal record. Unlike America though, nearly all gun crime(which is very low) in Norway is by illegally held weapons. The problem with massacres, and they happen in many countries, nobody can deny that, is that these are the ones that grab the headlines. The steady drip of unfortunate casualties are usually only reported locally. BTW, some of you might already know this and a few of you might remember the event known as The McDonalds massacre just outside San Diego in 1984...well, I was in that restaurant just 5 days before the massacre occured , that's where my interest in American gun law began.
  19. Just some figures, 511 Police officers were killed by guns alone in The U.S in the period 2000-2010. An astonishing 51 of those were killed by their own guns! In the U.K there was just one policeman and one policewoman killed by guns...one of the killers turned out to be an American on the run, and the other one was a gang of Somali asylum seekers. I was told something similar, "It's people that kill, not guns", it's a mantra they repeat. One of the problems is that many Americans, even some highly educated ones are very ignorant of what goes on outside of America. On one of my holidays in The States I was once asked "What language do you speak in England?". Pete
  20. That pretty well sums it up really. Americans I've spoken to know that if someone breaks into your house they'll be armed, because most householders are armed. Anyway, a fairly predictable wild west like reaction http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-18980974 Pete
  21. As long as you set your price lower then it shouldn't be a problem, not going to be worth much in a few years anyway . Because its a cat D? So more or less everyone is worried about everything related to what could happen because a car is registered as a cat D? Ahhh well No, I'm not saying that. I look at it like this, if you pay 9k for a Zed or 7k for a Cat D Zed, then they will obviously both depreciate. Let's say for arguments sake that you keep the 9K Zed for 3 years then when you come to sell it, it'll be worth say 6k, but the Cat D will be worth around 4k, so you'll lose around 1k per year no matter which car you go for. On the other hand, as the value of Zed's drop then once they reach a certain value, then Cat D's won't be as attractive to potential buyers. I have no problems with Cat D's but they do need to be checked out thoroughly before purchase. With regard to engine damage, then an aqua lock is possible but there are other alternatives, for example, putting diesel in can seriously damage the engine, although I'm not sure if you could make an insurance claim for that:shrug: . Sabotage by a third party, well I should know about this as someone once put a bag of sugar in my petrol tank , but the Zed's tank is quite secure really. Pete
  22. As long as you set your price lower then it shouldn't be a problem, not going to be worth much in a few years anyway .
  23. Aye, you're right, Pic 1 is an optical illusion, fooled me . Pete
  24. Looks like an HR bonnet to me too. Of course this could have been fitted at a later date. Also car has UK front plate and Jap rear plate . On the plus side, its a rare opportunity to get a facelift car in the lower tax bracket. Difficult to assess what it's really worth, being an auto and without the full GT pack...maybe a grand less than a U.K facelift GT with similar mileage Pete
  25. Welcome Wife had a 180 but that's not a fair comparison, but I think there's a fair few came from The 225's. Pete
