My Renault Clio got an advisory for this at its last M.O.T. I'll try the cleaning method and report back. Pete
-
Yes, that's a facelift . Pete
-
No, it doesn't matter when it was built or if its a facelift or not, it's all down to registration date. The facelift went on sale on April 1st 2006 just a few days after the cut off date for the lower tax rate. Pete

You know, that's one of the things that really annoys me here when people say you're not driving the car properly if you're getting a decent MPG. To me, driving the car properly is nothing to do with how quickly you can get from A to B or how fast you can throw it into corners, it's all about getting from A to B safely, showing some respect for other road users and not colliding with the scenery as several here have already done. Quite frankly people who brag about getting 15mpg must drive like complete idiots IMHO. Pete

This and variations of it has been around since at least 2009. It seems to have started in The U.S but there are reports of it from other London boroughs right through to Thailand. From what I can gather it installs some fake anti-virus software which keeps popping up messages and is extremely difficult to get rid of. I got hit with a variant of this 2 or so years ago when a legit site I visited was infected with it. In the end I had to identify what files were being loaded and then remove the hard disk, pop it into a USB caddy and delete the files manually on a different computer. The virus actually got past Avast so it must be pretty complex. Pete

Isle of Man has no national speed limit outside of built up areas and has some amazing roads and scenery. As long as you you don't use your mobile while driving . http://www.gov.im/transport/highways/roadsafety/campaigns/Mobiles.xml Pete

Welcome to the forum . Zeds can be a bit of a pig in the snow as can many RWD vehicles. Although I've not driven the Zed in the snow that much it's nowhere near as bad as The Capri I had. A couple of sandbags in the boot will help though . Pete
-
Does anyone else look at evo and scoobys and immediately think drug dealer for newer models and council estate warrior for older ones? ...... Pete
-
Good point, the Zed would easily compare to supercars of the late 60's, early 70's when the best affordable sports car you aspire to was a 96bhp GT6 or MGB GT (or if you were really well off a Triumph TR6). Even in the early 80's the working man's supercar of the time the Capri 2.8i only packed 160bhp and that felt pretty quick to me. Pete

I always set mine to 33/34 when cold as I find on hot days it'll go up to 39 and even on cold days will hit 37. I bought a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System from Maplins for £100 which gives me instant readouts at all times. I also invested a fiver in a plug in pump which I use when the pressure drops to 32 cold...so far in almost 2 years I think I've used it 3 or 4 times. Pete

Sticking to the limits is the only way really, around here there are just a handful of static cameras but it's the mobile ones that catch the majority and they can be anywhere these days. Pete

Welcome Guess you're a Genesis fan then Pete

PMSL Certainly made my night Why did it take over 5 hours to come to a decision?, from what I've heard there was only 0.85 of a litre of fuel onboard when the FIA checked the level. Anyway, should spice up the race and the championship a bit. Pete

After being with my ex for 21 years she suddenly ran off with another guy early in 1997. I was at the time 47 and completely devastated and sunk into a serious depression for a few months. I didn't really think any woman would be interested in me but one of my mates suggested that I put an advert in the lonely hearts column in one of the local papers. Eventually I did this and was amazed that I had dozens of replies. Eventually after meeting around 30 women I finally met Caroline in 1998. She had been divorced for 10 years, like me had been badly hurt but was looking for a serious relationship . We hit it off straight away and have been together for 14 years now. I guess I had the last laugh on my ex though, the guy she ran away with was a conman who apart from being secretly married (told her he was going home every weekend to see his kids), ripped her off for several thousand pounds. To be fair though she is now in a relationship with a decent guy and we have to a large extent made up. Pete

What you have to remember is that the 350Z has a big tank compared to most cars, therefore you get a lot of pressure drop within the tank , provided there's a good seal. Pete

Worst death rate in Europe, even The Russians themselves admit that drivers don't have the skills required to drive safely. Those sort of roads don't have enough room to overtake safely as well, in the U.K that would be a 2 lane road, just not wide enough to overtake safely. They were probably designed to fit wide bodied armoured vehicles and tank transporters. http://www.examiner.com/article/russia-s-road-deaths-are-highest-europe Pete

The problem with cars with big engines is that they need a lot of power to turn the engine over. Once a battery reaches a couple of years old and for one reason or another becomes flat then it'll never be able retain the power required and will go flat if not used every few days. By all means get your battery checked (any decent garage should have a battery tester) and check for a bad earth but with winter rapidly approaching you should really change it ASAP. My battery failed in a similar fashion to yours, went away for a month and although the battery wasn't flat there wasn't enough power to turn the engine over...recharging it only got a few more days out of it. Short for fun quiz I found on the Discovery Channel. I scored 7/20 BTW. http://dsc.discovery.com/tv-shows/curiosity/topics/what-does-car-say-about-you-quiz.htm#mkcpgn=nrtl1#mkcpgn=nrtl1 Pete

New member and hopefully 350z owner to be very soon.
JetSet replied to Mr Bump's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
Welcome White was only available in The U.K for a short period late 2007 to mid 2008 and as already stated are very rare, I've only ever seen one in fact. White was available in Japan right from the start though and a few of these have been imported into The U.K, good luck with the search. Pete -
Just a guess, but something looks to have fallen on it. Air bags haven't deployed so maybe it was stationary at the time. Pete
-
Let us know if you have any success. This comes up fairly often and it'd be good to have a solution. Pete

Welcome along Pete

Wow, that's some price hike but 350Z's are pretty cheap in The U.K compared with most countries. You'll be lucky to find one in Germany or Australia (2 countries I picked at random) for less than 10k, in Australia the typical price for a 2008 model looks to be around the 18k mark. They can be found a tad cheaper in The States though and in Japan too I would think. Pete

Not sure if the Nissan SatNav can be adapted in this way. However, if you post a question on this site http://www.satnavi.com/nissan.php (no need to register or anything) explaining you are looking for a CD I'm sure they will be able to advise you one way or the other. I believe that Nissan switched over from CD to DVD sometime during 2005, so I guess yours is an early 2005 car. Pete

I have had a multitude of calls from the "Microsoft Windows Help Desk" , Indian call centre and yes, it's a scam but not in the way you might think. From what I've read this is an attempt to sell you some worthless anti virus software, they do this by highlighting any red x's and warning messages in the event viewer system log, anyone who knows anything about PC's will know that no matter how clean your system is these red x's will show up, they are nothing more than simple system errors. However, this could be a new scam as I just tell them to (insert profanity here) when they phone these days. Pete
