  1. +1, flush look is best. Pete
  2. Not really, you pay 3k less for a Cat D and you get 3k less when you sell it. Net loss is the same as U.K Zed. Might take you longer to sell it though. Pete Problem is that the cat c/d's I've seen are going for 6 - 7k. 3k was just a number I plucked out of the air, could be 2k, 4k anything really. Pete
  3. A mate of mine used to bring his into work and use a high speed drill to reverse the mileage . Still, I would say that most cars were clocked in the day, often by disconnecting the speedo. Pete

  5. The council depot is just half a mile away but there are whole villages cut off so they'll take priority. One of the problems is that there's a couple of rather steep sections close to the depot and I'm told that the ploughs can't get up these just yet. In effect this means that the lane adjoining ours is only passable with a 4wd. There was an Openreach small van stuck there this morning, completely beached in the middle of the road. Scottish power have promised to return when they get time to clear up the debris outside the house. BTW, we both slept in the front room last night as we were really concerned about one of the trees coming down. It was quite bent over, but held firm overnight. Pete
  6. Situation critical. Lost power at around 9 last night, I was outside clearing the satellite dish when there was a huge flash. A tree had come down right outside our house on a power cable. A couple of other trees have come down in the night and are resting on our roof. Several other trees have shed huge branches, one in our usual parking space, another would have come down on my bonnet had I not luckily moved the car 5 minutes previously. Several more trees are threatening to come down through sheer weight of snow....we have an unprecedented 22 inches. Nothing can get get down our lane, there are at least 10 trees down which will need to be removed before the snow can be cleared. The situation in the surrounding areas is grim too, thousands without power, roads blocked, etc. It has stopped just snowing but it remains around freezing point and the weather forecast while better means this snow will be on the ground for a while yet. Pete
  7. Cheers Fodder, That 5 miles will include a 350 foot difference in elevation, makes a huge difference. Nothing other than a snowplough or a high ground clearance 4x4 vehicle is going to get down here right now and the council are working flat 24/7 to keep the main roads clear, they are aware of my predicament but I'm most likely right at the bottom of their list. I always knew that one day I'd get cutoff when I bought this house, didn't think it'd take 34 years though . I'm quite close to the usually very busy A55 and its eerily quiet tonight, what little traffic there is is going about 10 mph from the sound of it. I think I may have to get a Taxi in the morning, I can walk or ski to the end of the lane and get picked up there I guess. I love the snow but this is overkill right now Pete
  8. Get one of those sheep in tbe oven and wait it out Pete It's all a bit of a mystery, I know all of the local farmers and none of them have any sheep, its all dairy farming. Pete
  9. Made an attempt to move one of The Zeds, managed about 10 feet then gave up. Don't know what I can do, need supplies but its a long walk down to ASDA. Snowing like crazy again here and with little prospect of a thaw in the next few days it's not looking good. Pete
  10. Even I don't believe this.. WTF  Looks like I'm going need a saw to get now. I've also got a 40 foot conifer down in the back garden. and more pics Pete
  11. Weather forecasters are talking about a foot to 18 inches of snow around here. This area doesn't normally get much snow, but when we get a cold airmass sitting over us and the clouds roll in from the South East we can get a right hammering. Wonder how ChrisS is getting on, he lives at a higher altitude and I'm hearing reports that the road that runs past his house (The A5) is closed and this is one of the major roads in North Wales . Pete
  12. I dread to think what it's like up at The EVO . Pete
  13. Adding to my list two useful things that the Z4 had, auto wipers and auto lights. Pete
  14. Hmm, I wonder how they'll do that and at what speed??...radar gun or a roller that can be calibrated for every car and every wheel and tyre size? They used to do a speedo check (they just checked it was working) back in the day before they had rollers, it was part of the road test back then. Pete They could use a gps or sat nav Pete, or something more official. Yes, never thought of that . Pete
  15. Thanks for your replies. I should have given more details really....We're taking both The Zeds so we need to fit 2 wheels in each one. I'm just a little concerned that the roadsters boot even with the spare removed won't fit a 20 inch wheel in. I'm pretty sure it'll take an 18 inch full size tyre and wheel (where else would you put it if you had a puncture ) Pete
  16. Should be O.K on a roller as both wheels will be spinning at the same speed. Pete
  17. Yes, things change. You couldn't get a black car in The 60's. Silver was the considered to be the safest colour just a few years ago, just look at numbers of early TT's (and Zed's) in Silver. Pete

  19. Front fog lights, so I could annoy other drivers . I miss having a heated windscreen most of all. Pete
  20. O.K, So I've agreed to buy some 20 inch wheels from a forum member and I need to get them home. If I remove the spare wheel can I get 2 of them in the boot of a coupe or if not can I squeeze one into a roadster boot minus the spare? Thanks, Pete
  21. Yes, while some cars will have considerable differences in the readings depending on the slope the Zed definitely doesn't. Did you glance at the oil pressure gauge at all when you were driving it before you topped the oil up? Pete
  22. I'd really like a Cayman S but in reality I'd probably get something with a bit more room. Since I donated the Clio to my daughter I'm finding that having 2 sports cars is a bit restrictive at times. Pete
  23. Aye, while I can see some Zed influence it looks to have more TT about it. Pete
  24. Put me on the list please Black with black Z. Cheers, Pete
