Never had any cos I'm a good boy. Never been a moderator but I guess you get them for Trolling, Spamming, Personal attacks, posting links to dodgy sites, bad driving at a meet, etc. Pete

Nobody took a blind bit of notice of Clarkson. The entire initial allocation of Zed's to The U.K sold out in under an hour. Pete

A bit like points on your licence I guess . Pete

What makes a good racing driver?

F1 drivers are pretty unique amongst top sportsmen. I can't think of another sport where you can't actually do any specific training. Since the blanket ban on testing during the season and only 4 test sessions in February you would think the drivers would be very rusty at the start of the season. Before the 1980's it was very common for F1 drivers to compete in other types of motor racing to keep their hand in but these days their contracts forbid that. Pete -
Genuine ones are hard to find, but plenty of replicas about. I got mine from ZManalex and it's a really good fit, quality is good too. The main problem with fitting is removing the old spoiler. Not only is it difficult to physically remove but you have to be careful not to damage the area around the old spoiler. Ball park cost of spoiler and spraying/fitting £500 or so. Pete

There's a guy just up the road who has at least 5 of these, guess he loves them too. He also has an MX5 and hidden behind these are several other cars. What's strange is that when I got my first car some 40+ years ago there used to be a load of Triumph Heralds parked outside the same house . Pete

Cool, going to be hard to match up to that...but I'll try . Pete

I loved my Black Capri 2.8i and to this day I don't really understand why I traded it in after just 2 and a half years with just 17k on the clock for an XR3i. None of the other cars I've owned had anything like the charisma of The Capri. Pete

Aye, they were shocking. My late father in law had a Yugo which like the FSO was reputedly a 60's Fiat design. Worst car I've ever driven, I don't think they'd have ever got through an MOT. Pete

Don't know about the slowest, I had mine almost 4 years before I did my first mod...took me 6 years to fit a stubby . Pete

Very nice, not seen those wheels on a Zed before. Front lip is a Greddy Pete

Yes, Bordais came from Indy racing and of course they never raced in the wet. The other 2 were Jacques Villeneuve and little known Italian Andrea De Adamich. Rolf Stommelen who did a bit of F1 in the 70's but was better known as a sports car driver was another one. EDIT, some further research has shown up another 4 (little known) F1 drivers who wore specs and apparently Villeneuve only wore contacts while racing. Ralf Schumacher, Timo Glock, Fisichella and Kubica are also rumoured to wear contacts. The main problems with contacts is that they dry out and the lateral G-Forces can move them out of position!! I remember reading about Jackie Stewart some years ago and not only did he have perfect vision but a much wider peripheral range than an average human. Pete -
You think fish is bad? I knocked over a pint of milk onto the carpet in a Ford Escort, cleaned it up best I could but within a couple of days not only did the car stink but a load of maggots and bluebottles emerged from under the seat, absolutely disgusting . Pete

Being smaller than average is also a big help, Most of the all time greats have been small...Fangio, Senna, Prost, Moss, Stewart, Surtees, Alonso, Villenueve all very small guys. Only one driver over 6 foot tall has ever won the championship (Hunt) and only 2 others over 5-11" (Damon Hill and Button) . You also need very good eye sight, as far as I can remember only 3 F1 drivers have worn glasses. Pete -
This kit just ties down the awning, you still need a 350Z awning if such a thing exists. Pete

Hmm, if I'm seeing this properly they have more than 206,000 items for sale on their EBay shop Pete

Cayenne, pointless status symbol. Alfasud, the ultimate rot box, took Alfa Romeo several years to recover from this disaster. Subaru XT, Believe it or not they actually sold a handful of these in The U.K Pete

+1, also, the cars have too much power, the racing was great in the 70's when the cars had somewhere around 470-500 bhp and did the entire race on a set of tyres. The only thing that's better today is reliability and safety. Also, today's tracks are so sanitised and bland, even the great tracks like Spa and Monza have been neutered. The sport has also become hugely expensive, back in the 70's you could buy a brand new DFV from Cosworth for 10 grand or pick one up second hand for 7.5k...you could in fact buy a customer car from a company such as March or Surtees and race it in F1. Looks like a gigantic tattoo Pete

No, not experienced that, but the ride is definitely not as good, it's more choppy, especially on the lanes around here. More noticeable on the coupe than the roadster for some reason. Pete

Works on my pre facelift, but mine is a 2006, one of the last ones made. Pete

Oil company propaganda. The fact is that The U.K is divided up into areas with each area having a major oil refinery in it. For example if like me you live in North Wales then your fuel comes from Stanlow, Ellesmere Port. So, no matter where I fill up, whether it's our local ASDA, Texaco, Shell, BP, etc garage I'll be getting fuel made in Stanlow at The former Shell refinery. If you live on the South Coast your fuel will come from The Esso refinery in Fawley and so on. Just think about it, would it make any sense to supply a BP garage in Cornwall from the Grangemouth refinery in Scotland? Oil companies have had an agreement in place for decades to supply each other. If anyone's in doubt, just go and stand on the A5117 outside of the loading terminals at Stanlow and watch the different companies roll up to get their fuel . (It's not just petrol either.)There are a number of pipelines around the country and these go to shared terminals, remember that huge explosion and fire a few years ago that was at a BP terminal supplied by a Shell pipeline. Now then, I can neither confirm or deny that individual oil companies have the ability to add their own "boosters" at the gantries, I've no idea TBH , back in the days when I worked at Stanlow they didn't have that ability.
