Yes and no. Certainly the HR engine can handle 95 RON without having to keep the revs under 4k and the odd £20 worth of 95 won't detonate the engine but it should be run on 98 RON to get the best out of the engine and for peace of mind. With 95 RON you get less power and use more fuel so that means that its false economy not to get 98 RON. Mind you, I needed some fuel the other day at an Esso station and 98 RON was £1.38 Pete

Nissan Fairlady Z Nismo S-Tune GT for sale
JetSet replied to -G-'s topic in Spotted on Ebay or Other
That body kit was an option, one of many on the S-Tune. There are plenty of pics on the net of S-Tunes with what looks like a standard Nismo kit fitted. According to a magazine review in The USA if you wanted all of the S-Tune extras. ie body kit, wheels, oil cooler, etc it would set you back an extra $10k. Pete -
Nissan Fairlady Z Nismo S-Tune GT for sale

No S-Tune decals? Pete -
Very nice , but 30k . Fitting a V8 doesn't add any value to a classic car, much in the way that fitting a V8 Rover engine to a Triumph Stag doesn't increase the value. Classic cars of that age need to be as near to original as possible to have a high value and not highly modded like this. I mean it's a stunning car (apart from the ride height) and I'm sure it's had thousands spent on it but the asking price is way to high IMHO. Pete

How old is the battery? I've heard of batteries on Zeds lasting 8-10 years, but I've already replaced mine twice as like you I only drive a couple of times a week. Pete

Apparently not in a museum but now registered with a different registration number . However, it may as well be in a museum as a check of past MOT's shows it's only on 15k. Pete

There was an S-Tune brought over by Nissan themselves, Reg No R1 GTR and I read somewhere that one individual imported a second hand one from Japan, what happened to these cars is unknown. As far as Genuine Nismo's go, you are right, one was specially imported by a dealer and I think this one was recently up for sale. It's possible that a couple more Nismo's were imported second hand too. As far as Nismo kits go, you'll struggle to find any of the genuine parts that make up The Nismo kit....plenty of replica's to choose from although the quality of these varies widely to say the least Pete

Another Irish import, the GT4 wheels give it away . When the Irish economy crashed all of the unsold 350Z's were bought by by Nissan dealers in The U.K a mix of both 296's and 309's, this one is clearly a 296 as Azure Blue was discontinued when the 309's were introduced. Also you can't fit the older spec bonnets to the 309, the bulge was added as the engine sits higher. Pete

Missed it, TBH, I've been unwell for the last few days and getting up early didn't appeal to me. I've only missed a handful of races since the BBC started showing races live in 1979 and every race live from around 1990, last one I missed was the 2010 Canadian GP. My enthusiasm has waned a bit in the last few years and one team dominating doesn't really do much for me. Pete

The main problem would be the cost of spare parts....unless there's an equivalent of Alex on The Merc forums Pete

The Nismo kit was an option at £3,200 when purchased on a new 350Z coupe. It consists of a Rear Spoiler (replacing the original spoiler), a set of rear spats, sideskirts and a Nismo front bumper for the U.K market, ie has the headlight washers. As far as I know, the kit was available right through all the models (276, 296 and HR). I don't know if a cutback version was available for The Roadster. Genuine Nismo 350Z's or The Nismo S-Tune were never sold in The U.K although a small number were imported from Japan. Pete

One of our friends is also in Orlando. It'll rain like crazy but Orlando is far enough inland to escape the worst of the winds. Expect the theme parks to be closed for a day or two though. Pete Bet none of the rides are operating. Watching it's progress on Fox News. Not looking good, tidal surge up to 12ft and 11ft waves. One of my friends lives in Melbourne (Florida) right next to the beach. I think he's probably too busy to answer my EMails right now. Pete

The Weather Channel is now reporting that it could be upgraded to Cat 5 shortly. Pete

Thick as thieves ...... Or just Thick Thieves

25 years or so ago someone got into my garden shed and stole my lawnmower. Not only did it not work they left behind the bag that collected the grass. I guess it saved me a trip to the council rubbish dump . Pete -
Yeah, happened to my Dad at Manchester Airport, I think they clocked up 100 or so miles in his Fiesta and left him with no fuel. Pete
-
It's an ongoing saga. The council came down about 6 years ago and sprayed some stuff on it. That cleared it for a while but the problem was that it was also in the field right next to our lane and they couldn't treat that. They issued an enforcement notice to the owners of the field but apart from cutting it down they ignored it and then sold up and went to live in Spain. Of course, it soon spread back to the grass verge outside our house. The thing is, the council won't cut it down when they cut the grass verges as this will spread it around. It's been there ever since I've lived here, I'm guessing that it's something to do with the disused railway that used to run right past our house and it hasn't really spread, it's just got a lot thicker. From the looks of it, it only grows where there's plenty of light as it's not spread past the row of trees in our lane. Removal or total remover anyway is extremely difficult and costly, it cost 70 million to remove it from where they built the Olympic Stadium Pete
-
Yes, needs a good clean. Due to circumstances beyond my control I have to leave it parked underneath some trees and I can't access my driveway until the Japanese Knot Weed growing on the verge opposite my house dies back. Of course, the council know about the weed but won't do anything about it despite the fact they are breaking the law (its their verge)...also the field next to it is covered in the stuff too and that's owned by The Welsh Assembly In case you're wondering, I daren't drive past it or even touch it because I'm scared it might spread onto my land. That's make sense Pete. Wonder if they made more L/H or R/H ones. ?. Japan been R/H as well as the UK. ?. Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, Ireland too are all L/H and quite large numbers of Zed's were sold in Australia. My knowledge of car production is limited to the 1970's. Back then they ran the production line in batches, they would make say 1,000 cars for the Canadian market then on the production workers day off the engineers would quickly retool for the next batch which could be going for example to Sweden and built to Swedish market specs and so on, Pete Think you ll find Ireland is R/H drive. I was there recently and unless I was on the wrong side of the road I drove same as the UK..! All the other countries he cited drive the same as the UK as well. I think he meant the left side of the road, not left hand drive. For everyone's reference... http://www.worldstan...ving-countries/ Yes, indeed, my bad Pete

A couple of things...The U.K is the only country in Europe and probably The World where Nissan outsells Toyota. Nissan only had the one production line for The 350Z and with most of the sales either in Japan or The USA and a long waiting list I suppose they just concentrated on those, two plus a few other English speaking countries. Also, the major European countries are lucky enough to have their own car industry and I guess there's a degree of patriotism in there. When we had our own car industry the 240Z/260Z sales here were nowhere near that of U.K sports cars despite it being far better than the rubbish we churned out. Pete

2010 Pete? No, it was March 2013. We usually escape the worst of the winter weather as we're in the shadow of Snowdonia, however we're in prime positioning for a real hammering if the wind comes in from the South East. Pete

Yes, you're right, a quick check reveals that vehicles registered after September 2001 must have the suppliers name on the plate to pass the MOT. It would seem that you can't get number plates made up these days without the makers/dealers name ...........well not legally anyway Pete
