  1. Hi All Decided on a few cosmetic changes while the weathers been good, a couple of body issues needed resolving. In the end I went for a new front lip and a better rear end for those to look at whilst following me. The lip:- The beautiful bottom:- As an extra I had enough of that tatty plenum that grows into old age by going grey and mottly, just like me, so I went for a powder coat in black. Cheers All Jeff
  2. Alex As always the true gentleman,
  3. +1 Spot on if you excuse the pun, paint is porous and needs to breathe sealing it immediately can cause small blebs caused as you have said by gassing. Some people wax straight away and get away with it, some are not so lucky I wouldnt take the chance and have to pay for another paint job. You can of course put some compounds on as long as they dont contain sealants or pure waxes that seal the surface. Six weeks in this case should be about right. It's getting cold now...would the wait have to be increased further? I'm guessing in the winter it would take longer for paint to cure than in the summer? Hi there I think your from the lincoln region give me a pm if you wish but normally if you have a paint job done by a local dealer that 6+ week is still the same. Cheers jeff
  4. A bit late on the reply but after doing both for the last 40 years, I found skiing is more active and burning up calories because you use both legs seperately, compared to boarding. Trust me a skier will beat a boarder down to the bottom of a run on any slope. However as has been stated the apres evening is still the same. Enjoy either way, its still the same.

  6. Found a photo of the exhaust system, on the link below. The front of the car is on the right, the bits you are on about is the rear silencer (black) and the mid pipe that leads to the stock Y pipe. http://www.350z-tech.com/wiki/index.php ... ge_001.jpg Jeff
  7. I live in lincoln, appx where do you live? I,ve renewed my complete exhaust in the last year and know a good exhaust company off outer circle drive on proctor drive. These lads know their stuff, I would agree with the scorpion exhaust system, mid section pipe and silencer nice and shiny in stainless steel. Cost around £40-£50 to fit, cheaper in the long run it should last a lifetime where as a patch job will just need sorting out later. Give us a pm if you want to know more Jeff
  8. Plus 1, The initial remap includes the licence fee that comes with it, at RS I believe it was around £140 out of the total cost of £414. After the initial fee you only pay per hour for any further remaps, around £100 per hour, most jobs can be done for this price.
  9. Search and you will find, I know because it was an issue that I had last year.
  10. Yep, never rinse first, the idea of the snow foam is to sit on the car and soak into any crap on it,then you rinse.
  11. Dannyboy earlier actually did get it right there are waxes that contain fillers that temporarily cover up light scratches. However if you can feel it with the scratch test then normally it means a garage job. You can of course use a DA with an appropiate compound and that should lessen the not so deep parts of the scratch. And now lets pray that the little sh**e get his just deserts big time.

    Remap

After the remap you can take your car to any of these companies and the up-rev licence means you can go to any of them for further remaps. Having this licence for the car means you only pay the hourly rate for any further work thereafter. Best single mod pound for pound you can spend on the Z.
  13. I was there last year with another mob, this is the best free day out you can get. However I'm partial, most of my car products I use are Meguiars, if you want to learn how to use a DA this is for you. You can count me in on this one
  14. Got this set up on my car, RS fitted the berks and stillen Y pipe but I had a remap at the same time. No problems or issues but as already stated the berks will run the car leaner and a remap is really needed. The good news is that it pushed my ponies from 292 to 301bhp and the sound is, shall we say invigorating.
  15. Just to put another idea up, have you thought of buying yourself from stateside? I've bought from Stillen and they are good quality, the company was set up by Steve Millen a professional racing driver who worked for Nissan. Probably able to get this over here for £200 but its a matter of style and only you can say. You do of course need a professional that can first fit and blend these items to your bodywork or they will always look like a dogs dinner. Best of luck in your search. By the way we have a dealer on here "MJP" who imports from there. http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?id=STILIPSPL01

    hankook or falkens

Quote: Price doesn't really matter but I would hate to take off virtually new Avons if the car behaves well on them. This is a marmite subject, you will get many variations on this, if you have only had the car a few weeks its too early to say. Stick with them for a month or two then you'll know. As per winter driving then your in for a treat the z is notorious for its very active rear wheel drive and your rallying experience will come in handy.
  17. I would agree with this except for one thing, brake linings burn at about 200.c does Humbrol model paint cover this range?
  18. Thought I would revive this old thread about caliper paint with this newish paint that STP make. Manufactured specifically for calipers and in a variety of colours, looks quite promising for a refurb. Quote from the site. "A one part brake caliper paint system which requires no mixing with hardners or priming and is therefore easy to use with no mess. It is easy to apply, quick drying and has an outstanding high quality, long lasting, lustre finish which will enhance your vehicle's brake calipers, wheel hubs or engine bay. Lead free paint. Kit includes paint (250ml), brake cleaner aerosol (500ml) and paint brush. Suitable for painting brake calipers, brake drums, wheel hubs or engine bay. 19. Two or three of us on here have used "Deepshine" at Lincoln, a first class professional detailer and he will travel. http://www.deep-shine.co.uk/about.html
  20. A few of us have bought our scorpions through this link, be aware they are an approved registered seller for the manufacturers of scorpion exhausts, so not a back street dealer. Personally I went to their shop to get mine (Jct 26 at Nottingham) because one or two I read about got a few dents throught the post. I have had mine a year and I can fully recommend them, you will struggle to find much cheaper deals because most outlets adhere to the companies RRP, but still worth the money. You can of course keep it in house through Tarmac who is still selling these as above http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-350Z-E ... 35ac13de33
  21. And this is a very, very select club to be in.
