  1. Well as some may know, i do alloy fitting in the evening for a company that specialise in Genuine Mercedes, BMW, MINI, Smart, Brabus etc I do this in the evenings as my second job, but yesterday evening has to be to most worrying tyre fitting job ever! The wheels were 4 Genuine Brabus Monoblock 6's in the special edition 3 piece version, made for the Maclaren SLR. The customer was one of the car showrooms on Park Lane (yep, where all the supercars live) But the car itself has just been bought, and they needed these wheels for this weekend as its being shown off at the Goodward festival of speed. The 4 wheels themselves came in at £19136 plus £1000 for the tyres.... ouch, and theres me thinking HRE or DPE are expensive.. Anyway few pictures to show off the wheels and fitting. Never concentrated so hard in my life!! Anyway if anyone is going goodward this weekend, look out for a SLR on these wheels, if you see it grab a picture for me and ask the owner if he just got it, if so mention the fitter was bricking it while fitting them Link to were you can buy them from just incase you wanted a set http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/mercedes_alloy_wheels/mclaren_slr_roadster_r199_alloys/20_brabus_monoblock_vi_3pc_wheel_1640
  2. I see alot of people say i detailed my car today etc. But when i see they washed it, put some Autoglym SRP on it and call it a detail i get a bit annoyed. What do you lot class as a detail? Most things i see in this section are what i would call a good valet. Dont get me wrong, there have been some really good results from it from what i have seen on here in the short time i have been about. People can call it what they want, i just wondered where you guys thing valeting ends and detailing begins?
  3. why cover the name up. what if i want work done, it would be nice to know who to avoid. Alot seem to know anyway. I feel left out!
  4. i think its caused by tiny vibrations of the back of the pad against the piston, which is why greasing the backs of the pads will stop the squel
  5. if it does it on every revolution of the wheel without the brake being pressed, then it hows signs of your disk being slightly warped. As you said once the brake pedal is pressed it stops. Thats becasue the pad pushes against the disk causing a constant connection to the disk, when its depressed, the disk warp slightly catches a pad on each turn. Just like when you have a buckle bike wheel and it catches the V brake on every turn. Try copper slip, first though. while doing it, spin the disk and look for any warping.
  6. fair enough, can be done after 30 mins but 24 hours is ideal. shall remember that
  7. 2 layers in 7 hours? you should leave the supernatural 24 hours between coats to allow it to cure properly
  8. get to the council and try claim for some compo, then when you give up trying to draw blood from a stone, grab the tar remover, let it soak in 1 section at a time, wipe as much off as possible, dont sit scrubbing stuck on parts. Once done the car, move to the clay bar. lube up, clay it, include the windows! and i bet you it will feel smooth as glass! then its a case of how much you want the scratches alreay in the paintwork removed. either get someone there to machine it, or just wax it yourself and be done with it
  9. eh? extra's? i guess GT pack?
  10. you should work on commision lol
  11. if it was that loud it must have had a crap exhaust on it, something like the Japspeed K1, which is just a big pipe, makes loads of noise but sacrifices the note Just keep looking on ebay, autotrader etc as you said, you know what to look for, clicking axle, gears and thats about it, FSH is a gooden too. Dont be put off by slightly different shade bumpers/ plastic parts, there all like that for some reason, paint must react differently on plastic too metal.
  12. Well you cant beat a V8 but i think the V6 in the Zeds are alright, i have the pro spec III system and up in the higher revs it sounds awesome
  13. firstly. welcome. second exhaust notes. Scooby exhaust, as much as i love it too, i have to say its only like that due to the unequal length headers. if you got a performance equal length set then the noise would go. As for the 350z exhaust note, how on earth can you not like the noise of a V6? 'V' engines have the best sounding exhaust notes. you dont see astons, lambos and ferraris etc using a 4 pot turbo or even straight 6's. Pretty much agree with the above regarding what to look for. So get out there and get buying.
  14. i think i know where you live, do you park your 350z in a car park thats like an underground car park but at ground level. behind the ovaltine building. silver, black wheels, silver grille in the front bumper?
  15. please dont make me read things like that, i like to think its not as bad as i think lol
  16. is it really that good? never been a treky. must have been pretty loud to kill a system that mega! people on this site have to much bloody money
  17. just read the inside of the filler cap. 97 ron fuel. enough said. loss of performance. not as clean burning etc etc etc
  18. I have been taught to go 2psi more per inch bigger than the standard wheel. Granted thats to do with mainly cars like range rovers, but if the alloys are bigger than standard there should be a tad more pressure.
  19. i work where the big wind turbine is I work at RES
  20. silver wheels. standard as can be by the looks of it. You guys should let me know when your popping down to Japex as i work 1 minute away
  21. it was parked out the front, were they put them once finished. I should know, mine was there a week ago. looked good in the sun though
  22. japenese hey.... PSI not good enough for them over there lol. they have to have Bar I think from memory mine runs about the same as yours (bit under 60psi (or 4 bar..) on idle. more like 50psi. I did try the 60psi @ 60mph In 6th and seems about right.
  23. tez162003
