  1. Ooops, just realised this show was on, looks like I will be missing out on this one now. if anyone falls out and has a space, I am available
  2. Menzerna doesnt have any fillers. Even if they did I do not use them for filling, polish for me is to re-finish the paintwork, not covering up the defects. Plus they will only re surface again shortly afterwards if filled. I use LP or LPL simply to get the paintwork prep'd for wax. Its a pre wax cleanser after all, helps me to be fairly sure there are no oils on the paintwork in any spots from the polish. But yes your right, an IPA wipe down is far better suited but a lot of people don't have Isopropanol to hand. LP can help im sure, (well that was my random theory anyway, cant do no harm lol) I was more getting at it is not needed for before PWC, Wash, clay, tape and ready to go.
  3. best polish range IMO is the Menzerna stuff, Menz IP is a god send.
  4. i read your write up a few days ago, i'm a fairly competant detailer, i'm bringing in a machine as the next step as i'm bored of getting a sore arm as for yuor machine you don't state what size backing plate you used with the pads? as for mine i got it for 75.00 I personally wouldn't say your a competent detailer if you've never done proper paint correction via a machine, pc, refinishing, refining or what ever you want to call it. It really bugs me when someone says, "detailed the car today" Then i open their thread and all I see is, a wash, dry, glaze job. Occasionally clay may even pop up in them too. The term detailing is used far too loosely nowadays. I do detailing from time to time, infact I did a Z4m this weekend. 10 hours on the rotary, usually on forums I am with I would post a little write up to help guys out, give tips and just show off the hard work off that i'm proud of, but I am not allowed on to on here as its classed as trying to get work and I need to be a trader. Anyway, pads, megs 7" are fine on a 6" plate, as a noob make sure your backing plate is a soft foam one, helps you get a good indication of pressures being applied. Megs pads are good for beginners too for the same reason. very soft pads. My personal favourites are the 3m pads Lime prime comes after the polishing stage, this is to prep the paint for wax. No need for preping before polish. This debate about red mist/ grand finale on fresh -24hr wax has gone on for ages. I tend to do it, and the wax has still lasted months on end. Just get a good quality hard wax and your on to a winner in my book.
  5. welcome, I'm in Bedfordshire myself. where about you live?
  6. you maintain them, I draw them for being built. I work for a renewable energy company that do a lot of wind farms around the world, as well as solar, bio mass, tidal etc. I mainly do drawing work for the on shore ones though.
  7. the measurement is the bead seating, not the tyre you see when mounted to the rim. Same with alloys, measure an alloy edge to edge and i bet you it will be around an inch bigger than stated, thats because all measurement are the bead seating (the tyre well). So a 19" wheel in reality works out as a 20" when you look at it with a tyre on.
  8. Im at work so cant really go home and look at the car right now. But the reverse lights on the 350z, one is all clear and one is half clear half red. Why is it red? Is it just the bulb making it seem red? If so how do you get around this? LED bulbs? Thanks
  9. Looks good, just fitted some to mine too. But im now thinking new (very wide) wheels. lol
  10. Thanks for that, how on earth did i miss that when searching Looks like a lot of fun to fix that.
  11. flying horse at the Clophill roundabout on the A6 is good.
  12. I have done some searching but only find people talking about the mystical skipping of the Bose unit. My problem is it seems to cut out the left side of the cars audio from time to time, then come back on and off etc. Id rather it just worked or didnt work, its bloody annoying. I thought it was a lose speaker wire at first behind the door, but i think its both the door and lhs speaker behind the seat. So i guess it would be the head unit. Has anyone had this problem before? If so any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks
  13. Couldnt be bothered to read it all lol Cant stand those idiots.
  14. dont bother wasting your time with this waster. Slagging 350z's and saying evo's rule, buy a bloody evo. .... probably just a 12 year old kid sat there wearing his Ben 10 pyjamas wishing he'd hit puberty and had a driving license sat in his Thomas the Tank Engine money pouch, which his mummy stole him for being a good boy while she was at the doll office collecting her benefits for her and her 8 kids so that she can go buy some crack and white lightning.
  15. Right, this is just begging for me to modify it. I need to sell it before I start spending money I don't really have to spare. If anyone wants it as it is. £9000 takes it as it is with the Coilovers, Buddy Club Exhaust and 20mm Eibach Spacers all round or £8400 in standard trim.
  16. thats called a very rich dad who has these cars as toys. The dad probably doesnt even care.
  17. Black 350z in Premier Business Park, Luton @ 6:00pm I was outside my work unit fitting spacers onto mine Anyone's?
  18. Ive been detailing cars for few years now, done a few outside where I live, the wierd looks i get when taping up a car is hilarious Nowadays i dont meet many people, I do my wekly car clean using work's workshop. Good way of meeting people cleaning car is though
  19. its mostly caused by the 2 metals reacting with each other causing them to seize on. (the valve and valve cap metals) hence you should never put metal valve caps on Tyre pressure monitor valves (thats why they have silver plastic caps on from new) Best bet is get it to a tyre place, they will break the bead whilst it is blown up still. cut the old valve out and replace with a new one. I have had to do this many times for people.
  20. haha no he is not a Porsche driver. He drives 2010 Range Rover, Bentley GTC, Big Merc thingy and Small Merc thingy. D4XNY, 20 minutes to do a whole car? Your probably doing more damage than good if your not letting the polish break down. just like rubbing sand all over paintwork if your doing that. I too like everything to be at its best, hence im known as the guy with OCD at work. and why i have been detailing for 4 or so years
  21. it took bloody ages! probably about 30 minutes to do this lol. Cutting back plastic is hard work, At one point it got insanely hot as i was getting a tad fed up lol
  22. haha, my boss's house is still a building site, he would never have something as cheap as that glass table in his house. The man just put £10,000 deposit down on the new TV! The fancy wiring system with control units in each room blah blah blah throughout the house is something like £40,000. The list of costs is literally endless. That shocking glass table would be sat in the crappy place where I rent a room from
  23. He will probably get me detailing the cutlery at this rate. I must have looked proper mad when doing this.
  24. Just to clarify, is this 1 guess per person, closest one gets it, or we can keep guessing till someone gets it spot on?
