So it connects at the bottom of the pump but as chubby said file the bottom of the pump carrier to get a good seal or YOU WILL GET A LEAK! =)
The list is nearly endless if you want to do a build "right" just have to deside which parts you need to get a set power goal. I think UK owners tend to buy more parts than they actually need for their goals compared with the, yanks who just scrape the bare minimum together and end up with the same power (not as reliable probably), honestly not sure why I started this as I'm a bit drunk.
If your car is a 2003 it is outside the bellhousing for greaseing the (slave cylinder? Can't remember it's name) quite easy to do yourself from underneath. As for the other jobs it sounds like you are being defeatist or have already made your mind up.

bummer, feel your pain mate, but remember be calm as they are you neighbours and cars are easier to fix than constantly looking over your shoulder or letter box for dog turds.
Been a few post about it previously but don't think I've heard of a failure but can't say I know of anyone that didn't do some reinforcement of the top mounts.
Just quite a big change of where the weight of the car now sits and she is a heavy bugg'er.
