  1. I think its the auto headlight dip switch. No big deal, leave it or fix it.
  2. for 430 don't waste your money on forging. especially not on heads, springs are pointless on a rev-up as you can max out the blower rpm with just a smaller pulley or cog setup. If you are opening up the block due to low compression. I would upgrade the rods, replace the worn piston rings and valve stem seals and stick it back together= 430 all day with a bit of added safety.

    Car cover

Impressed with this http://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-accessories/car-covers-tarpaulins/halfords-advanced-all-seasons-car-cover-large Bought a cheap one before that blew off in a week, this one is a lot sturdier and fits my Z great, only issue is the very bottom of my side skirts are not covered but thats probably because they are longer than oem. For £50 its a bargin compared with the expensive ones.
  4. Check to see how good it is at up scaling, unless it has inbuilt 4K streaming services which you will use more often... http://www.johnlewis.com/lg-55uh661v-led-hdr-4k-ultra-hd-smart-tv-55-with-freeview-hd-freesat-hd-metallic-design/p2671359 should arrive tomorrow
  5. $348 https://www.z1motorsports.com/all/nissan/oem-vq35de-timing-kit-p-10393.html Just bought this along with some other goodies myself.
  6. Actually this is what I will order, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fits-Infiniti-G35-Nissan-Altima-Maxima-Murano-VQ35DE-Timing-Chain-Kit-Water-Pump-/360880614123?hash=item5406292aeb:g:pIUAAOxy4t1Sd~UK more sold and comes with water pump, there is also one that comes with a new oil pump that is just as cheap.
  7. tempted by this myself http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Timing-Chain-Kit-Fit-for-Nissan-MURANO-ALTIMA-FX35-VQ35DE-3-5L-V6-DOHC-24V-02-03-/142146692438?hash=item21189a6556:g:De0AAOSwo4pYInM4
  8. The cat might be too far away and is not getting up to working temp, give it a good thrash next time.
  9. I can remove about 0.5mm before I start running into issues with head gaskets that are too thick in my opinion. But the shrapnel marks dont look deep but you can't tell until you start grinding
  10. So the head is straight and has 126.4mm in material right in the middle of factory specs. But I want big bhp so might not take the chance with this head and buy a another one
  11. Nissan improved these gaskets in 2011 and post MY2012'on 370z's should have the uprated gaskets from the factory so probably oem.
  12. That's because its never on the road moved back to largs area also, so less likely to be buzzing about the motorways. Where abouts in glasgow are you from?
  13. I need to get a set of machinist gauges to calibrate the bore gauge tool. As I think I must have used the 0.5mm spacer with the 95mm tool.Nope just checked it was correct so the bores have reduced by 0.5mm from factory specs?? Lucky the rebore will be to 96.088mm with a hone of 0.02mm hopefully so they need to bore to 96.068. Yep just checked need to get a gauge to calibrate it properly, something about initial spring pressure on the gauge probably so need to take a reading from a known source.... pooo! Just wasted 45mins of my time.
  14. A bit of bowl work on the intakes and some cleaning/slight polishing of the combustion chambers. Also removing some casting marks from the other head. The burnt valve has melted around the valve guide, tried sanding it out but wouldnt budge so need to have a go with a small pick or something. blueprinting the block before the work is done so I can check tolerances. The results threw me so I decided to be more in depth. need to shave this for the HR gaskets. battery was dead so no checking head thickness today. other heads lifters/buckets/whatever.
  15. So this got a little bit more expensive After thinking and doing my research I believe the valve broke due to detonation and it burnt the valve.... no doubt the rest of the exhaust valves experienced very high temperatures as well so rather than reuse them I have just pi**ed away a small fortune again on @*!# I probably don't need and no one will see Bought the full ferrea valve setup off TORQEN as their prices are some of the cheapest around and the service is always great. Intake + exhaust valves, dual springs, spring seats, titanium retainers, keepers, valve stem seals and bronze valve guides. So no point in all the hassle of keeping the old stuff in order Always handy to have spare for the next N/A high rev build.... well I now have a spare set of BC valve springs+shims
  16. Well you need to break in your engine then have it retuned, thats when you will find out.
  17. Chime in if I have missed anything I need to order to get these heads ready. Torque plate looking at CCA racing one. Valve stem seals = supertech Valve guides = ferrea or supertech one oem exhaust valve (need to clean the rest to see if they have any marks) 3 or 5 angle job on the valve seats (probably to give a good seal) Slight skim of block deck and a big skim from the heads. Cometic 97 or 98mm bore and 0.051" (depends how much comes off the head) thick HR head gaskets. A good clean!
  18. Isn't the fuel pump behind the drivers seat? Been a while since I changed mine.
  19. Valve removal on my birthday new tools yey! a wee jolt was needed with a brush handle and hammer to free the keepers. need to give the valve seats a good clean to see if they can be saved or if they need a 3 or 5 angle job to get them usable. Those exhaust ports YUK! wouldn't budge with the magnet so a little rotate with a screw driver in the hole to free it up.
  20. Another photo dump Started removing the casting marks on the intakes, removing valves tomorrow. After cleaning the jaggy casting marks which needlessly trap oil/ have a chance of coming off (unlikely on a high mileage engine.) Photobucket is playing up, probably bored of my photos, The exhaust side will be done tomorrow. Excited about sitting on a stool slowly grinding metal on my birthday SAD!
  21. Yeah I will be, I will stick some photos up tomorrow night.
  22. My favourite read. http://www.motoiq.co...ust-3-Days.aspx Also if its having a rebore use a torque plate to mimic the heads being on. Does it show I am excited about building mine
  23. Another good read... so much out there on google http://www.revvedmag.com/engine-tech/engine/tech-10-tips-for-building-a-powerful-reliable-nissan-vq35de/
