Valve guides and worn valve stems could cause oil consumption but I would expect they checked the play in them and New seals should reduce it even so.

make sure the water pump has been changed with the timing belt, its made of plastic and fails if not changed when scheduled. On the Mk1 the haldex oil needs changed frequently but is separate from the diff oil. My wife has a mk1 225hp and my dad has a mk2 TTS, both nice interiors, senseless steering feel but quick and semi practical.

HR head gasket block mod done today, and more boring head polishing. The mini sand paper rolls were 12mm which is what you need to remove downwards from the original casting. mine worked out about 1inch below the deck surface so used that measurement when I switched out to the faster bur on the big drill.

What intercooler do you have and what fuel pump? From your list I would expect higher numbers than you are getting.

Something like 19 hours on these heads so far for porting and polishing, if i was to use a metal bur it would have been quicker but I am new to this so taking it slow and steady. This also turned up, I will eventually hire it out for people who need to rebore their engines and try to recoup some of its cost as it wasn't cheap Also the missus asked for a cup holder but the oem audi ones retail at £140 so i made her this for £4. lol Tried to tap a thread into my spare cylinder head's valve guides but it was not tight enough and the threads of the bolt wont catch, the next tap size up is a lot larger and will be difficult. Hopefully I will try again on a valve stem that is in better shape as that was the worst one and probably very worn. I am also in talks with a wheel shop about vossen work vws 1 or 2's for my wheels, as the hre wheels i wanted are out of my budget. Few other things taking up my time like the missus tt diff is making noises and i expect its in dier need of an oil change (life time oil my ass!) but the hex fill plug is seized solid and has started to round hammer and chisel tomorrow.

Platinum are easy to gap compared with iridium but most are preset anyway so not an issue, unless you like to tinker.

Save for a GTR, it will work out cheaper in the long run. Because you will want forged engine ... and zeditus is hard to get over.

Planning to make my own 6 or 8 AN feed line to the new rails, bought the CJM 6 AN fuel pump assembly adapter, if this doesn't give enough fuel with the 340lph pump I will have to bite the bullet and buy the big boy twin pump.

New cylinder head arrived the other day from ZMANALEX so started polishing that to match the other head, just doing the exhaust ports and combustion chambers, the inlets will just have the casting marks removed, to my surprise the head had less casting imperfections to remove which saved time. Sadly the upper sump Alex sent got damaged in post so he is sending me out a new one Also had this box of goodies arrive from Z1. Still have many hours left on the heads, really time consuming but finding it therapeutic.

Do it yourself with a dremel. Look for Jim wolf tech pics, they are the best if not I will be doing mine in the next few weeks.

What engine do you have to start with? DE? DE rev-up? I would honestly consider torqens deals as the costs add up quickly if you want to do it properly. Whats your budget? Timescale?
