Tartan Tarmac meet Glasgow, Sun 26th
evilscorp replied to LRF4N's topic in Local Meets Across The UK
as always...... working. I might have even had the 350z mot'd by then. -
Cheers guys, I will have a think about the mps4s but it again will be around £200 more over the older mpss. It was a bit miss leading about the XL status on some websites, I know it stands for extra load so I presumed it was reinforced sidewalls.
-
Also what are the chances black circles will do a black friday deal?
-
I am about to buy tyres for the vossen's and trying to tell myself £200 extra for MPSS is worth it over the P Zero's. But the main question I want answered first is would it be a bad idea to have XL tyres on the back and standard on the front? The tyre sizes I am looking at are 275/35/r19 for the front and 295/35/r19 for the rear. Pirrelli only make normal P zeros for the front size and XL (reinforced) for the rear. The Michelin pilot super sports only come in XL. The combined traction control difference is 0.63%so shouldn't upset it too much over the winter (I know stupid time to bring the car back on the road).

I didn’t bother with the rear diffuser or the full rear fibreglass arches and haggled a bit with their eBay prices so it was similar to their online shop. The free motorbike lights they sent were a bonus but not sure if I will buy my own as they look cheap. Its definitely a different looking kit from the usual jap stuff. I think some retro jdm wheels would set it off but as you say looking at £1.5k

Yeah, such a shame, UK salty roads that do it and poor under coating I think. Half of me wants to restore it.... but the other half with the silly hat on usually wins.
-
Been a blast, cheers for all the hard work. Hopefully the smooth operation will continue on and you can enjoy retirement. (Someone make sure he doesn’t have access to a self destruct button for the site!)

still interested in the cosworth intake manifold

I've had mine as the instructions for the past year (minimal use), my intention is to remove the diff and check for wear/ swap plates to reduce lock up and switch the bushes around as said above. I can't say much as I have hardly driven the car and it makes loud noises so hard to tell whats bad and whats normal lol. When you remove yours can you check the oem bush and the washer that sits above it, does the metal sleeve go through the washer or sit against it. (to compare the height difference between the whiteline bush setup, thanks, also post results always good to inform other forum users.

automatic car so yeah, boss kit is a rep but needs must for a daily and respray will be done in house Can't spend mega bucks on two projects, but i am practicing my painting skills on the 350z... not too great so far lol.
-
Yeah an rb26 would be epic but pricey these days Trying to do this on a budget of 7K, parts wise all I should need is some nice mesh for the grill,paint,£130 ebay intercooler pipework, new steering wheel, horsham stage 1 chip, and maybe a spare CD001/9 gearbox. If the funds allow it I will get a CD999 gearstick relocation kit otherwise its cut and weld the oem item. Not sure why my facebook pics arn't showing now.

Sex doll arrived. Or was it car parts? Won't be fitting them until the Z is mobile and out the way.
-
So the difference in catches is small but the quality of the real item is obviously better. The fake will go on the koukicuda. As the lock is suspect (check the gap). Also no fixing plate underneath which will need something fab'd up rather than tiny washers. Filled in some rivet holes that weren't used on the stardast kit so it looks a bit better and less like a bodge together of kits. prep for spraying. and then I sprayed.... might have ****ed up a skirt, tried a different method of spraying on a table rather than hanging everything like i did before, it wasn't as good/easy then my light broke so I wasn't able to see how much paint was overlapping. Doh. Waiting for the morning to try again on the other panels.
-
I have an s14 kit coming tomorrow from them so I will let you know. The diffuser I bought off them wasn't great due to no instructions and the fittings were useless, also had to hack it up to fit.
-
Bottom red stripe added for breaking up the murdered out look. I hate the prep work Also bought a cheap set of areocatches, not sure if i will fit them to the z or the koukicuda, the locking mechanism looks rife for corrosion issues, so I may splash out on a real set and compare the two.

So the brakes are done, but no chance of testing them so the review will have to wait. Only a few burdens with the kit; 1. it has a few washers/spacers which are fidily to keep in place when bolting up the caliper bracket to the hub. 2. the brake hoses are not as easy to attach as the hel items I had previously, you need to rotate the whole hose which is a bit annoying if you have left a drip tray on the ground and it keeps hitting it out the way 3. the bracket for keeping the hoses free from hitting suspension parts is not the easiest or obvious where to place it. ?? still not sure if I like the idea of the BC suspension bracket and the hose is slightly shorter so wont work with the hel bracket. Apart from those tiny gripes it is a decent kit to fit. These were totally caked in @*!#, needed a proper clean to get the little fork spring retainer out. Stupidly I did a rookie mistake, in my wisdom I thought it would be wise to crack/check all the nipples would open, then tighten them back up again.... bar one. This led to air being brought into the system for ages until I realized why the bubbles were moving too fast and not properly creating a vacuum Might need to buy another brake fluid as the level is low, doh!

USA had to import it with the AMS parts, stardast parts were easier to get hold of :-/
-
Because it's a pain in the ass to get, nowhere in europe does it. Your was sweet and it was always unique at shows, don't know any other car that runs it now?
-
Other side done, Just need some time to bleed the system. Might have had a fight with the wheel arch liner so I could fit my torque wrench in...
-
Exellent! Thanks Adrian

Thought i would throw my 2p in as the whiteline picture for Rear lower control arms - W62989 should be a metal sleeved bush I believe? I know you stated generic photo for the SPL set and not all the photos are correct but just in case anyone was wondering.
-
What torque settings did everyone use on their bolts? Similar to oem for the thickest bolts and brake hose but what did you use for the long bolts though the calliper to the brackets and the ones holding the two calliper half’s together?

Cheers for the offer, hopefully I won't need it and it's just a bit of rust and lock tight that should come off with a wire brush. . . . once it's out. back to work tomorrow so I can order the bits to arrive for the weekend and finish the bodywork prep for painting, then select the best size tyres and last but not least pass an mot
