Whats the chances that I'll end up.............
scubapics replied to Ricey's topic in Off Topic Discussion
There's only one way to find out... just do it! -
I'm trying out Optimum No Rinse. Bucket, water, ONR, a wash mit and a drying towel.

Try the mega 205 and yellow pad first. You may well find, like me, that you won't need anything else. Always start with the mildest combination and work up otherwise you will find much more work is needed (a few days or more) and that you may remove more paint than you can spare. The paint on the Z is notoriously thin.

That all depends on if you want to just clean it or go further such as swirl removal and protection. This is what I do. Normal cleaning: Wheel clean with bilberry wheel cleaner and brushes. Snow foam, then two bucket method. Finish with quick detailer (Zaino Z6). But, now that a hose pipe ban is coming in I am trialling ONR in one bucket only and do the wheels last with bilberry cleaner then use the left over ONR brush over and wipe clean. Always clean black cars in the shade or when it is overcast to avoid the water drying on the car before wiping off. This time of year I do swirl removal as well and finish with three layers of sealant (Zaino Z2 Pro with the accelerator) with a coat of Z8 in between. (Zaino Z2 Pro). Clean the car as normal, then clay bar to remove contaminants (tar, tree sap, metal filings etc) including the windows. Then for swirl removal I use a random orbital machine polisher with a yellow megs pad (or equivalent) with Meguiars M205 Ultra finishing compound (can be bought from Halfords on 3 for 2 offers!). This gives you a good base for the sealant or wax if you choose. I find Zaino gives me 3 months protection and I top it up after each wash with the Z6. Once in a while I might give it another coat of Z2. I only do a full three coat protection twice a year. Spring and Autumn. The Z2 need a warm day and not humid to cure - about 14 deg.

That's not my understanding of baby on board signs. The purpose I was always told and believe is so the rescue services are made aware that there is a baby buried in the wreckage of your car somewhere or could have been thrown out of the vehicle. How many people remove the signs when they are not carrying a small child in the car?

Where do you stand.. internet error
scubapics replied to Tarmac@TarmacSportz's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Steady on. As far as I can tell, all anyone here has done is try to answer the question as to where Tarmac stands in law with all this. I can't see anyone here saying Tarmac should screw the guy for all he's got because of a mistake. In fact Tarmac himself has suggested that he probably won't accept the item for the price he paid. Let's not blow this out of proportion and make it something it's not. DB Perhaps you are right. But it isn't how I have inferred some of the posts. We all view the world from different perspectives. I saw Tarmac's response, we crossed in the post. -

No doubt this will annoy some of you here but I don't really care judging by some of the responses so far. Does no one on this forum have any sense of honesty, honour and integrity? How would you feel if someone did that to you and expected you to honour it and were forced to honour it? Pretty cheesed off I think. To answer Tarmac's question, I don't know the legality of the situation but I would hope that the seller would contact you and explain that there had been a genuine (considering the extreme discrepancy of pricing) mistake rather than hiding behind an "out of stock" excuse and that you would accept this graciously as I am certain that, as a trader, would do if the tables were turned. -
Has anyone else had their multi car policy renewal through and found that it is more expensive than two separate policies with Admiral?
-
Axle stands on the sill jacking points using wood to pack out so that the seam is not bearing the load. You can get axle stands with slots in that should fit the sill seam if you'd rather not use some wood.
-
Erm, you don't need to release any bolts to change the pads on the Z. At least for Brembo calipers.
-
Best to go get at least two more quotes. Then you will know a) if the prices are reasonable whether the first is a cowboy outfit or not by comparing premises and people.

S2000-4U - what lovely people to do business with.

Yes please!

That's normal. The head lamp washer only operate once unless you switch engine off/on. You may also be able to reset / use the headlamp washer again from the switch to the lower right of the steering wheel near the petrol flap switch IIRC. Oh right ok - still not getting anything our of windscreen jets tho? I'll say it again. Have you checked the fuses?

My sister has a Staffy at her house in Leeds. It would just try and lick them to death! Yeah. Exactly. Great with people once they are in. But most would stay away if they heard it barking. Does it bark it's head off when people approach the house or knock on the door? I've got a picture of my old staff stuck on the door window and you would be amazed how many delivery guys press the bell, hear the dog barking (now a Jack Russell) and walk back up the path and close the gate and wait for you to open the door. No can't hear the pump running or even trying? Any ideas? Fuse?

Sorry to hear this. I can only recommend one this - get a dog. And remember, a dog's not just for Christmas. They're also for alerting your neighbours that someone is about who shouldn't be. Providing you've got neighbours of course. Battersea Park dog rescue centre in Windsor has loads of loyal Staffordshire Bullterriers needing a home. People don't select them as they think they are violent nasty animals. They are loyal loving pets but not so loving to other dogs. http://www.battersea.org.uk/dogs/staffies.html Jim

Clicking is not fixed by re-greasing! You need replacement outer CV joints. A lip on the discs is quite normal as the discs wear. What matters is the thickness of the discs. If they are still in specification then they do not need changing. I think you have two millimetres from new to minimum on the rears (can't really remember). When I checked mine this summer it had worn half way, i.e. 1 whole mm and had 1mm left. The car is 6 years old so I expect to get a year or more out of them before I need to change them as I'm quite confident that the discs are original. If your car is fitted with Brembo callipers then the Nissan supplied pads will be Brembo too. I would expect Nissan would also supply Brembo discs. The grinding noise. If it's not occurring all the time and only as you unload the car, i.e. off the gas it "could" be the differential. Based on the "lip" comment from the garage you went to I'd go elsewhere! Jim

It's winter. They want the room for 4x4s.

Watch you don't end up on this site: [mod edit: link removed as it contained language which some may find highly offensive. Lexx]

You understand correctly. You lose the tape functionality. It is reversible though. I brought the cable out at the right hand corner of the dash to use with an iphone/tomtom windscreen mount. You could bring it out into the central glove box between the seats if you wish.

The repaired unit also fail after a while so not worth the bother. Better option is to perform the ipod/iphone/mp3 hack and use one of those devices instead of antiquated compact discs. It does involve removing the unit, opening it up, and a little bit of soldering but the results are more than worth it.

How do you know they are genuine if you buy them from the likes of eBay? I remember some watchdog program about this and how they were counterfeit brake pads being sold which had the stopping power of cheese (may have exaggerated there...). Jim
