Have you ever driven in the US? it's a free for all, there are about 10 lanes in every "highway" or "freeway" and no fast or slow lanes. Freaked me the £$%! out

 

Sounds like the M25, although it is only 3/4 lanes mostly there is no right or wrong lane to overtake in! So many times I have seen a lorry in front of me being cut up from left AND right No wonder there are accidents daily on it....

 

Most annoying thing for me is when its busy, you are in the 'fast' lane and someone decided to not only cut you up but to 'overtake' at the exact same speed as the car they are overtaking!!!!!

Nah most of them have a silly blue and white cross sticker on the boot and a tartan rug on the parcel shelf.... I think they are foreign and so probably just not used to the volume of traffic in a big city...

Ian, did Nissan make em in plastic? Seen em on a few Z's at meetings that what I was told at the time.

 

Don't think they did They made mud guards but I can't recall them making underwings like that

 

Those mud guards always look really 'stuck on' if you know what I mean, dont blend in the slightest...

Pulled up last night to fill up with Super (£1.15 ) and was sat right behind a GM 55 plate Z, looked pretty standard in every way.

The guy was paying while I was filling up, as he came over he looked straight at me so I said "nice car m8" he just looked right at me, chucked his drink and sandwich on the passenger seat and got in....

I guess he was just upset with how nice the Z can look with spacers, different grille etc etc... oh and he probably realised he should have got Nissan to paint the car Azure instead of leaving just the primer on

That means getting a flat that has 2 x secure parking spaces which is more expense!

Just park the old banger in the road...... or find somewhere nice half way and leave it there, then you can drive the Z to the old banger! simples!

Why not just get an old banger to do your commute in, then enjoy the Z when you can. Im sure you can get your insurance down on the Z if you do minimal miles and as long as you get a flat with decent secure parking

Anybody got an idea whether an Evo8 would cost ALOT more to run than the Zed?

 

I have a friend who has been trying to swap his Evo8 for my Zed for ages, i finally had a go in it at the weekend and i must say that the power is addictive, its think its an fq320? that number means nothing to me lol.

 

I just want to know that in the real world its worth swapping, i mean looks and style the Zed wins hands down, but the the power of the evo... plus it counts as a 4 door saloon so will keep her indoors happy because its got enough room for future children lol !!

Bit off topic but my missus told me yesterday that on her commute she saw a cyclist shooting through a red light and there just happened to be a cop on a motorbike and he pulled him over, she said every motorist that went by was cheering and laughing

Remember some people are 'economical' with the truth when it comes to "what did you pay" threads, a bit like the "best mpg" threads... and NOBODY is ever going to post that they paid £12,000 for a 53 plate JDM with 100,000 on the clock are they

At the end of the day if the price is right for you then go for it, you will always find someone who got a better deal and someone that got a worse deal, thats life. If all you do is fret about getting the best deal possible you might miss out on the car you really really want.

How many times have you been sitting round a pool on holiday trying to relax and catch some sun and all you can hear is some **** going on about how he got a fantastic deal and saved x amount on his 2 weeks summer holiday. If all you can do on holiday is go on about how much it didn't cost you then some holiday you are having....NOT!

It is laughable. The car was actually built on a Thursday afternoon as I saw it in the factory. They were on a four day week at the time though, so it was effectively Friday afternoon.

 

When the two cars were trundling down the production line and one was missing a windscreen alarm bells should have been ringing about just how well built these things were

Well - I got the car back yesterday.

 

It needed new actuators for the Turbo - and I dont know if its me or not, but im getting mahhosive turbo lag now, but Ill put that down to always being there and just not paying attention.

 

The electrical fault causing the other error messages was fixed too. Some electrical fault causing a fuse to blow was diagnosed.

 

After about 24 to 30 miles, the faults are back again today. Im guessing its blown the fuse again. Now finding out why the car is blowing fuses is going to be a great barrell of laughs.

 

Appologies for sounding like a broken record, but I want to publicise just how incredibly @*!# these cars are. Will be looking at getting rid now. JLR cars are simply piles of @*!#. Ive had better quality and more reliable cars from our local motor auctions that I bought for £300.

 

Got a technician coming out to look at it within the hour. I hope he brings a can of petrol and a match.

You certainly got a friday afternoon car, I reckon they started yours at about 16:00 on said friday..... and it was finished for the weekend

Great to see im not alone.

My work colleagues can't understand why I commute on the A20 & M25 everyday in my Zed, they ask why I don't but a run around or even use my Diesel Leon but it's a crap commute, why make it worse by driving a worse car?

I know most people when buying a car look at how many or few miles it has done but personally when I was looking for a Zed I saw 2003 or 2004 cars that had done 20-25k and it put me off, they must have been sitting around for months on end doing nothing, and when they were driven they could have been thrashed about. I saved a few £1,000 and got a 54 plate that had done 70k and ive already put 10k on in 7 months and loved every single minute and mile of it (except when my clutch needed changing!)

Every other week when I have the option of using the Leon I think that I will be sensible and drive it as it uses half as much diesel as the Zed uses petrol, and I am still thinking I will be sensible when I go through the Dartford tunnel with my window down at 4k in 3rd in the Zed

I've been thinking of a spacer and uprev, currently got a pop chgarger on and not planning on doing much with exhaust.

 

If popcharger was removed and spacer installed what sort of sound does the spacer give with standard exhaust?

Not sure as I got my spacer put in at same time as exhaust fitted....

Probly a case of try and see, it could possibly have been the new exhaust note just clashing with the pop charger if you see what I mean...

Not sure if the plenum alone would cause the pop charger to be noisier?

I must be a bit of a woos as I put the bungs in the Buddy Club the morning after it was fitted

As long as the rubber boot stops come off ok you can just take the spring out and put a couple of pennies underneath it, there are pics on the thread. Dont go too mad straight away, especially if you have a spoiler cos you can cause damage!

For me 2x1p each side works a treat but I guess it depends how fooked your springs are.

Boot pops up nice now, It really annoyed me until I saw the thread on here

It took me 5 minutes and 4p to sort my boot out
