Did anything get posted about the group buy?
-
I think im going to try what husky said at the start for now and see how that goes, cheers though.
-
Maybe some plumbing pipe thats slightly bigger to slide over the join then drill some holes through and secure with some pins. Either that or lots of duc tape.
im thinking the pipe is the best idea tbh duct tape is a mahoosive no no trusting it with my camera let alone someones car .
craigtt
yeah im thinking of getting a curtain pole and butchering that as that should fit inside (will test size with one at home first though )
-
thats the one you can buy .
-
even more crazy are the people who let me use it but should be awesome , would buy one but the only decent looking one is $900 and then shipping costs would cost more than its worth .
-
Ill have a look into it .
-
by slide around what do you mean? if you get your measurements exact you will be fine and it shouldnt move.
what materials are you using as this can affect what join type you use.
also the application, need to know what kind of forces are applied to it? will it be bent, twisted, compressed?
dont exactly know what the poles are made all i know is its a metal they use it in aircrafts (iirc) its silly light but very stong at the same time, as for purpose its to hold the weight of a camera (id say around 3-5kg at its heavist) at 1 end (although it will also be held by me so weight that end isnt really a problem) and the other end will be suctioned to car.
-
I keep thinking about doing that but the pole that wouldbe in the middle could potentially slide around, it is one route im looking into but just seeing if anyone else has any other ideas .
-
Im sure it shouldnt be hard but its proving impossible, I need a way of joining 2 poles together so that it is straight, and does not wobble but it needs to be done in a way where i can seperate them again to store and transport .
poles are 20mm thick (outside diameter) and inside diameter is roughly 16/17mm anyone got any ideas on how to fix them together safetly?
so far i have tried some john guests straight connectors but they are the poles move around too much for it to be any use, i have been around all the local diy stores and screwfix and thats the only thing that looked like it would do the job.
so any help would be appreciated

is it bad i can just imagine the tractor chasing some criminals across a field... well i say chasing i see it more the criminals strolling away whilst the tractor is slowly getting further and further away with an angry policeman insdie.
(got a feeling that could just be me tbh).

i want pictures of mine but i want some bits sorted first
Awesome stuff, just let me know when no doubt ill have other offers like this
-
Could we organise a group meet but seperate photoshoot to cut costs on your travel ?
Theres quite a few of us around the midlands so you could do 4 or 5 at the same time ???
I'd be interested but I don't know of any great locations
+1
Yeah I can do it as a group buy/meet sort of thing, as you say will lower peoples and my travel costs and plus ill have more assistants
if someone wants to sort one out with say 4-5 (or however many people want the shoot, just need to bare in mind it will take around 45mins to an hour per car i imagine) and if its done as a meet most peoples cars will have the same backdrop/set up as everyone else. then just let me know where you aim to have the meet and ill work out the price per person etc.
also just to let you know my availability in oct is currently
16-17th (this weekend)
23rd pm only, 24th all day
30-31st
Nov is currently
6-7th
12-14th

the second black and white shot one is the best imo, the first black and white one is a bit too dark near the top of it, as for the colour ones... some have have too much lens flare in them for my liking and i think the building/lights are a little bit too distracting in the colour ones compared to the black and white .
