  1. Ekona I understand your point, having just received a communication from my 'clever accountant' regards my latest VAT payment of thousands of pounds. The difficulty with any taxation system i guess is it's ongoing complexity and changing nature along with the ability of those administering it to keep up with those changes. Whether they be changes to corporation tax, VAT, PAYE, benefits that may or may not be tax deductible etc. The whole thing has to be a minefield to manage, although that's a poor excuse. As Chesterfield's pointed out, there's clearly a difference between avoidance and evasion and to be fair I'm being hypocritical as I've benefitted from some of those tax loop holes and here I am moaning! What goes around comes around I suppose. Its never going to feel like a right time to pay tax. I'll just keep paying my accountant, pay what's legally due and try not to worry about too much. I have no justification for complaining and I'm fortunate to be able to put a roof over my head and still eat, which is a lot more than some other poor souls.
  2. The new computer system that was installed is now paying dividends, fingers crossed over the coming years there will be less errors. This will mean it's far less likely that people will be asked to pay extra or indeed getting a rebate. The HMRC, revenue office, tax man whatever you want to call them/it are just doing their job. I don't mind paying my taxes as I know on the whole I will be benefitting from them somewhere in the system, somewhere down the line. Frankly what really pisses me off are those F'ers, be they individuals or organisations. Who avoid paying tax through manipulation of tax loopholes and laws because they can afford to pay exceptionally clever accountants to find those opportunities for them (and then offsetting that accountancy cost as an expense which they can also claim for/against. The man / woman in the street is, and has been for years, getting the 5hitty end of the stick. It makes me quite angry that not everybody 'pays their way'. Such is life I guess.
  3. Oh yes, now we're talking, I'd love a DS. Even more so if the previous owner or garage chucked in a free beret and some Gitanes to enable me to pull off the full galic look.
  4. All the very best and have a fantastic day, I wish you both joy, happiness and health for the future
  5. Spotted you heading westbound just around 7:30, probably a 4 / 5 miles West of J16 Swindon on the M4. Great looking car, think you had black wheels, but I only got a glance, very nice
  6. On my way to the office this morning just around 7am and spotted you on the A46 headed toward Bath, so I'm guessing you'd just come off / come over the M4 at J18. Lovely looking car, wasn't sure if you were a Chilli or a Rosso but it looked like you had a Nismo kit. I was quite taken back as red's are so rare, seeing another one like mine just by chance was great
  7. + 1 with Ekona and Chris, I wouldn't take my car through, just not worth it. You could check and see if the park has a safari bus / coach thing. They often have one for people who want to see the animals but not drive their own car through. I think Longleat have one, so it might be worth checking out if this park has something similar. Longleat also have a 'cut through' which avoids the 'cheeky monkey' enclosure
  8. Welcome aboard Chris, sounds like you've chosen the right car There are quite a few of us in and around the Bristol area, just keep your eyes on the South West meets section for any upcoming gatherings
  9. Glad you found a buyer Mike, I hope they appreciate what a fantastic car they've got their hands on.I hope you pointed the new owner in the direction of the forum Make sure you pop in and visit us every so often mate
  10. Must have you I saw then mate. I didn't realise you were in a roadster as I only got a quick glance, she looked lovely
  11. Spotted a lovely Black 350Z heading in to Bath on Lansdown near the race course. Got a friendly wave back
  12. Yes please Ian If you're going to be at Combe on Saturday I'll give you the money then
  13. I've not really had any negative comments, well none that I'm aware of. I've had the Japanese tourist thing, stood in front of the car having their photo taken or taking photographs of it. I quite often see people having a 'nose' at it when I've parked it up or as I'm walking to it. That's always nice as there are often a lot of Porches, Astons, Maserati's etc where I park. It might be because I have Zed badges on the car rather than the Nissan ones, perhaps they're not sure what it is? I still get people going past me on the motorway and staring at the car, which amuses the better half no end I was in the underground car park at a local supermarket a few months ago sticking some shopping in the back of the car. Youngish chap with a couple of friends were walking past me to his little astra. "I love your car mate.....I see around town quite a bit, I really like it....now here it is parked next my crappy little car.....I'd love a car like that". To be honest I didn't quite know how to respond, I think I just said thanks and we've all got to start driving something and that I was sure he'd get one if he put his mind to it and saved up. Part of me wanted to say "Mate, let's drop this shopping crap and let's go for a blast!" I think the best comment the Zed's got is one I didn't even hear. I was waiting outside a shop for my girlfriend and there were two young lads, about 8 or 9 hanging around on their bikes. Better half gets in to the car and asks if "...I heard that?" and I respond with a no. As she was getting into the car one of the lads said "When I grow up and have a family I'm going to have a sensible car to take the my wife and children in and them I'm going to have a flash car like that to show off to my mates..."
  14. Some people will always have more money than sense. l wonder if Bentley really expect their discerning customers to buy these? Actually, its not the discerning customers they're aimed at is it
  15. GM 350Z heading westbound just after 7:30 probably a couple of miles west of J16 / Swindon.
  16. You might be better off looking at this stuff bud I expect Motaman in Bedminster will have it
  17. Yes, although to be fair I only stepped back for a moment to take the photo's then went straight back to licking it
  18. Swiss plate by the looks of it.
  19. Just spotted this gorgeous SLR parking outside Had to nip out and grab a quick couple of shots
  20. +1 Diesel cars also require more regular servicing (Oil, filters etc) if you hope to keep them running for any significant time.
  21. Did Peston mention anything about the European Central Bank recently?
  22. Classic and Sports Car magazine, so I can drool over old Astons, Jags, Ferrari's, Stratos etc and work out where I would put them all if I had a garage big enough
