  1. The Highway Code States: Many of the rules in The Highway Code are legal requirements, and if you disobey these rules you are committing a criminal offence. You may be fined, given penalty points on your licence or be disqualified from driving. In the most serious cases you may be sent to prison. Such rules are identified by the use of the words ‘MUST/MUST NOT’. In addition, the rule includes an abbreviated reference to the legislation which creates the offence. Although failure to comply with the other rules of The Highway Code will not, in itself, cause a person to be prosecuted, The Highway Code may be used in evidence in any court proceedings under the Traffic Acts (see The road user and the law) to establish liability. This includes rules which use advisory wording such as ‘should/should not’ or ‘do/do not’. Part 5: Lane discipline (264 to 266) 264 You should always drive in the left-hand lane when the road ahead is clear. If you are overtaking a number of slower-moving vehicles, you should return to the left-hand lane as soon as you are safely past. Slow-moving or speed-restricted vehicles should always remain in the left-hand lane of the carriageway unless overtaking. You MUST NOT drive on the hard shoulder except in an emergency or if directed to do so by the police, HA traffic officers in uniform or by signs.

  5. Whoaaa, wonder if Jurgen could get his hands on a De Tomaso Pantera? :cloud9:
  6. Not had a chance to respond to this yet. All I can say Dave is that you have got hold of a very nice motor, cracking car and I hope its just what you were after. I don't know if or when I'll replace the 350Z. I've had the odd twitch now and agin to upgrade, to be fair I am becoming more tempted by the 370Z. That being said, I am also aware for the same money as 370Z I could get a very tasty Maserati 4200, which is tickling my fancy at the moment. I shall keep my little Chilli anyway I think, maybe I need to focus on finding some more garage space?
  7. Set of 19" Rota GTR's on mine see sig for comparison
  8. Spotted in the car park of Sims Group this evening about 7:30
  9. Lovely looking GM 350Z behind me on the A418 this evening about 7pm. I was 'shedding not Zedding' in the little old silver Audi cabriolet in front of you
  10. The MPSS are dope Handled Wales very well
  11. As long as you think you had a fair experience with Tradelink and you got the car you were after then that's all the matters. Anyway, sounds like you've got yourself a Zed that you're pretty happy with overall, so welcome aboard. Red Zed's (both Chilli and Rosso) are pretty rare on the forum and in the flesh, so you're a member of an exclusive little band, we are few and far between.
  12. Belated best birthday wishes Bennett, hope you had a great day
  13. Ever thus is the cycle of economics and employment I'm afraid. You've worked hard, you've got a bonus and a slight salary increase, although not as much as you'd hoped for. Lesson 1. Nobody ( no company) is going to take all the risk, leverage itself in multiple ways, invest time and money (in materials, marketing, training, customer relationships, development, technology etc) and put themselves out by stretching the ability of the business to maximise profitability and income and give you the cream of the crop, it just doesn't work that way. A well run organisation will have multiple timescale plans, 3 month, 6 month, yearly, 3 year, 5 year, 10 year etc to reach their business goals. It may be that the profits reaped now and so widely discussed and talked about are already ear-marked for business plans running years in to the future. Its not realistic that the money is sloshing around in a big bucket somewhere, or that the CEO has made a throne out of £50 notes. If you feel you've worked hard, done well, met the requirements set down for you in your development plan then speak to your line manager. Explain you're pleased you've got the bonus and pay rise. Then explain how you'd like to see that pay rise increase next year. Say you'd like to work on plans in your area to help the team (and him / her) to exceed the department targets, aims to get the best out of future opportunities for the business, reduce wastage and costs etc. This way you're indicating you understand the decision this time, but that you're also aware you have the opportunity to influence that decision in the future. You're showing you are keen to put the effort in for the organisation and for your own benefit, talk about targets, talk about measures (make sure they are challenging but acheivable etc). Then set off for the next 12, 18 or 24 months in meeting that target, which is measurable and reward driven by an additional bonus / salary increase for the team (not just you, everyone has to benefit). See how that is received, make them understand your worth, understand what you can bring and what they'll lose if you go. Can they afford to lose you.....make them think they can't. Then see if they meet their end of the bargain, if you don't think they will then look elsewhere, look for a new opportunity. You lose nothing by being positive and offering a forward thinking alternative to them. However, this is critical, make sure any agreement is concrete, measurable, stretching but realistic. If they agree to that approach then you could be on to a winner, both financially but also in terms of the organisations view of you. If you think they're taking the 'urine' then smile, work hard and get on with things. Just make sure you keep your eyes open for another opportunity which is right for you and then make the jump when it appears. Or you could just go in to the office on Tuesday next week, head to your line manager and say "Do One" and walk out and find something else to do instead, perhaps chase the money in the other opportunity maybe, as you've been made the offer.
  14. As others have said, a big thanks to Graham and Joy for picking up the baton with this weekend, its a hell of a lot of work. The fact it was so successful shows just how much effort was put in. Huge appreciation to all those who helped out, organised stuff, took pictures, checked routes, liaised with the Moreton / Country Cooks etc. A huge 'Pip-Pip', 'Top-Hole' and 'Ding-Dong' to everyone who attended, you all made the weekend really good fun, 10 / 10 to the lot of you. As they say, what you get out of something, depends on how much you put in. (Note: SMD / BBK I feel the need to point out that no innuendo is intended here)
  15. Many congratulations to you and the better half Rich, fantastic news. I'm sure the next few months will go super quick. You are up for the most amazing change in your lives ever, embrace and enjoy it!
  16. So pleased you enjoyed the weekend Natalie. I think we're all really glad you had fun and that you felt welcome amongst us all. That photo is just fantastic, what a great momento of your first Wales run, top marks to Hans the biker. I can imagine your dad with a great big smile seeing that picture
  17. I was going to ask how the brakes were? You were making good 'progress' yesterday so not surprised the fluid needed a bit of cooling
  18. I would like to add my thanks to those who've already posted. Graham (and others) many thanks for organising such a great Wales weekend, yet again really terrific drives, great scenery and a top atmosphere. I should also say thanks to Darren, Will (and Dad), Colin, ChrisS, James and a whole host of others who yet again made this weekend a success by leading groups, collecting money and generally keeping us all safe and under control. As always one the best things about Wales on top of the drives is catching up with people. It was really good to see everyone, although we didn't get as much time to chat was we'd have liked. Great to see Dave and Mary, Andy and Lydia, Steve and Bev, Chris and Zoe, Ian and Jayn as well as Chris and Mrs Keyser, Bob and Mrs Buster, Andy (let me know when you're coming down to the West Country!), Bennet and better half, Adrian, Matt, Screamer, Dips, Marky and the list could go on and on but I feel I must make sure I mention Joy and June, thank you ladies for again being so welcoming and freindly . It was also a great pleasure to meet so many first timers. Twobears, I hope you and your man enjoyed yourselves, you seemed to be having fun. Now just remember, you've torn round the Evo triangle in your roadster, so no more driving excuses allowed ok. Andrew and Norman, hope you both enjoyed the drives and the company. I feel I should make sure I mention Matt really good to meet you, you've got a cracking Zed there. Also Ianhampton, who everytime I glanced in my mirrors looked like he was having a fantastic time judging by the way he was 'making progress in that roadster of his! Finally I'd like to say how great it was to see Natalie (Keith Arnold / Maccaman's daughter) join us for the weekend. I hope you were made to feel welcome and enjoyed your time with us. It was also great to hear so many people talking about not only Keith to Natalie and among each other but also talking about Mark (Sparky370Z) as well. Both were very much missed this weekend, as I think the minutes silence held among us showed. Many thanks all, great drives, great company and amazingly great weather. Roll on 2014!
  19. Very nice, that garage tend to have some good quality cars. They've got a nice little Mondial 3.4T cabriolet there at the moment as well, very tempting if it was a few grand cheaper
  20. It'll be very interesting to see what happens here, I wonder how transparent any investigation and revelations will be. It doesn't come as a surprise to me if I'm honest, the same sort of thing has happened numerous times across varied industry areas. I wonder what the legal precedent is here and how it might be used to weigh and consider any action. In reality, although the cost of fuel to us as 'the man in the street', is seen to be extortionately high. Its the tax which is really the issue. That being said, on the scale of 'rip-off's', the price fixing of petrol is small fry compared to the rigging of Libor.
  21. Washed the Zed on Sunday, dashed inside to make a cup of tea before polishing and it had started chucking it down before the kettle boiled I've had to drive her a bit this week so I'll have to give her another wash on Thursday. Fingers crossed I can then give her a polish as well as cleaning the exhaust etc. Shouldn't take too long as she's not to grubby now Oh well, I love it really
  22. For most part I really enjoy what I do, like most things however it can get stressful and very tiring. I worked from 5th Jan to 23rd March this year non stop, no breaks, no days off for example. Fortunately that doesn't happen that often, thank god. I guess working hard, pushing myself to learn and do things, putting myself in circumstances out of my comfort zone in terms of running my own business has been very tough in a lot of ways. Lots of work related travel, lots of targets (most self imposed), working in ever altering environments.....working with muppets . I've had my fair share of luck though, and that has helped. If I don't take a moment out every and then to enjoy some of the simple things in life. Be it a cold beer with friends or family in a pub garden, a weeks break to Venice with the better half soaking up history, a trip up to London to see a concert or comedy gig with a night in a hotel. If I don't do these things then what the hell am I working so hard for, what's the point? I'm very, very lucky indeed, some of it I've worked for, some of it has been being in the right place at the right time. I run my own business because it works for me, as soon as it stops working for me then I'll happily do something else.
