  1. Isn't that standard for non imediate family? Yes, I agree you're right, I certainly wouldn't expect Panis to be told the "in's and out's. It does however indicate tha the injury was more serious than initially reported.
  2. Olivier Panis not allowed to see him when he visited the hospital in Grenoble, which I can understand if Michael is receiving treatment for a significant injury. Panis was seemingly not given any news / updates on the significance of the injury or treatment he was recieving either, which is perhaps more worrying
  3. Hoping for the best, sounds like he's receiving significant care
  4. Luckily working from home today, left Shanklin on the Isle of Wight at 6:20am and got the 7:15 ferry and got back to Bath 40 mins ago. Weather was pretty grotty on the way back and encountered some really stupid and selfish driving, par for the course these days I guess. Just logged on to the vpn and checking a few bits......wondering if I should put my onesie on.......
  5. I think if the dealer stuck the Avon ZZ5's on the car and they are fairly new. My leaning would be towards getting a set of Avon ZZ5's on the front also. Just to ensure the car is shod on the same rubber, same tyre and tread design all round. In my view you're better having a decent mid range tyre all round then 2 different brands, tread patterns etc on the front versus the back. The Avon's seem to be reasonably well like by those using them, just be checking a few forums / review sites. No harm in waiting for a few more responses from some of the other guys though, see what the overall opinion is.
  6. Agree with Sam's comment, be wary if you're changing the fronts only, there's a chance your Zed will behave as he's described. If you can afford to get the rears changed as well and keep all 4 tyres the same do it. If you can't do all 4 tyres now, get the rears changed as soon as you can afford to.
  7. Buy the best tyres you can afford, that's the straight forward and boring answer, I found (as do most people I think) that the Bridgestone REO40's were shocking. The Vred's have a fairly good reputation on here as do the Bridgestone RE050A's and Goodyear Eagle F1's. It comes down to budget I guess and whether you can get those tyres for the cash you have available. I ran the Falken 452'S for a while and found them a good mid range tyre, but they are light years away from the Michelin Pilot Super Sport I now run. Speedwise I would always go for a W or above, probably a Y as standard. Nissans recommended load rating for a 2007 / 2008 Zed is 91 front and 96 rear I think.
  8. The passing of a man who will be forever remembered for his stoic determination to see a society free and equal for all South Africans and indeed a world society that was fair and equal. A man who truly defined the very essence of statesmanship and reconciliation and who will be remembered as one of the greatest human beings that has ever lived. You're long walk is over now Madiba, rest in peace
  9. Belated birthday wishes Dan, I hope you had a great day.
  10. I used Falken 452's for 3 years or so and felt comfortable with them as a tyre, the feedback and handling etc. Having switched to the MPSS I'm glad that I did, not that the 452's are a bad tyre, they are a good mid-range buy. However, the MPSS are so much more capable and give better feedback, handling, grip etc, that I will be buying them again when I come to replace the current set. In my view, they are worth the additional cost without question, but it does come down to budget.
  11. Tradelink are indeed a forum trader and have a pretty wide selection of Zeds. I'm sure if you have any queries you can contact them and they'll be able to fill you in on the details of the cars they have. You're best bet in terms of the forum is to have a good read through the FAQ section and absorb all the info there. If you see a nice looking Zed which tempts you feel free to post up the details, pictures etc here and you'll find plenty of friendly advice offered. Oh, welcome aboard

    Next car?

What about one of these bad boys, you could even get a carbon fibre trilby or flat cap / pipe type gear to go with it: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201311059706447/sort/default/usedcars/page/1/keywords/XJR/postcode/ba12eu/price-to/6000/model/xj/radius/1501/make/jaguar/price-from/4000/onesearchad/used?logcode=p
  13. Cheat ....*cough*....ahem.
  14. 100% agree, the difference it makes in terms of balance is so noticeable I wonder how I ever managed without it. The same is true in terms of 'wear and tear' on the drivetrain etc.
  15. I've been rev matching for a couple of years now, really satisfying when you get it bang on. Practice makes perfect with rev matching, I still mess it up plenty
  16. Great little article, tob job. To be honest, I don't dislike the Z4, Boxster, S2000 or the SL, but none of them 'tickled my fancy' when I was looking. I wanted something that had a slightly 'chunky' look and feel and the Zed ticked that box for me. I think the Boxster is a great car, the S2000 a real 'pocket rocket' almost and the SL, well that's a great cruiser and drive. I'm considering a Cayman / 911 as a another possible car along with the SL55 AMG or SL600. They have great engines, build, character and poise. But for me the choice wouldn't necassarily be made because they are better / or perceived to be better than the Zed. It's just that I like driving and I think they would enable me to enjoy my driving in something different, something with an alternative character. Hell, I still get a smile on my face when I think about scooting around in my Renault 11 ( 1.4 GTL with a sunroof I might add). It can be frustrating when people 'appear to peddle' a pre-conceived perception or what is deemed to be 'accepted (albeit wrongly...in my opinion) knowledge'. What really matters is that I enjoy driving my Zed and it seems a load of you guys and gals do to......which proves if I am an idiot for preferring the Zed over those other cars, I'm not alone
  17. Many happy returns Graham, all the very best to you, have a terrific day
  18. just a little slap on the wrist then, you naughty boy Good to hear from you and glad you guys are enjoying it over there, it was a brave move to go. It's great that its worked out so well
  19. Car looks fantastic Simon, great purchase by the looks of it. Glad you're enjoying yourself out there. I still like the SL55, such a lot of car for the money. I think that or a 996 Turbo will be my next set of wheels. Unless I can find a really good value 456 that is!

    Next car?

Not Jap again Coldel, but how about a Porsche 968? Nice one up for £6500 on Autotrader, not a Clubsport, but 3 litre convertible
  21. The best comment I can add to this is maybe that we all (motorists / cyclists and pedestrians) need to think more, look more, listen more, anticipate more and perhaps, just perhaps, be a little more patient. That way, we'll all be a little safer and using the roads will be more of a pleasure.
  22. Saw a 53 plate SIlver Zed on the Circus yesterday late afternoon.
