[SOLD] 2007/07 308BHP Zed in Midnight Blue + Nismo LMGT4s
Bockaaarck replied to andyvvc's topic in Zeds For Sale
Andy, this is such a fantastic Zed, always admired it when we've seen you guys in Wales. Whoever buys this from you is going to get such a terrific car. Really hope you sell it quickly and get a fantastic replacement -
115,836 miles still going strong. Bought it with around 67,000 on it I think. Still on the same clutch it had when I bought it. But then I drive smoothly, with silky precision

We have a couple of recommended garages in the Bristol / Bath area. There's FCM Motorsport, who primarily deal with Mitsubishi Evo's etc. Several members have taken their Zed's there, including myself, and have had great service. There's also Platinum Nissan in Box, just outside Bath. They are a really solid Nissan dealership who have looked after a number of members cars, again including mine.

Which car magazines do you buy?
Bockaaarck replied to Tarmac@TarmacSportz's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I tend to buy Classic and Sportscar as I find it has a really knowledgeable staff. The writing is great and it's full of fantastic comparison articles which provide great info for potential buying -
Volvo XC70 or Audi Allroad maybe?

Not really, I've driven, TVR's, Lamborghini's, Aston's, Mercs in varying guises and in my view the Zed performs pretty well for the money paid. Lets not forget the Zed is heavy car and is primarily a GT / Sports GT rather than an out and out pocket rocket. You also never know when another car has been modified or had its output and handling improved. I lot of smaller turbo cars will perform very well against the Zed because of the power to weight ratio. Sit back and look at the performance figures for a moment, can you really say you think a 1500kg car getting 0 - 60 in just over 5 and a half seconds is poor performance? A lot also comes down to driver skill and experience or course, there will always be someone who is quicker or, prepared to take more risk. We all know racing on the road is a bad idea in any case. So as long as you're bearing that in mind, I think that's the main thing.

I thought this would come up eventually, lol I know that 99.9% of my questions I ask on here have probably been both asked and answered before, but being new to the community I like engaging and chatting with people about it. Sad I'm sure. I appreciate the help and answers I get from you guys and would rather communicate directly with people in any given subject than just type something into a search bar. Isn't that what Google is for? If my post about something infuriates then I apologise, but I'm just a new member trying to find stuff out and enjoy a natter lol Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk Darren, you're absolutely right to ask questions, please don't ever think you shouldn't. As a new owner you're bound to want a bit of advice, a bit of reassurance to help the right decisions or just get some feedback. We're just sometimes a bit grumpy, that's all

No, no. no! I would strongly advise against running the Zed on 95RON fuel or standard unleaded fuel as common practice. Manufacturers recommendation is to run on 97/98 RON or 'Super Unleaded' for a reason. I have I think once, when unforeseen circumstances have dictated, put £5 / £10 of standard unleaded fuel in the Zed. Only enough to get me to the next petrol station providing VPower or Super unleaded, where I could fill up to the brim with Super Unleaded. I fuel with VPower as standard and occasionally Tesco Momentum, I do not think its worth taking the risk of potential engine damage on the basis of saving a few pennies.

You could head out toward the Circus Maximus (watch your bags, wallets and people asking for directions from parked cars!) and take a look at the Baths of Caracalla, quite impressive and a bit of an escape from the hustle-bustle if you fancy a couple of relaxed hours. The Forum and Palatine hill by the colosseum is really good, plenty to just take in as you wander around. St Peters Basilica is worth a visit just to see the scale of the square and the opulence inside. Without fail go and see the Pantheon, incredible building. Third largest unsupported concrete dome roof which has been there for 2000+ years. Then there's the Castel Sant Angelo which gives you a nice view over the city once you climb up inside it. If you fancy something else a little bit out of Rome there's always Ostia, the old port of Rome. We didn't manage to get there last time but it supposed to be really interesting

Would agree with the Accord, pretty good for covering the essential needs of a car. If you can find one, I'd be tempted by a late Peugeot 406 diesel. One of the most comfortable sheds I've ever had. Keep it serviced well and it should run for ages

Great looking car, what a top buy. Love the interior colour also, is it Ox blood?
-
I'm happy with who I am but if there was a choice I'd pick one of these kind of folks - Christopher Columbus, Amelia Earhart, Howard Carter, Neil Armstrong, Kira Salak, Archimedes etc. People who get out there and push human knowledge, human experiences and human understanding.

Spotted parked on Alfred Treet by the Assembly Rooms, about 10:45 this morning, as I was on my way down in to the town

[SOLD]Chilli Red ZED :) 56 Plate Tasteful mods (Facelift 300HP)
Bockaaarck replied to Deklan's topic in Zeds For Sale
Deklan, this is such a great car you're selling here, whoever buys it will get a really beauty, I hope you find a buyer soon. I have to tell you, If I could justify it (and I have thought about it), I would seriously buy this from you and have a friend for my Chilli Red. -
That's just weird

Nice looking 57 plate GM 350Z going over the M40 at junction 8a this morning, probably about 7:15 -sh. I was along side you on the bridge over the motorway, gave you a toot (not a 'jazz woodbine') and then headed northbound on the M40 as you headed off towards Oxford etc.

I had a strange car related dream last night, although it wasn't a bad one. I dreamt I was driving a beautiful Ferrari 348 (late GTB model) along the Amalfi coast to Sorrento. Scooting through the towns and villages along the way, sun shining and beating down. Just enjoying the sound of that lovely engine echoing off the hills and buildings on the way to a fantastic lunch with the better half Shame I had to get up really Not sure any of the above helps you Dips, sorry

Sell the Zed and try something new nowhereboy, move on to a new experience and enjoy it

It's tempting to "keep up with the Jones's", although you may not consciously think you're doing it. I suspect we are all guilty of occasionally getting tempted even in a small way. Our circumstances are much like Commanders, although we have no horses or kids etc. Our current transport is a 2003 JDM Zed with 113,000 on the clock (worth £4500 maybe?) and an 02 plate Seat Toledo (£1600 I think?). Both cars do exactly what we need and I enjoy driving both. But like Commander and better half we like to travel, go to see comedy / gigs / theatre and we like to eat out etc. So we just tailor our expenditure by income and outgoings aligned to what we want to do, like most folks I guess. I do get tempted to buy nice cars all the time and at some point I will, but only when I can really justify it
-
This is fantastic advice.

I always work up from what is the minimum I need from a vehicle (doors, engine size, economy, comfort, mileage, age etc) and use that for determining a base level. Then I look at what cars fit in to that filtering. There might be vehicles in that range from £5000 - £50,000 and then I re-filter and refine what I'm really after and prepared to pay on the basis of various vehicles that fall in to that wider category. I'm not sure you can work to a hard and fast rule, other than avoiding putting yourself at too much financial risk / burden. Don't forget, if its a family car you're considering, what the realistic family income will be, there are costs associated with kiddly-winks . I always look at the worst case scenario financially and then re-asses, then I make a choice based on that. I have avoided buying a number of cars which I very much wanted and 'man maths' said were perfectly reasonable buy going through this process. That being said, I have never had an issue affording the cars I've run, perhaps because of that. Perhaps I'm a bit risk averse though
-
996 turbo or 997 if your budget will allow, I have considered both.......but then I've also considered a TVR Tuscan 4.0 Speed Six, so you probably shouldn't trust my judgement too much
