  1. I love the Wales meet, it's a fantastic occasion and a real blast catching up with everyone and driving on some terrific roads. As much as it counters my comments above I do wonder whether giving the meet a rest for a year might be an idea. It does allow the forum a bit of a breather from such a big event. I think this would allow time for new routes, new drives or indeed a new location (Cumbria, Devon etc) to be considered / worked on. There's a lot of blood sweat and tears goes in to setting up and organising something like this. For my part I would volunteer to help with planning & organising the event with a group of others
  2. Driver education is the key, middle lane driving is more or less a constant on the M40. I believe the education has to start as young as possible, perhaps as part of school road safety and road awareness programmes. Sowing the seed at that point hopefully means we will reap the benefit as that generation grows up and begins to drive. Sadly, I expect to see the kind of behaviour on the roads I drive, that we've all been rightly criticising. I expect it and drive accordingly. I think changing the habits of those currently driving can preferably be improved by education but also tempered by significant fines if appropriate. I genuinely believe the issue is the a lot of drivers don't think and drive 'lazy'. I think that's where this middle lane, no anticipation, poor road spacing and selfish attitude comes from I don't like driving on a road at 70mph with lazy selfish people all around me. They're the kind of people who cause accidents. It's up to us all to be vigilant, drive thoughtfully / safely and anticipate idiocy. Hopefully that will keep us all in one piece
  3. We saw it in London a while ago, it was fantastic. Hope you enjoy it Andy
  4. Just remember folks, you may have amazing calipers, discs and pads. Your potential stopping power may be fantastic and otherworldly.........but if your thinking time is crap, the benefits of the other stuff will be drastically reduced
  5. The pictures really give a feel of a really close, cosy and friendly day, must have been lovely
  6. 1) De Tomaso Pantera GTS 2) CItroen DS Decapotable 3) Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing 4) Lamborghini Miura SV 5) Iso Grifo
  7. Many, many congratulations to you both Fran and Andy. Hope you had a wonderful day!
  8. My friend, this is all you need to remember when people bring up the Renault engine nonsense
  9. There's some solid advice here, but it's important (I think) to remember one thing. A house, flat, bungalow, narrow boat should primarily be one thing and that's a home. If it turns out to be a good investment then happy days. Secondly, you may feel that renting as you do now is throwing money down the drain. However; you do also have ultimate flexibility. Lose your job? Give notice and rent somewhere cheaper or move in with relatives. Find a terrific job across the other side of the country? Give your notice and just move. Boiler breaks, drains need doing, windows need replacing....at the moment none of those costs / worries are yours. This, in your circumstances, puts you In the ideal position to continue saving for that deposit. Property, which is a word with connotations I don't like, is statistically a solid long term investment. Having a home is what is really operant however. Don't get hung up on feeling you have to get a lovely, massive house. I realised that I actually didn't need a big house, I just need a yurt with garaging for 30 cars. Although the better half wasn't so convinced by that You can buy a home on your income and with your savings. You may not be able to buy a six story house in South Kensington (or maybe you can!). But i bet you can buy a nice home in a rnice place / town / village that you guys can live in for 2 / 5 / 10 years or for the rest of your lives. In my view taking on a mortgage in this or any economic climate which takes up 50% of your income is not wise. That has the potential to become a millstone rather than what it should be, which is a home. Still, you're the one who has to make the decision. There are some very knowledgable and helpful people here, particularly Sarnie in this case. Think about what you need rather than what you want. Then try and find a home that you need, that has as much of what you want as possible. Do the sums, weigh up the pros / cons and build in some contingency, then get some professional advice. All the best
  10. That's right Pete, I believe he shouted ..."get a decent car".... But it was ok, because if memory serves me right. He had to correct his road positioning, before he headed across the white line in to oncoming traffic, which amused me
  11. I've had to approve a series security and AV based changes across our entire IT estate yesterday and today. I expect the next couple of weeks to be busy in this respect and probably quite stressful
  12. Van Diemen Formula ford (back in the day when I was a bit more 'svelte', sadly they don't do a 'fat boy' model ), AMV8 Series 3, SL55 AMG, Lamborghini Gallardo, TVR Tuscan 'Red Rose'
  13. Kev, thanks for the response, I understand your thinking a bit more. I don't want to argue about this either. Your quite right that you were putting across a different opinion, wouldn't want to suggest you stop doing that. I just wasn't sure about your view on situation but you've made that clear, thanks.
  14. You see Kev, I guess the question is as follows. Would you rather that you, or your wife / girlfriend / son / daughter / granny / grandad be driving on roads with fellow motorists like Dt_028 or with Cocks like the buffoon in the black Zed he's described? Just a question, just wondering which you think is worse. Driving like a selfish, dangerous, accident waiting to happen idiot.....or someone who thinks "My, that fellow is going to end up having a nasty prang, I better tell, ginger, bunty and the boys, so they can watch out for the rascal...." I'd be interested to understand your logic.
  15. Dt_028 thanks for highlighting this dangerous, foolish and shameful driving by posting this on the forum. You've hopefully got a clear understanding from previous responses that we are not fans of poor road manners or indeed in this case downright dangerous driving putting other road users at risk. As Martin has highlighted, the forum has a very strict and clear view on what is expected of forum members in terms of driving and safety at all forum organised events and gatherings. The hope is this view also then guides their behaviour when driving alone or outside of organised events. Sadly this kind of behaviour is too common. As someone who has had to deal with the outcome such reckless and dangerous driving a number of times, with potentially horrific consequences. I support your reporting of this individual to the appropriate authorities
  16. Fantastic pictures guys, they're terrific!

  21. Just got home and having a lovely cup of tea Another epic Wales weekend, I cannot thank Graham, Colin, Darren, Will, ChrisS, Andy & Lydia, James and a whole host of others enough (particularly you Monkeybrain ). As much fun as always, great company, great cars, great drives (on road / off road - delete as applicable..... ahem). Really hope everyone else who attended had fun and enjoyed themselves, especially you first timers. We're fortunate on this forum to have some exceptionally skilled and capable drivers and organisers. It's their efforts on weekends like this that hopefully help you appreciate what a terrifically capable car the Zed (350/370) is. Great to also catch up with so many friends as well, you've made this weekend a real blast, we love you guys, thank you!!!
