Getting emotional about saying goodbye
Bockaaarck replied to twobears's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Annie, it's a shame you're moving on, but I'm sure the new ST3 will be great fun. Just remember all the fun you've had with Mr Zedders and smile. It's the memories that a really important -
Good for you Commander, congratulations Sensible head says take a step back, have a couple of beers and think. Common sense says talk to an IFA + Mortgage company and work out the implications of paying 20K of that. What are the costs / whatever are the benefits? If paying £20k of your mortgage now means you're mortgage free 5 years earlier or saves you potentially that 20k + £x thousands of pounds off your mortgage interest over the term of the mortgage then it's a no- brainer. I would strongly advise you to speak to a qualified IFA and at least get a few clear options, then you're informed. Alternatively get rid of the HR and spunk the lot on a new quality set of wheels, like the 911 Turbo, XKR or something equally phat. It's free money after all. You could really go a bit mental and get something like a Mustang, Corvette, 348 GTB/GTS or a F355. You could go for something like a Maserati, a SL55 AMG a Sagaris, etc, etc. Or you could take that £20k and work out how many amazing places you and the better half can travel to over the next couple of years. That would be an opportunity to create some fantastic memories, opportunities, experiences the like of which most people will never have. Whatever you decide, all the very best to you EDIT: I'd just like to add that one thing I would do is possibly buy some fantastically luxurious and comfortable lottery winning pants. Which I would wear just because it would make me feel a million dollars

Gaming is potentially one of the best value for money past times out there. It can be tempting to buy the next game / console as soon as it comes out and sometimes that's ok. I think the better half and I probably have something in the region of 300 hours playing time on Skyrim between us. For £40 over a period of a couple of years, that's a great return in entertainment.

Fodder's bang on the money, there is / was a one time transfer kit which I used for my 360. Did what you're thinking of doing now Dynamic Turtle. Bought a new 120GB drive and transferred a load of saved stuff on to it, then had loads more room for new game data and saves. You should be able to get hold of one without it being stupidly expensive

Darren-B's 1971 240z Project Pumpkin Major UPDATE P48
Bockaaarck replied to Darren-B's topic in Other Cars
Glad you're ok after that little blaze Darren, must have got the blood flowing! Looking forward to more updates. -
Sunset / Starburst / Sunburst you know what I meant. Only trouble is I clearly didn't

Spotted in the car park after we got back from the revival yesterday afternoon. Looked good with the Nismo spoiler on it

I played the Beta, but haven't fired it up yet this morning. The Tour of Britain is coming through Bath, so it's chaos this morning. I got a call from the council asking me to move my car on the Circus before the tour comes through. I asked them why and they said I had to move it because it was dirty ..........

Glad you guys enjoyed it Daryl, it's a fantastic city. Good that you went out for 5 days too, there's so much to see. We've been a couple of times and we'd head back there again tomorrow as long as commitments / timing / money allowed. Feel like we've still only scratched the surface and that there's plenty more to see still. What did you enjoy the most? Did anything surprise you? Was there anything you missed which you'd like to back and see? More importantly, what did your better half think?
-
Bought it for PS4 and can't wait for it to arrive. I played the Beta and it felt like its got terrific potential . I'm working away on my clients site for the next few days so won't get play it until Friday morning. Still, handling the contract close and handover on Thursday. Don't think I'll bother picking up any new clients for a couple of weeks so I can focus on Destiny without any interruptions

It would make zero difference, they still wouldnt be asked to remove Burkhas for fear of retribution. It doesnt matter if the stats show helmet wearer robberies exceed burkha wearer robberies, they still happen as documented below. Does Selfridges count? http://www.bbc.co.uk...london-22811466 If, from a statistical study, something is proven to occur more often. It would seem reasonable (one might think) to draw conclusions from that frequency (or lack ) of occurrence and use those conclusions, influenced by proven data capture and analysis,to either encourage or dissuade certain actions or behaviour no? I can only assume (because I don't have access to the data) that unfortunately and historically, that a significant number of people wearing motorcycle helmets have committed robberies at petrol stations and other locations. Companies, including massive organisations like Shell, Esso, BP, Tesco, Morrisons etc, etc do not want to alienate done of their clientele on purpose. They want biker money as much as anyone else's . However, their risk assessors and insurance have identified to them that 'Bikers wearing a helmet are a statistical risk'. Therefore they may feel they have to act on that and ask bikers to remove their helmets. It's unfair , it seems like a minority is being picked on just for riding a bike and it's not fair someone else can cover their face, etc, etc.Its a bit crap isn't it? However, until statistics show that Burkha wearing robbers pose as much or more of a statistical risk than bike helmet wearing robbers, it's not going to change, that's just the way it is. Don't get angry with the Burkha wearers, get angry with the bike helmet wearing idiots who steal stuff from people, it's their fault at the end of the day. Alternatively try riding wearing a burkha over your helmet, they will never ask you to take your helmet off, because they won't see it under your burkha. That way you're beating them at their own game

Does Selfridges count? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-22811466 No, it's not a garage
-
I would like someone to provide me with a statistical analysis, from an official body recognised by law in this country. Of the number of garages historically held up by people wearing crash helmets, versus the number of garages historically held up by women wearing burkha's. I feel this might add something useful to the debate.

Goodwood Revival September 12th & 14th.
Bockaaarck replied to WhackyWill's topic in National Events & Shows
Been wandering around town today, keeping our eyes open for gear to wear. Found a few jackets already, going to need to check if my Panama hat is up to it, might need to get a new one. Already the better half has managed to convince me that a vintage pair of ladies Ralph Lauren sunglasses are just the thing for her outfit. I have a funny feeling this might be a pricey weekend. Having a quick pint before popping off to look at cravats don't you know! -
Goodwood Revival September 12th & 14th.
Bockaaarck replied to WhackyWill's topic in National Events & Shows
Going to be there on Sunday, thanks to a Birhday pressie from the better half. Been to the Festival of Speed a few times but this will be the first visit to the revival. I'm really looking forward to it -
We fly in to Haneda and out from Narita. It looks like its a 40 min journey on the road, about an hour by train. Would love to have got in to Narita on the way but it's not worked out that way, it would have been easier I think

Seasider, it's been our aim to get out to Japan for ages. Just been really lucky to find a good deal and have a bit of money saved to go. To be honest it got to the point where we just thought 'F-it.... If we don't go now when do we go" I don't think I'll feel like doing this sort of trip at 70, so we better do it now while we can!
-
You will love it mate. I always say if I'm going to spend 11 hours in a tin can to get there with jet lag, it will take me 3 to 4 weeks to get over it, before I fly back. Tip, sleep on the plane on the way out and DONT SLEEP AS SOON AS YOU GET THERE, you will feel knackered, but fight it, and lock yourself into their time zone from day one. We should be ok, our flight arrives 'early doors'. It'll mean we sleep on the plane and then have a whole day to adjust. We did a similar thing when we flew out to the US earlier this year. First day we'll probably potter about until 10pm, then get out heads down. That should sync us in nicely to local time:). Going to spend the extra five days seeing / doing those extra things that we might regret not doing / seeing after going all that way.

Damn it I've had no choice but to extend our trip by 5 days Curse you Will and Col for encouraging me

Great info and great pictures Col / Will, fantastic! Now wondering whether I can extend our stay by a few days
