Very sorry to hear this news Rob, my deepest and sincere condolences to you and family. Clearly Christine was a terrific and beautiful person. How fortunate that you got to spend so much time and so many wonderful experiences together. Keep those special memories in mind. -
Would you rather have an underpowered flashy looking car...
Bockaaarck replied to twobears's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Mmmm......I guess if I had to make a choice it would lean toward Wolf. The reality however is slightly different. I like to choose a car based mainly on how it "drives". This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be pants wettingly quick 0-60 or have massive power or that kind of thing. If it is, then that's great. I like the Zed because I have to work at "driving" it properly to get the best out of it. I have to the same thing with my little shed. This makes driving fun for me, that's why I drive. That's why my Zed's done 126,000 miles and the sheds done 100,000. I also like to drive something slightly different, something that's perhaps a little rarer on the road, but that's just a personal thing. I'm more likely to be driving a Zed (350 / 370), a Citroen DS23 efi (1973, with leather seats, mmm lovely), a 3.2 / 3.4 Ferrari Mondial (1988 - 1993, a TVR Tuscan, an Alfa Romeo Spider (1972 - 1993), a Porsche 924S / 944S2, a Jaguar XJS, Honda NSX etc. Are some of those flash, sporty but with "no-go" and are some of them wolves in sheeps clothing? I don't know, maybe they are. Are some of them good cars, yes I think so, other people probably think some of them are crap. I guess that's what it comes down to Annie. I don't care what other people think about the kind of car I drive. As long as I like driving it, nothing else is important. -
Agree with Flex, if you can and are that concerned, rent a garage. If you're lucky you might find one close to you. If not, leave it on the street or look for somewhere to rent that has parking / garaging. It's a bit crap but those are the options, other than selling the Zed and getting something you're not concerned about.

Stunning car, looks beautiful in white. It's going to make driving a real joy, I expect you'll barely be able to keep yourself out of it

You may have something there. I tend to drive with very smooth throttle modulation so that may be it. I was taught to drive that way and always have done.

Congratulations, hope you guys had a wonderful day. Option A is definitely the one to go for

Forgot how annoyed I get this time of year......grrrr
Bockaaarck replied to Kraziekatz1's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I've noticed a lot more people driving around with their fog lights on when it's not necessary. I genuinely think this is caused by a combination of a couple of things. One, the recent propensity of car manufacturers to produce cars with daylight running lights / side lights which are set to "On" by default. Because they think / fashion thinks / we think it looks "cool". Therefore if you don't have spangly led light things you're not trendy and in with the crowd. Hence people feel the need to turn them on for some reason, god knows why? Two, sheer unbridled stupidity and ignorance about what fog lights are for. Police should be able to stop said motorists and issue an "On the spot SLAP" to the chops. Both of these factors about incorrect fog light use annoy me intensely. In fact they annoy me more than people who pull up to traffic lights, busy junctions, etc who then sit there with their foot on the brake pedal. I feel like getting out of my car and knocking on their window and saying. Me: "They saw you coming mate, salesman ripped you off a treat, I'd get some of money back if I were you, probably get a grand back...." Idiot:"...what, what rip off, what are you talking about? Take what back?...." Me:"...take it back, your car, demand at least a grand back..." Idiot"...what, why, what's wrong?.." Me: " the salesman has sold you a car with a handbrake. Definitely miss-selling as you clearly have no intention of using it, get your money back...... mind you, the incessant glare from your eye level rear brake light is brightening up my evening, a real pleasure to behold.....well at least in my right eye as said glare has caused the retina in my left eye to detach...." -
All the best and happy birthday Haydn

My 2003 Zed had no mods on it at all prior to getting my Uprev done. I had a plenum spacer fitted, Y pipe / exhaust done and then had the Uprev at Abbey. I think, from memory, I got about a 16-18hp increase. That wasn't really noticeable, but I didn't expect it to be. For me however, the improved drive-ability in the first three gears was noticeable. I guess the benefits aren't realised in quite the same way for every car. Would I have an Uprev again? I think in the same circumstances yes I would.

As above, it's a pity things have gone the way they have. However; you should have no guilt, I believe you've been more than reasonable. I hope things for you and your better half are happy and loving. I also hope the lot of this friend of yours improves, sounds like he's struggling emotionally. Emotional stress and depression are very difficult beasts to tame. I hope that things work out for the better for all concerned. -
Spotted heading up Gay Street in Bath, about 13:50. Think it was a Midnight Blue, looked and sounded nice.

Been playing some Sniper Elite 3, Hunt the Grey Wolf DLC. Really liked this game originally, so enjoying the challenge of working my way through the level. Nice to play this game again

Hey may well already have a series of previous warnings / convictions, that may have had an impact on sentencing, Primarily however, it will have been ignoring the pleas of his girlfriend to stop the car. Thereby forcing her as an unwilling 'partner' in enterprise against her will. The risk of danger to life of not only his girlfriend and his other passenger but those of the competitors in the race. He got everything he deserved , sadly I don't think this will resolve future difficulties he may present in the future. The reality is he probably comes from a home life which is unstable, with poor parenting examples and with little opportunity. It's unfortunate that youngsters like this, because they feel they have no opportunity, nothing to aim for, often run off the rails. There is little appetite for funding for specialist schemes to seize this youngsters in the early days, provide opportunity and turn them around. As it is he will probably end up being a burden to society and a very unhappy individual, which i think is a waste and rather sad

Darren-B's 1971 240z Project Pumpkin Major UPDATE P48
Bockaaarck replied to Darren-B's topic in Other Cars
Top work Darren, dash looks great after a good rubbing down (as do I, ahem). Really enjoying how you're tackling this -
It's looking better every time you update this thread Leon. I take my hat off to you for your dedication. It has to be said, and you're proving it, that it's all in the preparation. Keep it up, it'll be a beautiful E Type once you've finished.

Flex, couple of things I would say that are really, really important, or at least we're for us. 1. You are going to have the most fantastic, wonderful and brilliant wedding. You don't have to compete with anybody else's 'perfect wedding'. It's perfect already, because you've both decided to spend you're lives with each other because you love each other. You can't get more perfect than that, so anything else is a bonus 2) Make sure, and personally this was very important to me, to stop every now and then, particularly on the day itself, and just take things in for a moment. Breathe in the atmosphere, the sights, sounds, people, smells etc. These few personal moments will be more lasting as memories than photos or anything else.

We were very lucky with our wedding, I think mainly because we're both chilled out. We made a decision straight away that we would listen to the thoughts and advice and ideas of others.......then basically do what we wanted and if they didn't like it they didn't have to come . Neither of us wanted a big fancy wedding or to spend 18 hours dressed up, feeling uncomfortable. The most important thing to us was the fact we were recognising we wanted to share the rest of our lives together. We fluked our wedding venue by being cheeky. Popped down the road in to the Roman Baths and asked if we could get married there. Baths: "Yes, but you need to be here at 8:00 am, have the ceremony, and the be out by 9:30 before we one to the public". Me:"What about in the evening after you close to the public?....there'd be nobody here then, we'd have the place to ourselves, no?". Baths: Mmm, we've never done that before, never in the evening...but yes, that's a good idea, you'd have free reign then, have the ceremony, the wedding 'breakfast' (dinner) and everything through the evening, we could do that : ) " Booked and paid for (surprisingly cheap!), guests turn up at 6pm, humanist ceremony at 6:30. Married around the main bath, just us and 70 guests (which made things easy, no hangers on). Photo's done, champagne open, lovely dinner overlooking the main bath, speeches, laughter, more champagne, cake, cigars, Bee Gee's, more booze, more Bee Gee's etc. Whole thing was about 6 hours in total, perfect........very happy, very chilled out for us both, still happy now

What would you do, question for the self employed
Bockaaarck replied to Flex's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Agreed, this, plus reliability and efficiency are key for me. -

If you can prove that you'll save them 30% and be professional, efficient and reliable / trustworthy. Then I think most organisations would seriously appreciate the saving and you'll potentially have begun a very solid long term working relationship with your client. -
Good work, that looks great!
