Quick update. Nissan unable to take a look for over 10 days, must be lots of broken down Nissans at the moment. So, yesterday I spent 6 hrs stripping just about every part of roof down, greased everything and sprayed wd40 like it was going out of fashion into all the plugs, motors and connecters. Put all back together, it worked and closed, great, oh no, the knob in me decided to see if it would open, it did, then wouldnt close. Oh im such a muppet. Cue 4 hrs today doing it all again, quicker as I knew what I was doing, fingers crossed it now works a dream, must have done about 25 open/close run throughs and all looks well. Im guessing it was just a dodgy connecter, due to car sitting all winter with cover on. Sad to say car will be going on market in the next week or two, fancy itching the evo x itch for some reason, ill proberly regret it as soon as I part with my money, its either that or get another GTR, but we all know that dodgy ground. Cheers for your help Martin.

I owned a GTR for almost 8 months, silver premium, one of the first in the country. Did 6.5k miles, including an epic john o groats to lands end trip. Buy it, sell the wife, the kids, your todger, just buy it. Insurance for me and the misses was £517 a yr, i was 39, shes 35. Reason I sold it, well if id have keep it I would be at her majestys pleasure at the moment, I found myself doing speeds that would make to evening news, very silly looking back, but just so easy. I also did some track days and too be honest the car was just too damm good, almost spoilt the day, makes me, an average driver look very good. Would I buy another one, hell yes, this yr if all goes well, thats the trouble you see, once you have had one, nothing even comes close, it makes my current drive, a 350z roadster look boring, which is such a shame as it is, in itself a fantastic car.

Well was going to try the one in Colchester, purely because im at the Audi dealer next door on monday so thought I could drop car off, if not Marshalls in cambridge as I dealt with them when had the GTR.
-
Well, 7 hrs later and im still no further that I was this morning. Roof now closed apart from last 2 inches, and it now wont do anything, ie open or close. Ive dabbed grease on just about anything that moves, taken all electrical connecters apart, checked and put back, ive disconnected battery for a few hrs, sworn at it, been nice to it, said a few prayers, read just about every post on tinterweb about dodgy roofs, and still nothing. So ive put a tarp over car and come in for a beer. Bless, I was so chuffed as well as she started first time after almost 4 months under a cover, and she sailed through mot this morning. Did fit a new battery day before she was parked up, not sure if that anything to do with it. Call to Nissan stealers monday me thinks. Anyway, enough about roofs, hows you lot, is that dodgy Nixy bird still about then. Have I missed anything exciting during the long winter months.

Cheers for help mate, found toggle and gave it a pull, all that seems to do is open the boot on the jdm cars. Left battery off for an hr,no use. Beginning to run out of ideas, just hope it doesn't rain tonight, lol.

Hi folks, long time no chat, the 350z has been off the rd all winter, covered up. Decided to get sorted for the spring, so fired her up yesterday, mot this morning, passed straight away. However, on collection i thought id lower the roof, did so no problem but noticed a light on below the fuel guage. Drove home, raised roof, goes well until the boot cover goes down, then nothing, so the last stage, ie back window does not close, everything else is fine. Had a good nose round and cant seem to see a manual realise button like the wife has on her peugeots, ive no manual as the car is a import. Any ideas, even if just to get it closed, these things always happen on a sat pm hey, when everything is closed, just really want to make it safe for the weekend. Thanks in advance guys.

Well folks, ive some good and bad news. Bad news first, you lot are going to have to put up with my moaning for a little bit longer. Now the good news, im at last beginning to get what all the fuss is about, with the 350z I mean. After 6 weeks ownership it started to come to me, as someone said earlier on in post the nice weather has helped ne end, but im really starting to love the car. Had her valeted, and mopped, comes up a treat, cracking colour, done the slight scuff on front skirt, sorted the one wheel that was scuffed (found a local company to do this, they were very good). And best of all, ive been out driving her, ive no idea when it came to me, but im really enjoying the car now, and now all clean and shiney its good to look out the window at her on the drive. So, I think at least ill be spending the summer with a 350z, I do however have a couple of things still to do, hence where you nice lot come in. The fabric roof, is there anything to protect it, like when you wax a jacket. And another job is to sort the sounds, car is fitted with a Bose 6 cd/radio/tape thingy but I want to change to something I can run my ipod through. Am I best to replace with a double din beaut, or single din and fill in space, let me have your thoughts folks, more the better. Ive really no idea where to start, apart from being turned over by local shop that is. So, thanks folks, seems you were right all along, the 350z aint a bad car after all.

Oooohhhhhhh, good point my friend, I overlooked that, too much bud drunk being my excuse.

Ref the petrol, we saw adverts on the tv while over there for cars, advertising an amazing 19 mpg. They seemed over the moon with that, bless.

Howdy folks. No real point to this post, well, maybe a little one. Just back from 2 weeks in Orlando, Florida, and while driving about I couldnt believe the amount of 350zs we saw, just everywhere, they really do like them. They do seem to have a thing for Nissan full stop, id say its the most popular make after their own american makers of course. Nissan do a cracking pickup, now I thought my Navara was big, but the Titan is just mahoosive, 5.6 v8 petrol up front, I just want one, although not the fuel bills, well over here anyway. So, anybody know why the 350z is so well liked, what price to they go for.Ie the reason why they love them. Pete

I know, however the GTR was always brought to be sold, if you get my meaning, had 6 months driving 6500 miles and still made, well enough to pay for half the 350z. Buying the GTR used just about everypenny to my name, and the wifes. Could have kept it, but would have ment no holidays, takeaways, meals out,new clothes or treats. Hell, that doesnt sound too bad, im off to look for a GTR. LOL
-
Howdy folks. Now then, im sure Im asking to be ripped to bits with what im about to say, but please, bear with me. Always liked the look of the 350z and indeed Nissan so after I sold my GTR in dec 09 I began the search, did have a 370z on order but after having one on weekend test i knocked that on the head, 33k was a lot of money to have sitting about as a weekend toy. So spent 6 months looking for my dream 350z, a low mileage, blue, auto, roadster, thanks to the guys who helped with my questions. Picked her up about 3 weeks ago. Now heres my problem, im just NOT enjoying the car, cant be doing with it at all. Nothing wrong with the car, its in great nick, everything works and does what it says on the tin, its comfy, even for me and my back, it fairly gets a move on when asked too, I just dont know what is missing. As an example, weekends, I wake at 5am, if sunny and dry id jump into the GTR and roar down to the coast, bacon roll on seafront, roar back home by 8.30am. Now I know one was a 55k supercar, other is a 11k 6 yr old 350z and im aware nothing will ever come close to the GTR,for me anyway, to me it was motoring perfection, just awesome in everyway. I mean I cant even be arsed to clean the 350z, shes covered in volcano ash and bird @*!#, I know, i know, im bad I know. So come on folks, whats the answer, I know deep down the 350z is a great car, loved by many, just not by me it seems at this moment in time. If anybody want to come round and beat me with sticks, feel free, it might help. Pete

How much to pay for alloy refurb?DIY kits any good
Pete the wheel replied to M9O OEY's topic in 350Z General
Good refurb company should charge approx £45-50 per alloy at least. Id steer clear of the do it yourself kits if I was you. Wrong type of materials, and you wont get a good finish that will stay on. Where abouts are you, I may know someone in your area. Regards Pete -
