As the title says got my car booked in 7th and 8th of July to get a bit of work done with Abbey. Would like to thank Alex in advance for the clutch and flywheel. Havent even left the car in yet with Abbey and i am already pleased with there service managed to sort out a courtesy car for me and recommended accommodation close by. Have a power flow exhaust fitted along with a k&n typhoon kit looking forward to seeing the results after the remap. Will let you all know when i receive the car back.

Out of interest did they give you an invoice for how much the work would have cost to replace the clutch in labour costs.
-
yeah mate thats a good price as OOPPSS in poole look about 100 for a wheel but i know they do an excellent job.
-
Yeah but if you ask do they do discount for soldiers they look at you as if you have 2 heads. I bought 2 Apple computers last year i desktop other mac air and a few other software things. When i sat down and started to sort out paper work and asked how i wanted to pay i said cash. He then tried to convince me to pay monthly (that way would have been more of course) refused and wanted to pay cash there and then. As i was spending over £2500 on computers i asked for discount. Spoke with manager about it etc etc. Refused me discount until i stood up and kindly told him where to place the computers he then offered me at student rate. The shop in question has been mentioned in previous threads, but dont know why they do it for some and not others RANT OVER LOL

One on all the above mentioned had a lad from work who had a minor crash today. When the German police arrived they checked to see if both parties involved had their correct equipment. German yes friend of mine no. Got a 300 Euro on the spot fine and made to pay within 7 days. Not saying it will happen to everyone but worth spending that bit in the first instance and get correct kit rather than on spot fine. Especially if you have come over for the ring and get stopped on the Saturday or Sunday as you have to pay the town hall which wouldnt re open till Monday making you spend another night more hotels etc etc

If your down south near Southampton take it to auto terminal they can do it for you costs about £40 if i remember correctly and it looks good.

Yeah sorry forgot about the triangle as well knew there was something else that i have rattling around my boot.

Ensure you have GB sticker on back hi-vis vest for each passenger and yourself first aid kit spare bulbs and fire extinguisher. You may think im taking the the pi55 but thats the rules now for Germany and yes they are checking if they stop you for one thing they will check them all as my mate discovered and had to pay 400 Euro fine and 100 Euro for teh kit which the police happpen to sell as well. Easy option buy them on the boat as it comes as a complete kit for £69 if my memory serves me right.

As the title says above is this kit cheap and does it includ everything that i would require. Also if it is cheap is it a good kit to have fitted. http://www.express-enterprise.co.uk/nis ... -5617.html

The Uk's Speed Limits.......Outdated???
gazhull8474 replied to BACON's topic in Off Topic Discussion
In Germany i happily cruise along at 100-120mph dont need to go any faster with any other road users about but like the comment above if the speed limit is raised so will cruising speeds. Dont get me wrong i have put the pedal to the floor a few times when the roads have been clear at night or first thing in the morning but the autobahns are so much better built not as many bends on them or no where near as many slip roads where most accidents occur either entering the motorway or leaving. I think everyone has an opinion on this one. The best thing to do is if your coming to Europe drive in Germany and you will see how good they are on the autobahns they may flash there lights at you from behind but its to let you know they are going to overtake you or to remind you to pull in. Do that in the UK and you have a case of road rage on your hands. -

Totally agree with the comments above especially if you get a boy racer 17 yr old passes in the summer months that sometimes we have no rain or bad weather. First bid of bad weather we have probably forgot where the wipers are on their motor so they should do the year training and pass more than just the basic 1 hour assessment. -
The Uk's Speed Limits.......Outdated???

The UK driving standards are a joke. The amount of people that overtake then stay in the fast lane of the motor way even though the next vehicle they are going to overtake is miles away, in my eyes bad practice. The point about no one being given any sort of formal training on the motorways is the biggest one, people should be assessed to see if they have the ability to drive on the motorways not pass there tests and left to work it out for themselves. Im currently living in Germany at the minute and with there being no limits on the autobahns its a god send. Not only does no one race around towns or on autobahns as they know what there own vehicle is capable off and dont need to show off to their mates. As for accidents there does seem to be less on the autobahns as they take formal training and do so in more powerful cars rather than the Fiat 500 that some companys in the UK use. That said when there is a crash in Germany its normally a fatality however this does not close the roads for hours they move everything to the hard shoulder put up screens to reduce rubber necking and thn everyone else drives on. -
Yeah know what your saying as your only changing a clutch but i would like to take it somewhere that people have been before or is that just asking to much.
-
Many thanks mate has anyone got a clutch changed down south towards Southampton area as looking to get it done when i come back from Germany. As dont want to leave it in the hands of German people who have never worked on one before.
