  1. But... but... I am the only gay in the village!
  2. I believe that's an Esprit rear half-bumper you had on there. A very nice bit of kit. I was tempted until I went Do-Luck
  3. The window could also have been frozen. Mine has been a few days over the last week.
  4. I've last reset my trip 31,000 miles ago. Shame it doesn't have enough digits My calculated MPG is pretty shocking though as it reckons I've burnt quite a bit of petrol to go 1k miles!
  5. Hmmmm. I was in that very area in a black 350z in the mid-afternoon, but I have an 04 plate. Black wheels & an aftermarket rear?
  6. Happened to me a while back in my pre-zed days. I guess I am one of the rare 'Contrived' crashes where the person slammed their brakes on coming off the M1 with nothing in front of them. I stopped just behind the person with centimetres to spare with no contact and came out to inquire what the guy's problem was. A few weeks later (!!!!!) my insurance company called to say they launched an insurance claim against me for damage to the rear & both (!!!!!) rear side panels. I protested for months and months and spent a tonne of money on the phone & in complaint letters. I insisted that they come and inspect my car for any signs of the claimed damage and if they found any paint from the other car on mine, I would pay out of my own pocket. The end of the story was that because the other party "only" claimed for £1200 or thereabouts, my insurance company at the time (Liverpool Victoria) paid out regardless because it was cheaper for them to pay out than fight it. Needless to say I was furious, but I totted it up and realised it wasn't worth my nerves & stress going through the courts, lawyers, etc, so I just told my insurance company exactly what I thought of them and voted with my feet. It's a sad state of affairs when it's easier and a lot less stressful to just suck it up and declare a fault accident for 3 years and in the online forms put in £1200 damage to 3rd party £0 damage to own vehicle.
  7. The point is: why should you have to drive a shed for a couple months because somebody else has damaged your property? I am really against these arguments, much like the "why should you get a new bumper? You could just bend the old one back into shape and fill the hole". The point is that your experience from the point of the accident onwards should be as close as possible to not having had the incident in the first place. That's a major part of why you pay your insurance. Here are a few examples: 1. I come over to your house and set it on fire, would it be ok for me to place you and your family in a studio apartment for a few months at the top of a tower block in a bad part of town while I rebuild the house exactly as it was (I'll make sure that I replace like for like - ie. fit used carpets & buy second-hand furniture & TV although this is irrelevant for the argument's sake). 2. I take your wedding ring off your finger & badly damage it by bending it into a figure of 8. I then say that it's possible to fix, but will take 2 months. In the meantime, please wear this rubber band that I got for you. Same difference. I know these are somewhat extreme, but the point is the same. If you have a particular way of life, expectations, plans and possessions together with the associated feelings, symbolism et al, why should you have to give these up because somebody has damaged your property? I appreciate that it will never be possible to completely annihilate all trace of the inconvenience, but in a civilised society, it should at least be minimised. By your argument, somebody who steals a few million pounds from a bank vault should get the same punishment as someone who has pickpocketed a fiver because the act of stealing took place and the damage should be immaterial. At the same time, while the money is being recovered from your offshore account, the bank will be compensated with a fiver to keep them going while they wait.
  8. all three garages along my 120-mile Friday route are in. Result!
  9. I believe both should be on 35-36 psi when cold, but I usually put mine on 40 as the tyres are warm whenever I get round to checking it.
  10. I got an brand new Audi TTS for 2 weeks when mine went in. You won't change anything by not accepting the car & everyone else will still take advantage of a 'car of comparable quality and type' line of argument. Therefore suck it up and enjoy the the silver lining that is the courtesy car.
  11. I've got to say that despite a few hiccups, on the whole Rik was pretty good with fitting my Do-Luck rear. The paintjob in particular was good and initially the lines were pretty crisp too. When I had to take it off and put it back on, a couple of the lines went off a little, but overall the job was alright, so he's not as bad as some on here would make out. Particularly given that most have never dealt with the guy. Note that I am in no way endorsing him or am in any way linked to him or his business.
  12. Three zeds driving around central Chester at ungodly hours... Spooky.
  13. I was in Chester Town centre at around that time, but I was very much a Kuro. Black wheels & Do-Luck rear, but didn't see anyone else around.
  14. not sure, but I heard it all gets lost in the drivetrain. 0 whp.
  15. Still surprised there isn't at least one well restored classic like a Datsun 240z or something like that.
  16. A good question is: Are you allowed to paint your car into police colours if these are sufficiently different to the way police cars look in the UK?
  17. I'm happy to help out with driving those for you if you like.
  18. Also, and I accept that this is risky, a very similar thing happened to me once. After banging the seat in a few places, the way I solved that particular problem was to recline it to the max in the direction in which it will work and then go the other way. It worked every time while I had the issue. With me it was just a case of the seat being in a weird position for the motor to push back the other way. The downside is if it doesn't work, your seat is really undriveable!
  19. The worst thing is that I'm seeing a lot of people driving around with their fog lights on, but not their normal lights. I mean seriously?
  20. This makes it a lot more complicated. I guess if you're definitely leaving, your best bet to save yourself as much headache as possible is to go to the letting agents, file your notice and firmly request for your deposit back on the grounds that all the deterioration in the property has been down to their mismanagement. Your best outcome without going through a lot of unnecessary pain is to get your deposit back. My gut feel though, given how helpful they have been, is that you will not see that and if you get that steer when you go speak to them, then simply withhold your last payment and thereby forego half a months' worth of deposit :S
  21. basically, above the number plate is a gap for your boot button and the two numberplate lights. The UK rectangular number plate indent has a longer hole above it than the Do-Luck one. Therefore approximately 1/3 of each light is showing directly through the hole with the rest being to the side. My question was whether that light/button cluster for imports is shorter/narrower than the UK one (ie. is the hole above the numberplate smaller for imports?). Ideally I wouldn't like to cut into the bumper, so any solution which avoids that is preferable. Putting in LEDs doesn't really address the problem that is the fact that changing bulbs means removing the bumper and that the full amount of light does not actually go through to the numper plate. I don't have any photos, but if you think of the gap above the numberplate that I'm talking about, you'll understand what I mean.
