  1. Research!! To buy some buckets and polish. No wonder you work in IT.
  2. I always use 2 spaces in public car parks (straddle the white line every time) Why not?
  3. Thanks for the erudite response Valveman. I don't remember you being in my car when I've clocked up 150 laps at Castle Combe or the 3 sets of tuition I've had. Must be my age. Ekona has very kindly already identified that he thinks using the D1 is not a good idea and as he seems to have a lot more track experience then me, I'll take his advice and turn it off. However, I'm still unimpressed with the tyres and will be changing next time round.
  4. "Interesting mpg figures" Oxymoron.
  5. FM3 with everything turned off. Auto of course Ian - too lazy to change gear. Prefer the wheel for fun but go quicker with the controller.
  6. Well I guess you've got a lot more track experience than me so you're probably right. I still think I'll upgrade next time round.
  7. No..the 452 is the more expensive version..the ZE 912 is the cheaper version. Thanks for the video captain..u pay for what u get i suppose..should have gone with vredestein ultra sessanta I will next time I think.
  8. ?? Mine are Falken 452 tyres that everybody raves about as far as I know.
  9. Fake. Where's the skid marks, damage etc??
  10. Don't buy Falken 452 tyres. This is what happens at low speeds on a (hardly) damp track doing 40ish and then accelerating hard. Useless grip and could have been very costly. The tyres are only a few months old. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6J8hfNJeyw Also, TCS is cutting in severely and much more often than used to happen with the origianl (so called crap) Bridgestones. Won't be going near them again.
  11. Do it yourself!!!! Cost me about £150 to buy EVERYTHING for a full detail. I reckon I've done abot 3 full ones, 5 medium ones and 10-15 full washes/waxes in the past 12 months and have only just started running out of stuff. You'll need: 2 buckets Lambswool mitt Shampoo Clay bar and lubricant Paint cleaner Polish Wax 6 microfibres 1 drying towell Sandpaper (for pipes) Chrome polish Stratch X Glass cleaner Rain X Wheel cleaner Washing-up brush (for rims) Tyre dressing Sponge (for under rims and sides) APC (if you want to do engine bay) Leather cleaner (if you've got it!) http://www.camskill.co.uk I've found is cheapest. Buy Meguiars as a good (without being mentally expensive) product. A good 4 stage clean (wash twice, polish, wax, Rain X, wheels and pipes polished, tyres dressed) takes me about 4 hours. The "biggie" is an all day job. I like cleaning cars so if you want to buy the stuff, we'll do it together!

  13. Not many non-imports have air con, even Mk1s. On the other hand I probably wouldn't buy a UK Mk1 as they're all rusting to hell now. I wouldn't fancy a regular motorway commute in a Mk1 or Mk2 mind you. Yep - forgot to say ours is an import. No rust at all as far as I'm aware and a "P" reg - not sure what year that is. Done about 80,000 miles and I don't think anything has gone wrong in the last 2 years of ownership.
  14. Yeah, my step daughter had one, when she was D/Q'd for Drink Driving I had the use of it for 9 months. I'm 6ft exactly and found it to be a little uncomfortable and certainly wouldn't fancy doing a long journey in one. The great thing about them is the reliability, she did 75k in hers from new and only had it serviced a couple of times, they just run and run. MPG was pretty good on her 1.8 model, somewhere in the region of 34mpg from what I remember. Hold their value extremely well too, she put it in Motor Mart and had people fighting over it, we must have had 20 calls about it. Pete I'm 6' 1" and nearly 15 stone and I drive my g/friends Mark 1 - no issues. Drove down to Bordeaux and did Le Mans in it a couple of years ago - not even a sore bum. For £2500 I'd get the cheapie Mark 1 - still rated the best driver's car. And it HAS got air-con! Here it is in the middle of France at dawn:
  15. I'm no expert but in my experience lots of cars rattle for a few seconds when cold and this stops when a car is warmed up a few seconds later and the part has expanded with the heat and stopped rattling. I'd only worry if the rattling continues when warm.
  16. Just offered £5975. I always thought your car was better Ian and now we have the proof!! Anybody give me £5976 for this piece of junk - taken earlier today coincidentally.
  17. captain

    Berk HFCs= ;)))

How much and where from? Thanks.
  18. From the advert: "BEST 350Z AVAILABLE"
  19. Traitor. More rust please...............
  20. You should go for this at that price. Discs and pads are nowhere near £1000, especially second hand. I bought a second-hand set up of DBA slotted discs, Ferrodo pads, braided lines and Brembo calipers for £800 - worth £2000 new. I'm sure you could get standard set up for £400.
  21. Sorry Paul - what does this mean?? You want £38 and my existing red/white reflector?? First dibs if a price can be reached.
  22. I think I drew something similar with crayons when I was 7. Oh dear. Not a patch on the 8c.
