  1. Wish you'd been there, really. The rain held off and we only left because we were knackered after 65 plus laps. "Mystery guest" turned up, borrowed a helmet and jumped in with me. We got black-flagged because he was filming from the passenger seat. Hopefully he'll post it later.
  2. Wide-angle lens distortion. Corrected in Photoshop CS3: Wasn't complaining. it looks pretty good with an elongated bonnet Bad luck.
  3. Here's one where Joel doesn't crash for once. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWD7RCv_-4A
  4. How about a video at night of a drive-by (not shooting!)

  6. Ah there you go! That's why you couldn't keep up. I stripped off in the car before each session to save a few pounds. Mind you, my passenger didn't quite understand the "weight loss" concept:
  7. Few pics. Tay joins us but opts out of the track stuff. Very wise eh Joel?? Mystery guest didn't even bring his Z. Wonder who that could be all you South West folk.
  8. What a fantastic day. Only about 15 cars there so 2 organised sessions (about 15 laps each as opposed to the usual 7) and then open pit for the rest of the day. Me and Joel did about 120 miles (65 laps) and only finished 'cos we were knackered. The cars didn't miss a beat and it was really intreresting comparing a basic JDM '03 auto with an '06 UK manual GT. Mind you, both of us have a couple of mods. Great battles with Impreza, Focus ST, Golf GTi, modded Rover, Porsche 928S4. Also Tay and a "mystery guest" turned up to make the day complete. I did 3.4 km/l (8 mpg) but couldn't get near my best time of 1:27 from a hot day in April. I think my best was 1:29 but I have got about 2 hours of video to trawl through so there may be a gem in there. I tried a much lower tyre pressure (about 27 psi) than normal and I think I had too much grip for my levels of courage. Set the 1:27 with 35 psi and 2-up. Joel was a superstar seeing as it was his first time on track. Mind you, trying to keep up with a salty sea-dog does have it's consequences........................................ 2:32:06 for sadists. Sorry for the shakyness. Camera taped to underside of rear hatch and a bit loose. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qzau11WQpcE
  9. Not at all. Different cars getting a similar result in different ways. I did 120 miles (65 laps) at Castle Combe yesterday against various others (Subaru Impreza, Focus ST, Golf GTi, Rover GTi, Opel Manta, Porsche 928S4) and you never know what someone's got. Easily left the Subaru and ST behind (guess novice drivers) and the best tussles were with the Golf and the Rover until the Golf blew up showering engine bits and oil everywhere.
  10. Search in Guides. I've done this recently on the rear wiper but I would advise buying a panel remover/lifter (£5) unless you want to split them.
  11. Long way to go Dave, long way to go......................................
  12. The chances of dying in a car accident is about 20,000/1 in any given year. (Source ONS 2008 when 1581 car occupants died) To put it in to perspective, in the same year 3459 people died of "falling" so all you window cleaners, take note. We all know the risks and they are absolutely miniscule. There will always be sad deaths (my best friend was killed in a road accident when I was younger and another friend was trapped in a car with a decapitated corpse before being cut free) and there will always be bad drivers. If you dont like it. Walk. Only 418 pedestrians died in 2008. Figures below for those who like some facts and not sentimental videos: http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog ... lity-rates
  13. Agreed, those things all happened, but in my opinion watching that, that was clearly the Corsa's fault!! Even though the Z driver SAID IT WAS HIS FAULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I give up. Anyway, going on Friday to Castle Combe so I'll see if I can replicate going in to Avon/Camp Corner at 120 mph. Just keep well away from me!! You'll be alright. We will only be doing about 80-90 mph coming in to this and with your extra horses, I expect you to be taking me on the inside every time.
  14. I've got TCS only with no VDC or ESP. JDM '03 If someone can answer the OP, perhaps they could tell me which version I have?

  16. The commentator blamed the Z, the Corsa driver blamed the Z and the Z driver blamed himself both verbally and by using the universal "i'm sorry" gesture in car. What more do you want FFS? He outbraked himself going in to the last corner. I'm sure you could have driven it a lot better though. This corner is quite a commitment and he just got it a fraction of a second wrong.
  17. Last time I was at Castle Combe an old fellah in a red GT3 RS was out and about. Overtook him about 3 times during the day. What a bloody waste of money. I wanted to go over and wrench the keys out of his hands but c'est la vie.
  18. Nice subtle job. Another good one is the rear wiper delete. Improves the rear 100%. Now get some black wheels and a stubby and you'll have a half-decent car.

  20. I think it's fake but still very good. This one's definately a wrong 'un! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DI5RvmNvXak
  21. Ring Ben at Rare Rims. He knows his nuts.
