High risk. You may want to look at SOU or TRP who have had good gains recently and haven't got a mine flooded with acid water. XEL really should be £7-£10 in 18 months and currently £3.40. You can buy outside of market hours but for your purposes, there is no need. These methods are easily understood via the help section on TD Waterhouse if you really want to go give it a go. "Kill of fill" does sound sexy though. As a newbie the best rules are: 1 - Never buy in the first hour. Fluctuations are massive 2 - Track the stock for several days/weeks via charts on http://www.iii.co.uk. You may well see repeating patterns where a predictable dip is identified. 3 - Never buy on a spike. Easier said then done and not always true but RRL was red-hot when you purchased. As you know I sold 22,000 of my shares (about 5% of total holding) on Thurs night (just as you were buying) and used the same money the next day to buy 24,500 so you can see the benefits. 4 - "Buy on rumour - sell on news". Look at the above four shares and check out their company websites and the above reference/generic websites for the upcoming news flow. Shares will rise and rise before any big news is announced and commonly, drop the day news is announced, even if it is "good". This is because the anticipated "good" news is priced-in. Of course if the news is bad the price plummets and if it's fantastic (like XEL's oil discovery before Xmas) it rises sharply. Unless RRL can back up the recent rumours with a succession of "good" new releases (RNS's they're called) the price will drop. A classic example of this is HOIL. They recently discovered one of the biggest gas fields ever but the day they announced this, the price dropped 25%. Why? Because millions of shares had been bought running up to the announcement as the rumours were they'd discovered a massive amount of oil. When the gas was announced, however "good" it seemed, everybody sold. 5 - Deciding if you are a "trader" or "investor" will help. How long do you want your £250 to work for you? 6 - "Rule No.1: Never lose money. Rule No.2: Never forget rule No.1." Warren Buffett. In other words "hold". Your RRL shares will rise and you will be in profit. This is fact and applies to 99% of shares. It's up to you how long you can wait once you see black figures next to them. Would you rather have £300 next week or £3000 in 10 years or £10,000 in 20 years? See Point 5. Hope this helps.

No probs. RRL HAVE to say (opening paragraph of their letter) that they know no reason why the SP is rising because otherwise they could be accused of market manipulation. Of course if they know of some FANTASTIC news that is due to be released in a day/week or so they would never leak that via journalists/bloggers/brokers without letting the City know first.

Not true. Misleading quote. The ASX always demand an RNS from a company with a large share rise, as RRL have done over the last few days. This morning RRL released a brilliantly worded reply to the ASX giving all the reasons why there has been a rise. Hence the very gratifying holding of the share price today. In full below for those who want facts. 4th March 2011 The Manager Company Announcements Australian Securities Exchange Limited Level 6, 20 Bridge Street Sydney NSW 2000 By e-lodgement RE: PRICE QUERY I refer to your letter dated 3 March 2011 in relation to the recent change in price of the Company's securities and respond as follows in line with the numbers of your letter. 1. The Company is not aware of any information concerning it, that has not been announced and which, if known, could be an explanation for recent trading in the securities of the Company; 2. Not applicable; 3. Range recently announced a number of key milestones for the Company across its development and exploration assets, including; - the securing of the drilling rig for its Georgian exploration program; - anticipated mobilisation of the Georgian drilling rig expected March 2011, and planned spudding in April 2011; - commencement of drilling at the East Texas Cotton Valley Project; and - successful fracture stimulation of the lower two zones on the Russell Bevly well, with the upper two zones to follow later in March 2011. It is anticipated that further updates on the Company's activities will be made with respect of its assets over the coming weeks as events occur, as indicated in the recent announcements from the Company. The Company also notes that its Executive Directors have been in London on a promotional visit, further increasing the awareness and activities of Range to a wide range of the London investment community, at a time of increased activity across the Company's portfolio of assets. Since the release of the announcements referred above, the share price has increased significantly (with volume) on its AIM traded shares (with ASX following). 4. The Company confirms that it is in compliance with the ASX Listing Rules. Yours faithfully Peter Landau Executive Director Range Resources

He has only top sliced mate - even with 20 percent of his stake sold he holds more than us combined. Good point just got first day jitters that's all. Lost 143 quid already as I bought at a peak of 23.5p Do not panic, just go with the flow and enjoy it. Be prepared what ever you put in you could lose it all I bought at 5.5(RRL) and then topped up at 15.2 so at the moment I am £11.000 up. I had no idea this would happen but the more i read into it all and phone Captain every other day I am keeping it all in until it reaches MY goal and then i am done. Everyones situation, needs are different and it all depends what your goals are in life. Best of luck everybody(including me)lets hope RRL shines for us all. It's amazing what difference a comma makes: "I'm £11.000 up" "I'm £11,000 up"

if this does turn good what would the sp go up to for an unflooded gold mine? Rio Tinto (successful gold miner) currently at £43 a share.................10,000 x £43 = £430,000. £429,800 profit (minus trading costs) Bit of a long shot though. On a serious note, a recent quote on www.iii.co.uk as follows: "The NAV (Net Asset Value) for 36M oz of gold is circa $20 billion (based on an assumed profit of $500 per oz of gold). That gives fair value per share of over £7 each. Sure there may be a little dilution along the way.........but this is screaming POTENTIAL and massively de-risked now the SA gov have agreed to sort out the AMD (Acid Mine Drainage) issue. This is how mining companies are valued. Check out GGG......went from 2p to 35p and still rising........and they don't have anywhere near the quantities of gold that CRND have."

"If a bull had tits it would be a cow" If I'd gone "all-in" on RRL when they were first tipped to me from by Wrightster at 3.79p I'd be £400,000 up. For all: I've top-sliced 20% of my original RRL stake today at 22.5p Seems a bit overheated and I wouldn't be surprised by a re-trace without further news from the Board. Could have egg on my face but just thought I'd let people know who have invested in them because of me.

Influential blogger mooting a 300-500p valuation on RRL: http://brokermandaniel.com/2011/03/02/r ... -the-city/ "Range Resources. Hotting Up in the City! 2 Votes Shares in Range Resources (RRL), which I have blogged on several times on the BMD site, are surging ahead as canny investors pile into the stock ahead of drilling in Georgia {onshore{ (spud April) where the company will be testing 750 million barrels of oil equivalent of upside. After that, the campaign moves on to the onshore exploration in Puntland, Somalia where Range are partnered with Africa Oil who are scheduled to spud the first well before the end of the second quarter of 2011, and where the upside potential is in the billions of barrels. Range has already established itself as a producer in the US (Texas) but the upcoming drilling activity could lead to a company-changer for investors/company. As foretold here on the blog the 25p minimum target is nailed on and investors should see this as a base for an increasing sp once it is breached and breached it certainly will be!. The 50p minimum target in the run up to pre Georgia/Puntland is looking ever more likely as City watchers look on as investors zero in on Range. It is now widely being accepted from within Brokerages that Georgia and Puntland are potential “game-changersâ€. And as past history should have taught investors potential and expectation are drivers of company value. I recall posting on Encore and Nautical,Xel,Gkp,Chariot etc at various periods that they could be going Major and major they now are. I am now beginning to think that Range Resources are increasingly looking likely to at the very least treble from where they now are pre-Puntland/Georgia the value indicators here hold much potential. There just seems to be a certain inevitability about them. The exact same inevitability that has seen meteoric rises for Nautical,Encore,GKP etc. The key here for serious investors is research. Investing and holding here for Georgia and puntland should be the objective. They are currently still trading way under-value given the weight of interest that is certainly going to begin to keep ratcheting the sp ever upwards. The Markets are expecting a busy few weeks as investors begin to switch on here. Any success in Puntland and Georgia and you can kiss good bye forever to the 60/70p pre spud sp that some analysts think could be reached. Range Resources could be going Major and a 300p/500p share price isn’t out of the question all depends on Puntland and Georgia! Better inside the tent pi**ing out then outside the tent pi**ing in! Viva! Daniel"

Top stuff. When it hits 50p we'll have a party. I'll pay. My book cost of £1, 999 is now worth £4, 609. ...the party is still on captain though! I know his buy in average and number of shares owned......lets just say it makes maths more exciting! Where is the party? Trinidad, Georgia, Puntland, Texas? I've bought a few more since then Cragus. I'm off to Texas in April/May. Happy to buy you a plane ticket to Houston if it hits 50p. Will be visiting the oilfield to say some prayers. I'll do requests in any religion you like. Maths currently my favourite subject. So seriously, how far are you expecting RRL to go? At what point are you going to get out of RRL? £1.33 gives me a nice round figure.

I meant to add my shares are sh*te at the moment! My £100 of RRL is down £8 even though the share price has gone up slightly, due to the £8.50 transaction charge £100. "Mighty oaks from little acorns grow..................." Don't take the ****, I'm just finding my feet Wasn't taking the **** Sarnie. It's fun watching it grow.....................anyway that's what the g/f says.

Interesting tip (and thank you for it, Captain) - I've looked into it and decided to have a punt. This is just a note to say what I have done and why - as a complete beginner I certainly wouldn't presume to advise others just yet! It looks as thought the South African government are going to provide aid to help clean up the mines affected by flooding - so hopefully CRND will be starting to get back up to speed later this year - resulting I hope, in an increase in the share prices. I have a pending limit order so when the price hits £0.0185 (hopefully some time tomorrow) I'll purchase £190 worth - all I can spare at the moment! Guess you have to start somewhere. I will also look to invest in some low-risk shares in the coming months too, in order to have a balanced portfolio. I will watch with (now vested!) interest... Top man. I think the SA Government will bail them out. If you want value/low risk get XEL whilst people are jittery round the £3 mark. £7-£10 in 12-18 months wouldn't surprise me,
