  1. Could be something - could be nothing at the same time. What is the most recent draw down for - I wish PL was my uncle so I could pick his brains! The draw down was for SOMETHING. That's all we know. But it is a lot of money - £7.5m wasn't it? That SOMETHING has yet to be announced but could be 5th project (Colombia?) or could be Puntland offshore etc. etc. Your guess is as good as mine.

  3. Depends if we get the "transformational" announcement that is rumoured. I'm on a forum on Google Mail where JR2187 is a regular poster. He used to be xx2187xx on www.iii.co.uk He claims to be the largest private holder of RRL shares in the world, all 21,870,000 of them. He stopped posting on iii and set up this other forum because of the rubbish that gets posted on iii. He has now stopped posting on the Google Mail forum because he "says" he knows of what is about to happen and can't post for legal reasons. He has posted riddles and cryptic clues e.g. "left field" and "it's under your noses" but nothing concrete. This announcement is expected within 2 weeks. Fun. Isn't it.

  5. This country has gone to war since the 16th century for only 3 reasons - economic, political or military. (Prior to that there was religious but that is ancient history now) The commencement of military action last Friday was not part of Red Nose day. We're not here to "help" out other countries and nor should we. We are NOT bombing Libya to help "the resistance" or some other specious argument. We are bombing Libya to secure our oil and gas assets (economic) to deter the rise of Islamic fundamentalism and the support for terrorism from Gadaffi (political) and to hopefully secure another region to gain a strategic foothold for future operations (military) The Army, Navy and RAF are there to do this for us and they do it very well. Despite "the cuts" we have the 4th largest military budget in the world and are 2nd behind the Americans in investment in military engineering and technology. Our armed services don't want sympathy - they want decent pay and to be looked after when they get their legs blown off but they are not press-ganged in to doing our bidding so all this "sympathy" nonsense when they die is ridiculous. Last time I looked it was voluntary? Some people need to get a grip on reality and read a few history books.
  6. Just to add that I eventually went for Goodyear Eagle F1A. £540 fitted with laser alignment chucked in. Huge step up in terms of quietness over the Falken 452s. Seem to be very grippy and an all round improvement. Will post full thoughts after first hot lap at Castle Combe.
  7. Couldn't agree more. Been watching it every day for 10 days thinking that but have held up until now and currently 157% up since I bought. It's only a small holding for me so I'm going to hang on and see if it does a RKH/GKP/XEL/BPC

If we're valued at $4 or $5 a barrel, we can work the numbers forward using $4.5 as an average to determine the projected value / share price. $10 a barrel = £7.55 $11 a barrel = £8.31 $12 a barrel = £9.04 $13 a barrel = £9.82 $14 a barrel = £10.58 $15 a barrel = £11.34 These figures are based on a figure for the recoverable reserves. @ £3.40p the market cap is £549.5m / $894m. Divide that by $4.5 and you get 200m. So 200m is the baseline figure they're using to calculate the current value of $4 to $5 per barrel. Given that the BoD have a track record for providing conservative figures I'm personally treating 200m recoverable as a baseline figure to work up from. If you adjust to 250m or 300m to determine the projected value / share prices you get the following set of figures. p/barrel 200m 250m 300m @ $10 £7.55 £9.44 £11.33 @ $11 £8.31 £10.39 £12.47 @ $12 £9.04 £11.30 £13.56 @ $13 £9.82 £12.28 £14.73 @ $14 £10.58 £13.23 £15.87 @ $15 £11.34 £14.18 £17.01 The average of those numbers is £11.80 This isn't materially new information but for me, having Xcite validate 200m as the base figure for recoverable reserves has restored a great deal of confidence. Anyone have anything to add to those numbers of is there a broad consensus in those ranges? We should be set for a strong couple of weeks."

  11. I'm sure the car would be perfect for many people. I like to drive using a lot if not all the potential of what I'm in and I can do that in my Z or Mel's £1000 MX-5. In the 2 hours with the R35, I did it for about 2 minutes. Glad I'm not the only one to think this. Be supprised if you even got 2 minutes of full potential out of it You could say that about any supercar though, I'm sure Chris hardly ever gets the full potential out off his F430 or sarnie from when he had his lambo! Thats true. However IMO you buy a "proper" supercar for the experience of driving it, with Fezza's and Lambo's you get a lot more drama from them and more of an experience than just a stupidly fast car. The interior of a GTR is no where near as good as experience as a true supercar, nor is the experience, other than its fecking quick. Its just so easy to go so quick in it, theres no challenge and I found it quite boring TBH once you get over the initial "$%$£ this is so quick" of it all. No knocking the GTR - its an amazing car for what it is and for the price, just I find it boring on UK roads as it gets to the speed limit far too easily and isnt involving enough at sub speed limit speeds. Spot on.

Not a "biggie" but up 7% today: Texas update Range Resources LTD Texas Update 21 March 2011 The Manager Company Announcements Australian Securities Exchange Limited Level 6, 20 Bridge Street Sydney NSW 2000 By e-lodgement TEXASUPDATE NORTH CHAPMAN RANCH International oil and gas exploration, development and production company, Range Resources Limited ("Range" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that the fracture stimulation program has recommenced on the North Chapman Ranch project, with the arrival on site of leading fracture stimulation specialists - Frac Tech. The largest zone (second from top) on the Russell Bevly well is currently being fracture stimulated with initial results looking promising. Once successfully completed, Frac Tech will move across to the Smith #1 well and frac the upper zone, which was perforated on March 18 and this zone currently flowing at more than 1.3 MMcfd. Frac Tech will then move off site and look to return in the comings weeks to complete the fracture stimulation of any remaining zones in the Smith and Russell Bevly wells. Consistent with past fracture stimulations performed within the region, this program is expected to add to the success of the lower two zone frac of the Russell Bevly well and further improve flow rates and recovery, which should significantly increase cashflow from the field. Range will provide further updates in due course. EAST TEXAS COTTON VALLEY As previously announced, the Company and its partners have drilled the East Texas Cotton Valley objective section to a depth of around 5,500 ft (1,680m) in its Ross 3H #1 Well at the East Texas Cotton Valley Project. Electric logs and sidewall cores confirm approximately 130 ft. of gross oil pay in the objective section. Directional drilling operations have now commenced, with the well currently drilling ahead at approximately 4,550 ft (1,390m) measured depth. The well has a projected total hole length of 8,200ft (2,500m), including a 2,500ft (762m) horizontal section through the Cotton Valley oil reservoir. The Company will continue to provide further updates as information becomes available.

PIMM can tell you if it was fast enough in its current condition............

  19. I absolutely love the V8 M3 but I've had three 3-series already. This would be a 2nd car so if a GT3 is "rough" then I wouldn't mind. I like the size, the look and the performance. Most of all, I think it would be fun. Currently £35k on Pistonheads:

  23. So now I've had time to digest the test drive. Here are mine (and Mel's) thoughts on the 2011 Enhanced GT-R35: A beautiful day and arrived as Wessex Nissan at 10:01 - 1 minute after they opened. Not that we were excited or anything. Sadique (370Z and GT-R specialist) was there and welcomed us and then told us that BOTH the 2010 and 2011 demo cars were not at the dealers and that the 2 directors had nabbed them and they hadn't come in yet. Very disappointing but gave us a chance to play with a black 2010 Black Edition and Daytona Blue in the showroom upstairs. Luckily, Mel preferred the front end and colour of the 2010 so £17,000 saved there and then. Can't say she's wrong really. Don't like the 2011 DRLs and the darker wheels and interior of the 2010 are very "moody" After 45 minutes of prodding and poking and criticising (the Black Edition looked like it had been washed with steel wool) neither director had come in so I said how disappointed I was and left to go for a coffee in Bristol. Of course after driving through town for 15 minutes, paying £2.50 to park and walking 15 minutes from the car, Sadique called and said one of the cars was back in. Didn't take me 15 minutes to walk back to the car or 15 minutes to get back to the dealers, I can tell you. Back at Nissan agreed to a £3000 deposit and walked outside to be presented with a very mucky black/black rimmed 2011 GT-R (bird @*!#, white streaks down the side) Signed it off as "unmolested" and was given the keys and Sadique wandered off. Grrrrrrrrrr. This is getting worse. Why hasn't he turned the car round? So instead of driving serenely out of the dealers I have to reverse between dozens of Jukes and other assorted junk out on to a blind bend to be nearly collected by a couple of geriactrics bringing their Micra in for new knitted cushions (probably) Anywaaaaaaaaaaaaaay let's go: The car is beautifully detailed inside with everything as well fitted as could be expected. The car has EVERYTHING as standard except upgraded mats and a few other bits and bobs which I'm sure I could neg if necessary. It makes the most unexpected sounds though. Lots of clunking and whirring and creaking and bonking from underneath. Wind noise and tyre rumble is excellent though. M32 was rammed so toodled up it feeling like the bees knees whilst adjusting the Play Station, sorry info display. That is a lot of fun but with £3,000 riding on me keeping my eyes on the road, left alone after a while. Decided to leave it showing the acceleration graph thingy which shows a screen like a heart monitor with how much welly you're giving it. To be honest, I think Nisaan should link this to your own heart as the display would look the same. Drove down the M5 at various speeds and a few words kept on recurring when chatting: "awe" "incredible" "unreal" "spaceship" "relentless" and, most commonly, "ban" and "death". However, never, never "sexy" or "love" or "fun". Went to see PIMM who hitched a little ride - he can fill you in on his thoughts. He's a quick driver but I think I heard him groan "enough" at one point. Came back on the A38 to check out the twisties. Lots of people out who wanted to play and frankly, the car is BRUTAL in dismissing them. Pointless trying really unless you've got something worth £120,000 plus. The speedo reads 140 where most cars read 80 and it does it without a single tyre squeal, missed gear, juddering break or any sideways movement. Incredible. We were early back to the dealers so a quick tour around Bristol out to Downend on the ring road. If you think a modded Sunset Z gets lots of looks and pointing, it is nothing compared to the attention this thing attracts. At one point I was surrounded by about 5 cars ALL of whom were waving/pointing/trying to race me. Last impressions? For my style of driving the car is too big, too quiet and too "on-off". The turbos have some lag which I wasn't expecting and I never got the feeling that I would be able to string together 3 or 4 bends at a good pace without the fear that I was going to clip an inside apex or be too far over for oncoming traffic. In the black car, the hood merged in to the road ahead which made it tricky and of course, £3000 is a lot to blow for 2 hours of fun. If Nissan can make this for £70,000 and the 370 for £30,000. How many people would queue up for a £45,000 2 seater with killer 350'esque looks, 400 lbs lighter with a 4.5 second, 175 mph performance? I'd be first in the queue.
