  4. Thanks. That 5D with those lenses is fantastic. I'm a Nikon boy (no reason, just happened) and waiting for the "baby full-frame" which is due this year and will then sell my D7000 and lenses and get serious. Mind you, for your investment of £10k plus for the above, you'd want some nice results. Well done again.

Well you clearly didn't listen to the briefing(s) that said "if a car comes up behind you then it's going faster so indicate/slow and let them pass" (Like I did for the Datsuns) because I came up behind you about three times. 60 hours on track eh? That'll be the reason you pulled up to the pits with what looked like the contents of a jumble sale in your boot which you had to unload. 60 hours on track eh? Of course, that's why you hadn't fitted any of the ID stickers that everybody else had on their windows and had to scrabble around at the last minute. "Refining little tricks" is fine with nobody else around and you could have easily slowed for 10 seconds and had the whole track to yourself to show-off, sorry, perfect your driving skills. And you thought it was ok to do this at Japfest, in your first outing in the car in the middle of a dozen other cars? Really? You didn't ruin my day. But you could of.

  19. We were there way before sunset...... There were 100s of people on the grass under the bridge but the bats were clearly haveing a day off. I'll show Mel the picture because she was very upset at the bat shortage. And yes, it stank.
  20. Day 9 - Five Zeds and a million bats....... Austin is a nice enough place to "do nothing" so a lazy morning - Zeds everywhere! Then cheeseburger, fries and mucho beer at the Hickory Street Bar and Grill: So much beer that a lie down was needed. Up and out again and time to investigate "clean" 6th (West of Congress) as opposed to "dirty" 6th, East of Congress where we were 2 nights ago. Lot more sedate but good bars all the same. Best cocktails I've EVER had at Ruth's Chris Steak House on W/6th. Including the bloody amazing Espressotini. If you've had a skinful and a burger for lunch, this is the puppy to get you going again at 18:00. Hiding here behind my Manhattan: Top barman as well. Customer service is on a different level in the US. Showed us how to make the cocktails, remembered our names, introduced us to other people etc etc. MInd you, for a $10 tip so he should...... On to the Driskill for REALLY posh. Another fantastic barman (from Amarillo - he knew the way if you're interested). Sitting there, sipping a Rusty Nail, leaning back in the cow-hide bar stool, I can't think I've ever been happier on a holiday and had another "America moment". It's an overpowering feeling of being part of something so absolutely "right". Let's not forget the second line of their Declaration of Independence levelled against the evil Brits: ".............that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness............ " The pursuit of happiness. mmmmmmmmmm. Jefferson really was a great man. Think I'll have another Rusty Nail to celebrate. Sooooooooooooo. Time to wander off to the Congress Avenue Bridge to see the "world famous" (no, me neither) flight of "millions" of bats at sunset, which evidently happens every night. Well despite looking as hard as I could: and Mel looking some more: there were no bloody bats. TBH I was a little so had a little kip under the bridge but when I woke up, still no bats. That's enough Bill Oddie for one holiday so a quick snorter and time for bed. Just caught this on the way home. I think 5 is a record for 1 day!!

Resonated de-cats £360 Exhaust £500 Rims and tyres £1200 Whole brake system (calipers, discs, pads, lines, fluid) £600? Anti-roll bar £200 Over £4k in all. Bloody hell. Adds up doesn't it??

They needed a 2:00 RNS to explain because this is what Rupert Cole (XEL Director) has been saying to the Dow Jones Newswires: LONDON (Dow Jones)--Shares in oil exploration and development company Xcite Energy Ltd. (XEL.LN) tumbled almost 30% Tuesday after an update on oil reserves at its Bentley oil field disappointed. Finance Director Rupert Cole, however, told Dow Jones Newswires that the estimated reserves remain in line with the company's expectations, as only one core area of the field has been analyzed so far. As the area of focus grows, the estimated reserves will eventually match the firm's internal estimates, Cole said. Due to Canadian disclosure rules, reserves and resources can't be added together, but if that was done, there would be 150 million barrels proven and probable reserves, Cole said. This values the reserves at $1.35 billion at net present value, using a 10% forward discount rate. Earlier Tuesday, Xcite said the company's independent qualified reserves auditor identified proven reserves of 22 million barrels of oil; proven and probable reserves of 28 million barrels; and proven, probable and possible reserves of 35 million barrels. The reserves are attributed to the northern core area of the Bentley field. The auditor also identified contingent resources for the remaining core area of the field in the second stage of the company's production plan at 87 million barrels of oil on a "best estimate" basis, the company said. Previous estimates in January for the whole Bentley field--undertaken in June 2009--identified 160 million barrels on a "best estimate" basis. Shares at 1345 GMT were down 72.5 pence, or 22.9%, at 244 pence, in a slightly lower Alternative Investment Market--down 0.1%. Numis Securities analyst Matthew Lambourne said the Bentley resource base is disappointing, as while the report credits Xcite with 28 million barrels of proven and probable reserves in the first production stage, a smaller-than-expected contingent resource base means the auditor estimates Bentley's size to be below both management's previous guidance and Numis' 160 million barrel estimate. Lambourne's "buy" rating is currently under review, along with a target price. Arbuthnot analyst Sam Wahab, however saw the result as a positive progression for the company as it moves a significant proportion of the resources into reserves for the first time. There has also been a significant increase in the net present value of the asset since the last report--$1.35 billion compared with $881 million on a "best estimate" basis--, he said. Xcite continues to make progress on its development plan which should be submitted for approval in the short term in anticipation of development drilling starting in the fourth quarter, he added.
