  1. Yep mine is doing this as well, knock, knock - whos there - a bloody big bill for new banana bars probably I havent heard the left foot braking trick yet, ill give that a go when a get the chance to drive again. I have heard that ZMANALEX does secondhand bits including these bars, but i'm reluctant to shell out on secondhand suspension components.....
  2. I was wondering if anyone has an idea where some good places are to practice drifting on tarmac. Not public roads obviously, im thinking of car parks or any open tarmac areas. I'm not one to draw attention to myself if i can help it so i dont want to go anywhere where the noise of skidding would upset anyone or make me look like a chavvy, mcdonalds car park loitering knob!. At trackdays you tend to get blackflagged for skidding and then you have the risk of hitting other cars and also getting in their way. It has been suggested to try 'car limits' in essex which is a driver training course, but i cant really afford their prices and im happy to try and teach myself. I did do a caterham drift course at brands last year which was great, i just want to try the zed out now! In magazines like evo and programmes like top gear etc, all they seem to do is slide cars around on tracks and airfields. Ive always fancied having a go. Now i have the car to have a go at it myself but i cant find the right place!! Has anyone else thought the same thing or found a good place?? Thanks!
  3. "any chance of sticking up the box dimensions if you have them handy?" +1. Ive got some kenwoods components to go in soon and im hoping to clamp the tweeters up behind the triangles with some sort of bracket so they fire through the grid as the bose ones do - whether it will work or not will be a different matter! I have always fancied trying out an 8" sub and would love to hear your system. I bet it's punchy as hell but i wonder if it drops enough to power through some low r+b, dance + hip hop stuff.....
  4. very jealous of your system it's exactly what i want - nice and discreet and using the stock locations. My dilema is how to fit the tweeters without cutting the door card triangles (if you know what i mean). I see you have done this but what when you want to remove them? I suppose you can get new triangle pieces.
  5. I got a multi-car quote from admiral yesterday, i declared the induction kit which didnt seem to bother them and the quote worked out to around £650. Then i mentioned the wheel spacers (in my opinion hardly worth mentioning but still best to be on the safe side) The chap wasnt sure what they were so dissappeared off to talk to his supervisor. He came back and said the wheel spacers would put the car into the "high risk" category and the quote would be over £3000 WTF! I assured the guy how trivial they were but they were sticking to their guns on it. Bizzare. My GF said 'You will just have to take off the wheel spacers then' My response: errrrr........ i dont think so!!
  6. That looks awesome!! (Nice CTR in the background too, ive always fancied one - Thats some lockup you have there!)
  7. I was inside having a meal and a gunmetal or silver zed pulled up outside. Looked It had a private reg ending in JSM i think.
  8. Love it- dare to be different!!
  9. That has to be the sweetest beige metro ive ever seen. Come to think of it, its the ONLY cool metro ive ever seen. (apart from the 6R4 of course) I love restrainedly modified 80's 'box-shaped' hatch backs! Oh and your rims look good as well mike!!! Are they a different offset to the rays?
  10. Yeh i agree, you need to first check you dont have a bad/loose earth connection as that can cause all sorts of gremlins.
  11. I need one of these soon!!! What about this? Cheap?? http://www.jdmperformance.co.uk/item_de ... odID=59854
  12. I'm an John Deere agricultural engineer by trade. Repairing tractors, combine harvesters etc. I work on a salad farm now looking after 25 tractor fleet on my tod.
  13. meh, its only an escort True. Should have shoved it in further really
  14. Weather for me is 'snow problem'...... sorry Even the tractor was sliding all over the place! Trouble is the plough compacts a thin layer of snow onto the road and turns it to sheet ice The Z will be staying on the farm for a while now me-thinks.
  15. Thanks mate, i'm very happy that i bought a black one now as i really does look the bollocks when it is clean I just need to get the door handles painted black as they look poo in silver.
  16. Amazing how much difference these make, are they 20mm? I might be tempted mike, first dibs?? Are you selling-up?
  17. Thanks mike great help So impressed with the look of your car mike it looks I assume you have spacers, have you lowered it as well?? Very tempted to do similar as it just subtly finishes off the beefy looks of the car!
  18. Thanks very much for that mate. I have found a couple of threads about this rod failing causing a knocking sound: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=29723 viewtopic.php?f=9&t=25519&hilit=suspension+knocking viewtopic.php?f=9&t=19045&hilit=suspension+knocking&start=15 It appears to be referred to as the 'banana bar' by some people on here due to it's shape. It seems relatively common, so perhaps ill change this first and see how i get on. ATTAK how much did you pay and where from??
  19. Thanks guys, i did notice the airbags after about 10 mins of fiddling and decidied not to go to mad unplugging things and poking around. Ill see if i can get a local trimmers to look at them. If i take the seat right out of the car, do you know if i can safely just disconnect the wires (re airbags) or is there some special procedure??
  20. My drivers seat base heater doesn't work and the passengers back heater as well. Ive checked the switches- all ok, but the wires disappear up into the seats. Has anybody had theirs apart? It looks like it could get emotional if i have a go I assume the heating element has broken, i will have to get the multimeter out and check for continuity through the seat, but i'm sure i will have to fit a new element. If anbody has had any experience with this system please come forth and share! Many thanks in advance! Dave
  21. So as your friends brothers do this then it must apply to every farmer/farmworker in the country?? All of the times i pull over to let busses, lorries and cars past (particularly at rush hour) must be a figment of my imagination. Dont worry mate I was only messing with you - I know what some Polish drivers are like ! No road markings in some parts of Poland - sometimes they forget they are here and not there!! Just check they have not had a drink before you let them drive anything dangerous! But of course all Farmers drive to p*** everyone off dont you know that! (I think my friends brothers are just plain f**tts and not even sure they represent human beings never mind anyone else! No worries fella Nice one mate! Actually being a farmer has so many perks. Loads of machinery to play with, being able to help friends and family out with hedgecutting, moving aggregates/soil, log splitting, and fun stuff like snowploughing. Also the farm quad is great when it snows! It snowed here two weeks ago and instead of working we spent all morning doing donut competitions
  22. Sorry stan, i didnt mean to offend. We employ some polish drivers on the farm in the summer and some of their driving standards leave a lot to be desired. This is what i was referring to- nothing personal. However i have also met some truly excellent polish drivers and i have a lot of respect for them. So as your friends brothers do this then it must apply to every farmer/farmworker in the country?? 23. Thanks very much for your kind replies guys, sounds like a very friendly forum! Yes unfortunatly i am one of those tractor driving farmers, however i always pullover to let traffic past if i'm on a main road. You must be getting stuck behind one of those polish drivers!! Thanks again chaps and merry christmas!! Dave
  24. Hi guys i have just sold my clio trophy so i can now introduce myself here and start enjoying my new Z! Ive always been a big fan of the zed but had never driven one. Then the other day i spotted this... http://www.karden.co.uk/stock/used%20ca ... /350Z.htm# Anyway i had a look around it and thought, 'hmmm i could see myself in this' and then the salesman said why dont you take it out for a spin... 'BY YOURSELF' I couldnt turn that down!! After a fair drive i couldnt believe how tight everything felt after 60k - gearbox feels like new, no significant signs of wear and engine runs like a sewing machine. Anyway i offered him 12k flat there and then and we shook hands. Well i'm v happy now. Ive had a couple of moments on wet roundabouts, but all in all its great. It has RE040s fitted at the mo with not much tread left on the back so i think i will just do a bit of careful drifting on those to acquaint myself and then upgrade. I have noticed a few faults and annoying traits: Gentle knocking from front suspension when going v slowly down rutted tracks (fine on the roads) - (ABR links? Lower balljoints?) Heated seats - drivers bum and passengers lumbar not working. (elements broken?) Bose skipping - (forgot to check when buying ) Sometimes the drivers backrest switch is temperamental - (maybe need to remove and clean?) Reversing lamp is not very effective - (is this normal or do i have to upgrade the bulb??) Main beam indicator is v bright - (i wonder if i can do something about this as it is very distracting on dark roads) A couple of stone chips on the brembos - (I was going to clean-out the chips and just laquer over, as i'm mainly just worried about corrosion on the caliper paintwork) Anyway sorry to go on. I hope that someone may be able to help with some advice on the bits i have listed above, however i will probably sort them out and post on individual issues as i find time to sort them. Thanks very much! Dave
