Goodyear F1's, fitted, all in for £477. Job done. Thanks for the help guys.
-
Yeah, sorry, the fronts are 225/50/R17 There are loads of this size to choose from, it's just the rears that have a restricted choice of tyres! Goodyear or Toyo??
-
I've been looking in to those, the only problem though, I can't get them to fit the stupid import 17 inch rear wheels.... 235/50/R17. http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m4b0s556p0 I'm changing all 4 so I want them to match, that's why I'm fairly restricted to the goodyears or the toyos....

Dilemma over I think. A set of alloys + tyres are a little more than my budget stretches. I'm looking at either a set of Toyo T-1R's or Goodyear F1's, both about £500 including fitting. Any preference? I've been told the Toyos are a similar compound to the standard Bridgestone Potenzas and that they dont last as long as the Goodyear??

Hi Guys, Bit of a dilema.... I had the Z in the garage yesterday to have a spoiler fitted, picked it up, looks great, and then came the bombshell dropped by the technician.... My front tyres are almost showing canvas on the inside!!! Gutted. They look fine on the outside, I just obviously didn't check them well enough on full-lock. The backs aren't far behind either. So, I've got to dip in to the savings to replace the tyres on all four corners. Now, my dilema.... 4 new tyres all likely to be pretty pricey, plus they need balancing/tracking by the sounds of it as well. So, £650ish?? That a good guesstimate? I've got a JDM import with 17inch wheels (sorry, not got the tyre sizes to hand, I'll add them later), do I get some quality tyres for these alloys? Falken FK452's, Bridgstone Potenza etc.... Or, do I treat myself to some nice new 19 inch wheels with tyres?? Are the prices likely to differ that much?? £650 for new alloys?? I'm obviously going to do some research but you're input helps!! Help, suggestions, thoughts all appretiated. Thanks!!

Ha ha I'm glad you've all sad that to be honest, the more I look at it the more I dis-like the badge. That will be straight off this weekend, thanks for the advice guys!! Chris - I'm going to have a look at centrafuse I think, I think there are probably better sat nav options out there than what I'm using. At least it will be easier to play around with the OS/front end now the computer and screen are actually fitted.

If anyone wanted to see the computer is all in and working now.... viewtopic.php?f=27&t=26150 Cheers

It's running on XP. But the guy I brought the PC from put together the custom desktop for me. It's obviously been modified to run in a car on a touch screen, it works brilliantly.

Hi Guys, Over the last couple of weeks I've been installing a PC in my Zed, I've had plenty of teething problems but it's just about there, all installed and working!! Really chuffed with how well it has come out, the PC is in the glove box behind the passenger seat and then I've mounted a Lilliput touch screen monitor after talking out the Jap Sat Nav. The system loads to the "media centre" which has the custom Zed logo in the middle and then the main desktop has the full on screen keyboard and links to the bluetooth, sat nav, music, vids etc... The face plate took some doing, I couldn't get hold of a standard plate with out the jap buttons so I fibreglassed over the holes, sanded it and sprayed it, i left the circular button in and that's the power switch for the PC and monitor. I'm still not sure about the "350Z" logo on the front, what do you think? The PC does pretty much what most carputers seem to do, built in sat nav, music, bluetooth etc.... At the moment it is using an FM transmitter, it does the job but I'm deffo going to sort an AUX in when I get the chance. Another slight problem that will need sorting next time the dash is apart, the mounted monitor isn't as rigid as I'd like, I've seen a few guys have used some sort of putty to mount the monitors, any advice? Sorry about the quality of the pics but have a look and let me know what you think!! Unfortunately I've only got "after" pics, nothing during the install, I was intending to do a full process start to finish, but then I just got carried away with the install!! Any questions then feel free to ask!! Cheers

Cheers mate, I'll have to have another play tonight. Thanks
-
Zedwagon, Is your FM Transmitter on an import? Cheers
-
Hi, I have tried to use an FM Transimmer for my iPod but my bose headunit won't pick up the signal. I'm thinking it is because of the narrow bandwidth on JDM impports, has anyone else had this problem? How did you get round it? Can you get an FM Transmitter that uses different receptions? I didn't really want to go down the route of hardwiring an aux-in to the tape deck. Cheers

Thanks Chris, Could you be a little clearer though please? Any pics of what I need? Basically I just cut the cig lighter connector off of the power cable and hardwired it to the back of the cig lighter, I guess that is a no-no? Yeah I have gone for the PC route, I've got a PC in the glove box behind the passenger seat, wired through to the lilliput monitor, I'm just trying to sort power to the monitor. Cheers
-
Hi Guys, Hopefully someone can help me here, I've just installed a lilliput monitor in my cubby hole, when hard wiring it in to my cig lighter I accidently got the wires mixed up (stupid I know) and I burnt out the small adapter/transformer in the power cable, luckily the monitor is fine. My question is, what exactly is the small transformer in the power cable for? It says on it "12v in, 12v out", is it to stop spikes/surges when the ignition is turned on? Or does it make sure there is constant power when the igntion is turned on? I've really got no idea. Next question, is it important? And if so, where can I get a new one? Any ideas? Is it a new power cable I need or can I just buy a new transformer? Unfortunately this is the only pic I have at the moment, I'll upload some better ones tonight... Thanks for all your help, much appreciated!!

Yeah, I'm definately learning a few things with the more posts I read. You're right, they do look good in convoy!!

I'm getting there with it, the computer is installed in the glovebox behind the passenger seat, all the cables are through the armreast and up to the back of the cubby hole. I've got my screen and I just need to mount it in the cubby hole and connect it up..... i think. I managed to get around the face plate problem as well and I'm really chuffed with the results. I took out the old Jap buttons, fibreglassed over the holes that were left, sanded it down and sprayed it. I also left in the big circular button and fitted a push-to-make swith in there to turn the computer on, it looks good. Obviously you'll want some pictures, once it's all up and done I'll write a whole new thread incase anyone wants to see it in action. Hopefully by the weekend, fingers crossed!!

Ha ha, I'll take that advice on board then, I guess that's why I'm a newbie and you're all veterans!! I'll make sure I give the Zed's a polite nod before beating everything else!
-
Ha ha, I'll have a sneaky look through the curtains!! I'm glad it's not just me then, if you ever see a guy in a gun-metal grey 350 waving madly as you pass then it could well be me!!!

Hi Guys, I was driving home from work today, pulled up in the left hand lane at the traffic lights on a nice dual carriage way, looked in the mirror and saw another Zed approaching, I was waiting for him to pull up in the right hand lane for a little fun, but no, he pulled up behind me and then followed me in the left hand lane.... Question... Was he scared his driving wasn't up to mine? Shy? Boring? Old? I have no idea!! And it also got me thinking, do any other Zed drivers give a wave when they see other 350's on the road?? Just curious.... Cheers

Hi Guys, I've just swapped my standard Jap screen for a nice Lilliput touchscreen, the only thing I need to finish my install is the little finishing plate to cover the hole where I have taken out the Jap buttons! I think it is part no. 68410-CD000 http://www.mynismo.com/products/?id=4445 It's only $13 but delivery is a nightmare!! Any help would be much appreciated!! Thanks.

Frustrating isn't it, my car is the same, all these extras, sat nav, tv, dvd, bluetooth etc etc etc and you can't use any of them!!! Yeah, I'll get a few pics up, it's not installed yet. I've gone for a pre-built computer system that is already loaded with sat-nav, mp3, bluetooth and dvd, and I'm intending to sit that in the glove compartment behind the passenger seat. Then I've got a 7 inch Lilliput touchscreen monitor that will have to replace the standard monitor (that again is absolutely useless!!). The actual system is pretty simple, and wiring should be easy. It's just fitting it!! Hopefully it won't be too bad, a little nervous about stripping the dash board though!! I'll get a few pics up of during and after the install, hopefully it will do the job!!

Oh right, bugger. I'm not sure again now then!! I spoke to a specialist this morning and they said it was the Type 3 - N2. Like you say, I'd be surprised if it was the same one for AT and MT. Think I better do some more digging!! Cheers
-
In case anyone else was wondering, I have just been told that for the auto 350Z you need the HKS SLD - Type 3 N2, and it retails at about £210 + VAT. Cheers

Hi Guys, I'm new to the site so go easy on me if if this is in the wrong place!! I've just purchased an imported automatic Zed, 2004 model. Unfortunately it's restricted to 112 mph (shows as 120mph on the speedo). I've been trawling through posts on this forum for the last 2 hours and can't find an answer on how to get rid of it!! I know that I need a HKS SLD (Speed Limit Defencer), but what type is it?? No body seems to have posted a definitive answer! Some people are saying type 2, others type 3!? Has anyone got one fitted to their auto? Any advice would be great!! Thanks.
